  1. Carter has done the right thing by Brodster and after Beating John Dunn with AJIRA and costing him driving the Quaddie in the process, has engaged him to drive the horse today , instead of Sarah !!! so Now the EVANGELIST's of matthew, mark, luke and 'Honest'John ,gamma and Davis are staring down the barrel of a Carter team-play at Nelson today to draw level on the head to head challenge , and send us back to 'church' for prayer lol. ๐Ÿ˜‚ here's the field today Race 8. and the point added for the sensational Carter drive on AJIRA on day 1. 1 035029 Emma's Boy 6 g R53 1 Ft Gerard O'Reilly Ivan Court 2 595081 Ajira 4 g R53 2 Ft John Dunn Cran & Chrissie Dalgety 3 970365 J R Bromac 6 g R55 3 Ft Blair Orange Ken Barron 4 405630 McCrikey 5 g R55 4 Ft Ricky May Greg & Nina Hope 5 613312 Casino Action 4 g R57 5 Ft Carter Dalgety(J) Cran & Chrissie Dalgety 6 6L5924 Evangalist 5 m R57 6 Ft Sarah O'Reilly(J) Jason & Ian Thomas 7 049074 Jazelle 7 m R57 7 Ft Zachary Butcher Matt Purvis 8 247X21 Winegum 4 g R57 8 Ft Bob Butt Bob Butt 9 047647 Doctor Tim 9 g R58 9 Ft Sam Thornley(J) Michael House points update>> SarahO'Reilly 4 pts, Carter Dalgety 3 Points (crikey he's getting close now)
  2. Things can only get worse there (as more will leave?) as nice horse Cranbourne picks up $42,000 tonight first start in Oz. I have Said for a long time he should of been here ages ago. He only earned $42,000 there in 12 starts since last Feb when he won a couple. 10 months training expenses must of chewed a bit of that up?. Such a quality horse deserves a crack at the big-time. and the chance to actually win some money. Defeated the Interdominion Champion 'I Cast No Shadow' in a provincial group 2 Shepperton Cup tonight. good on him. big money Hunter Cup looms large ?? BTW.... Robin Butts 2 horses racing well in the west. Minstrel 2nd in the 175k Freo Cup (Himself 4th for the Butts too) Himself winning 100k in golden Nugget there in Dec. Butts will be the wealthiest owners in Nz shortly lol. unless they already moved over to Perth which is nice place with great harness racing.
  3. One's a bit faster than Paleface Adios.? this Nz mare pretty sharp .?
  4. No chance mate. you would take my last few dollars ๐Ÿ˜. I would suggest that all through the year Carter will only get the odd 'outside' the stable drive and be on a winner from the 3 drives per meeting average that he has (which is very good) and Sarah would get a winner from 5 drives. (a bit like today.) So yes he is likely to have a better UDR. Plus i just watched the AJIRA drive today . Absolutely perfect mate. 10/10 from me. Let the horse balance early , timed run beautifully, used the Whip way better than a lot of the other drivers, (Looked like Cam Hart or pete McMullen style who are great young aussie drivers ) .So definitely a point to your boy there today .๐Ÿ† Won't it be great if Sarah gets to drive Ajira on Sunday against Carter on Casino Action ?? ๐Ÿ˜Š Can't wait to see !!!!
  5. The head to heads see Carter drawn 9 alley today Brodie, with Casino Action (Sarah at the Pole-marker) R8 Nelson. and on Tuesday at Ashvegas Carter drawn the very outside again with Pink Panther Bounce in the juniors. Sarah on Topaz on the second row. Your boy is gunna have to at his Very Best to Pull off the 2 Wins ?? How good is he ?? Plus I'm giving Sarah a point for LONE WOLF. no Carter in that one but too bad ๐Ÿ˜‰ . Sarah drove a special ๐Ÿ˜‚ points update SarahO'Reilly 4 pts, CarterDalgety 2 pts.
