  1. You guys never driven obviously
  2. The promise of things to come Brodie, being treated like a state of Australia in all walks of life. Previous administrators pissed all the money up against the wall, with the peasants, the racing fraternity, left to fight for the scraps. At least now we have some people willing to try things and who understand the waging landscape, not jobs for the boys , some broken down public servant in charge. As much as I like your sentiment Brodie, if this had happened years ago, I think we’d be in a better position than what we are now. My 2 cents worth.
  3. I’m running out of popcorn 🍿
  4. Graham Brown ran a world mile record for a yearling at 2:05.9. mid eighties for Gordon
  5. Geez galah, all I did was disagree with your assessment, didn’t think it was a bad drive at all, it put the high speed horse exactly where you wanted him, parked, but in the end he was too good anyway, and MM got some $. I’d love to own him( his 2nd in the Interdominion due to him not taking the passing lane at the right time). I’ve called out bad drives in the past but I don’t think IMO this one was and I don’t expect you to psycho analyse every step taken in a race. It’s called racing because horses race other horses, certainly gave Ben Hope something to think about and he handled that well. Jonny Cox showed his class in the next few races, and no one was hurt FYI - there is a First4 option which I personally love 😎. ps take it easy, love your passion & debate, always something to talk about when racing is concerned, it ain’t an exact science.
  6. Yawn Aussies… no surprises there.
  7. Hearsay Hearsay Most people in my circle thought good on him for having a crack, did make MM work for the win. Glad I never drove for you galah.
  8. I disagree, thought it was a good drive by JC. You can’t just go out and hand it to MM because he’s favourite, make him work for it. Plus, he had the stablemate come calling who he handed too(blue stars worthy), and he had the trail most of the way, gave both of PW’s chance to beat the best horse in the race, otherwise, it would of been a procession, and I agree, MM does tend to ease the pace when leading and then sprint hard. They were 1/2 a length away from having him 3 back fence. As an owner I wouldn’t have been unhappy with the drive, neither PW at a guess. Good to see a bit of aggression and Aussie type steering 👍. Come in Gamma 😎
  9. Three Canterbury bred youngsters there Gamma 😎
  