  6. The LONE WOLF . There goes a point for Sarah I think Mr Brodie? ๐Ÿ˜. what a drive to beat Dunn's hotpot R6 !!!
  7. They had better start growing some then ๐Ÿ˜‰? first 2 races have just completed and their 2 favourites in those were very very average. G O'Reilly winning the trot. A very good driver that bloke.
  8. I'm gunna go number 6 Killinchy Kid with a very good driver/ trainer combo as the one you like ???????? think is the one I'd go for anyway. Aeronaut has SarahO driving , so that would be my quinella lol.... keep it all in the family ๐Ÿ’ฐ. 1 4 Sailor Boy 3 g MR50 1 Ft Samantha Ottley Mark Jones 2 California Dreaming 4 g MR50 2 Ft Robbie Close Murray Pash 3 225X42 Michael Caine 4 g MR49 3 Ft Ricky May Greg & Nina Hope 4 8 Fergalicious 3 f MR49 4 Ft John Dunn Robert & Jenna Dunn 5 Forte Lustre 4 g MR50 5 Ft Zachary Butcher Ivan Court 6 4X3505 Killinchy Kid 3 f MR47 6 Ft Gerard O'Reilly Geoff & James Dunn 7 6X33 Aeronaut 4 g MR49 7 Ft Sarah O'Reilly(J) Brent & Tim White 8 33 Remy Brown 3 f MR50 8 Ft Blair Orange Ken Barron 9 0 Divine Angel 3 f MR49 9 Ft Bob Butt Robert & Jenna Dunn 10 9P Borntobearockstarr 4 g MR48 U1 Ft Kyle Cameron Tim Fensom
  9. Hahaha Yeah Tim Williams could outdrive all them blind-folded (me ,you, galah and stewards as well ๐Ÿ˜‚). gets beat once and he's the criminal of the century. There was great debate here with the Saginaw drive at Addington when the same thing happened. think I lost that arguement too lol... (i'm ALWAYS on the side of the Driver ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ†) Happy wasn't too happy at all, that i gave these drives the 'All-clear to Pay' hahaha. But what can you do ? these blokes go out race after race and give a GREAT Sight. one slip and you're crap ? hahaha
  10. Mate , this young Grimson bloke sure has something going on. We can all hope it's 'above board' but man , you have to wonder. The stewards even locked down the whole stable in the isolation barn once for a month at Menangle to see what was going on .(under cameras and that) but found nothing. I agree the speed and stamina of these horses defies history as well as belief. Some of the biggest cheats were running with the elephant juice (especially at the gallops) late last century .Now that was a strong mix and did crazy things to the horses. (n.b not administered anywhere I was) but there were several cases in Qld . did it make it to Nz ? The Perth Cup story with Rocket Racer , one of the greatest hidden stories ever lol...๐Ÿ˜‚ check that one out , incredible.
  11. Don't worry mate . you should hear him carry on about Marky boy or Ben Hope when he winds up lol. Nz Junior Luke Whittaker now gets a good go in Brisbane . It's the place to be if young and wanting drives as race 6 days a week here. When I started out in Nz you got one drive a month in junior races , fighting like hell for a drive against Mark, Mango and Co at Auckland. Iceman Tony had just 'mopped' the floor with us all too. they'd be winning , while the rest of us were 'crashing' in the demolition Derbies probationary races lol๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚. kiwi lad Jack Trainor doing well in Sydney. Best hope for young Nz driver ??? go to Australia. heaps of drives available. (and heaps of old kiwi horses too lol.) not much left there North Island these days ?
  12. Think that bloke should of kept driving. Excellent driving record 20 odd years ago . World Driving Champion too !! In 1999 he won the Australasian Young Drivers Championship, then a years later, in his last as a junior before Harness Racing NZ decreed he should lose his junior status for being too successful, he reined 100 winners in a season for the first time. Twelve months later, in his first term as an open driver, Mark won the NZ Drivers Premiership with 116 wins _ at the time a record for a South Island-based driver. At 22, he also became the youngest driver by a few months to win a NZ Drivers Premiership, eclipsing Maurice Holmes, who won his first premiership at the same age in 1931. At the end of that memorable 2000-2001 season, Mark enjoyed a memorable night at Moonee valley, Melbourne, winning both the Australasian Breeders Crown 3YO Fillies Final with Sparks A Flyin, and 3YO Trotters Final behind Locofoco. Training is a bit Lean for Mark ??? A 'Forbury' 4 year old championship a highlight ? lol BIGGEST TRAINING WINS: 2010 NZ Trotting Derby & Hambletonian Classic (Shezoneotheboyz), 2010 Forbury 4YO Championship (Crystal Star).
  13. It's hard to win a race without a whip to keep the horses mind on the job at hand. Exhibit A/ we had a feature race the other night at Bendigo . The $75k G2 Bendigo Cup . An ex-pat Nz horse 'Major Meister' won the race after a SUPREME , BRILLIANT Whip drive from the budding star driver Cameron Hart. Not a 'hope in hell' he would of gone anywhere near winning without the whip in that race. Looked like Vinnie Knight to me as he stormed to Victory. Fantastic Stuff. check the replay on Aus harness site and be impressed !!
  14. Mr Galah has turned into a nightmare for the Telfer barn. Most are in awe that someone is pushing Allstars and even getting one of their main men on board this year after changing camps. (Cullen) best of luck to them all. Whatever maths The Galah and Basil want to use , it is safe to say that Every Barn is at risk of a heart failure or a lung bleed with their stock, and most with a moderate to large number of horses would of experienced the pain of a 'drop-dead' at some stage and Will again in the future. Gallops stables have even 'finer' animals that are even more pre-disposed to sudden collapse from what i've seen. I feel very sad to learn that INKY LORD passed in this manner today. (and generally just sad reading this thread)
  15. The horses bodies are put under extreme pressure as racehorses. I'm surprised more of them don't have heart attacks. Plenty of them have burst vessels in the respiratory system though. and serve 3 months for a bleed. The heart a little tougher than lungs. happens somewhere daily. Knee chips, cracked bones , bowed tendons , all sorts of things go on , (as per human athletes) It's what you get when you put a large animal under flat out duress at various points. Why some want to blame 'one' stable is a Mystery. It happens at every stable at some stage. and of course it is 'Way more Likely' to occur at a stable that has 1/ Has More Horses 2/ Horses that go faster/harder 3/ therefore sadly the leading stables have more equine stars that fit the bill. Even Popular Alm snapped a pedal bone trying so hard for Vinnie. Plenty broke down there, as sadly have Allstars had to endure . And now Telfers as they get Bigger , Faster and more numbers. All these stables (every stable) Love Their Horses. There is No conspiracy to kill your Horses. natural attrition unfortunately.
  16. Mr Bottle in trouble lately with car bomb threats and all (that's working as a greyhound official for quite a while now) must be some bad shit going on. Worked with Vinnie for a while . One of the true greats. Drove very averagely (with aggression ) but won every second race he was in ., Because he had the greatest 'Will to Win' , i've ever seen. Didn't want to get beaten ever and just went for it 100% everytime. Attack from the outset most of the time. what a competitor... had lovely daughters too, when he shot himself over an affair. (FFS vinnie the stupidity......... ) Even in more recent times (10 years ago) a steward gave the 'Green light' to certain trainers at certain meetings their horse would Not Be Swabbed in certain races. He got caught and arrested eventually. But NSW leading driver Greg Bennett got 7 years, (has served his time now but I believe the panel won't even give him a stablehands license these days ๐Ÿ˜‚) And the Trainer 'Russo' got 100 years DQ , now that is a loooong sentence lol. Also One of the famous Fitzpatrick family (cameron) got 12 years. He is due back late this year. Matt Gleeson got 100 years in the 90's, but not sure why the 'Colgate Kid' Chris Gleeson didn't have another crack after serving his sentence from their 1990's debacle.. The fun and games that go on for a buck lol.
  17. Well Sam Payne has spoilt the party with a well timed run with 'Anna Love' to take the Junior Drivers race above. (R6 today) and costing me the quinella. Carter Dalgety with a near perfect drive takes 2nd placing , heading off Sarah (3rd with 'Better be Sharp') as they came up the long grassy straight. So yes , it's a point to Carter sadly, and Brodster getting ever closer to the pace (and the money) Points Update = Sarah O'Reilly 3 points, Carter Dalgety 2 points.
  18. Next round about to go.!! Carter v Sarah Race 6 today. I'm all for Sarah to take the choc's from the good draw. Davis will be backing Sarah I'm sure. You had BETTOR BE SHARP mr Brodie ๐Ÿ˜‰ with Carter under the pump, if you want the points today ? lol... current head to head points from above in thread Sarah 3, Carter 1.. could they quinella today? Hey is that the amatuer driver getting a run in this today ?(Fitzzy) here's the field. 1 713778 Anna Love 4 m R49 1 Ft Sam Payne(J) Sam Payne 2 20X222 Just Holla 7 g R49 2 Ft Ellie Barron(J) Ken Barron 3 133343 Theresa Love 5 m R50 3 Ft Carter Dalgety(J) Regan Todd 4 655221 Bettor Be Sharp 4 g R50 4 Ft Sarah O'Reilly(J) Gerard O'Reilly 5 3119X1 Morries Girl 5 m R50 5 Ft Andrew Fitzgerald(J) Greg & Nina Hope 6 95810X Sonic Reign 8 g R52 6 Ft Siv Diamant(J) Lyn Prendergast 7 255230 Azor Ahai 4 g R54 7 Ft Devon van Til(J) Ken Barron 8 014469 Kowhai Shadow 6 m R54 8 Ft Gemma Thornley(J) Mark Jones 9 1078X8 First Class 5 g R54 9 Ft Mark Hurrell(J) Regan Todd ------------------ Second Line ------------------ 10 188053 Szybka Lane 7 m R53 10 Ft Wilson House(J) Graeme Telfer 11 422140 Motor Mouth 6 g R50 11 Ft Olivia Thornley(J) Joseph Gray 12 008906 Eldolar 10 g R51 12 Ft Anj Mugford(J) Lionel Dobbs 13 77P870 Red Right Hand 5 g R54 13 Ft Tom Bamford(J) Andrew Stuart 14 1X0909 Maren Franco 5 m R54 14 Ft Mikayla Lewis(J) Leo O'Reilly
  19. Well there goes the Bendigo Cup ๐Ÿ† tonight. Grimson is at it again?. more on the money than Brodster that bloke ๐Ÿ’ฐ. That Major Meister winning after being last at the bell. Then cannoning into the back of a retiring horse down the back straight, and with Cam Hart driving whip high up, aka like Vin Knight, for the last 1/2 a lap , Laps up the Victory !! like Vinny would of. And to boot as well, and gobsmack everyone, the very old 'Claimer' horse Sicario , another old ex-pat kiwi, runs 2nd in the race for a Grimson quinella ๐Ÿ˜ฏ. How the hell does he do this sort of improvement to these old horses?
  20. There's a lot of Pullers in some of the Clans. wee bit of a tug here and there.... time to rally the clan Chief.
  21. Mate , you must have money 'to burn' if you're getting on these amateur drivers races. However I thought you were a big place punter? and you seemed to Tip the horse Changearound in your Thread opener. So I thought you were 'on the Money' ?? With it running 2nd. The horse had the most experienced , winningist , professional driver too. Sheryl Wigg. And it paid $2.50 place Sportsbet. so not too shabby. nearly took it on your recommendation lol but you scared me in the end lol.
  22. seriously How good is Derek Jones?. never stop hearing these great stories of him. Even some of my Queensland trotting buddies including Chris Garrard got to go over and stay with him in the 80's and had a blast. One of the best men ever in harness racing for sure is Derek. Did plenty of behind the scenes stuff too. Here in photo he has done a little of what you say too , Derek taking his Nz Trotting Cup winner HANDS DOWN along to Riccarton to give 'harness racing' a bit more publicity with the galloping folk in Cup week . How cool is that ?? The grey horse in the photo was that years NZ galloping Cup winner . what a magic moment in time . Think Hands Down fell over too but Peter Jones has gathered him up ok thankfully lol.....
  23. Yes aren't they great little meetings and well attended. very enjoyable day out. those clubs do it so well. Brisbane only have the 4 feature harness meeting Saturdays each July for the whole year . The new $1/4 million "Rising Sun" race run on the last two years. I went 2021 to get a look at Copy That (2nd), Amazing Dream (1st) and Krug (4th) , So nearly the BIG Nz Trifecta !! Very excited and great racing BUT, distinctly remember thinking 'Where's the Crowd ?" to look at those beautiful horses.?? no-one in a city of 2-3 million interested ??. same size as Auckland I guess . so was shocked by the 'drop in the ocean roll-up' that you mentioned happens at Auckland too. terrible.... I only remember thronging crowds the years I went there. Go Delightful Lady and co lol ! Guilty myself last Winter here, as didn't even bother to go along ๐Ÿ˜ฉ, and see 'Ladies in Red' win the Rising Sun at Albion . (she's had 27 starts for 22 wins and 5 seconds life-time now) wow ! quite astounding. Gamma slack like everyone else ......... so yes, I am 'barking mad' thinking people would of gone to see dual Cup winner 'Copy That' the other night in a feature race late in the evening. Times have changed.๐Ÿ˜ช . and then he didn't win anyway . bit like this thread lol...
  24. I just don't get this huge worry about the size of the field. There's been 'small' fields all year at Auckland?? . The Thames Summer Cup (worth about 50k like Franklin Cup) had only 7 runners in it in mid- December. 'Copy That' won it easy off 30m behind, beating a very low ranked horse . (Hey Bartender 5 wins from 10 starts). Why a horse with that few starts/wins has to take on Copy That is a mind-boggling mystery. (Rush to Aus with it is the best thing for that horse James Stormont) . Still Copy That was impressive and scared off opponents for this next assignment. Scrap the race because he scared off opponents this time round ?? seems so silly to me. Doesn't everyone love a double Nz Cup winner and want to go to races to see him ? Lazarus did the same and must of had the same effect on fields at the time ? The Group 1 'Queens of Hearts' had a field of 8 on that mid Dec Auckland program . If it was just 4 acceptors would you scrap it and use the 90k elsewhere.? no , let those that want to have a go get the glory !! Luckily 7 fillies turned up from the South island to give it a crack. The local horse ran a good 3rd too. The Southerners Came BECAUSE the Prizemoney was good . this is a good thing. Is Not a waste of money giving it to the Best around. They deserve their big paydays. And the betting Public deserve to see the best go round even if the race is a betting disaster. Winx was always $1.10 fav, scared the opponents off, but 20,000 extra patrons went to the course on the days she raced !! Promote your good horses ..
  25. Well the Galah and Michael and Brodie may well have Not wanted the Franklin Cup run , and I'm a bad guy and un-intelligent for enjoying the race and wanting it run. But still I LIKE seeing the best the Country strut their stuff. If you had better prize money and better programming (handicapper) the likes of Mach Shard, Alta Orlando , Star Gallaria , Spirit of St Louis , Honey Queen would still be there racing. (and been IN the Franklin Cup) I think it's very sad the 'cancelling' of races , that you all demand be cancelled (even when you've got fuck-all happening now anyway) , as Forced the Nz owners to race overseas . tragic beyond words in my mind. How do they see their horse race? unless taking expensive flights all the time .... But what the F do I know ...the un-intelligent non supporting one apparently. Cancel next weeks races and save some money then. ? that's good viewing . Congrats to the connections of Alta Wiseguy too. !! a great exciting race and drive and well deserved.
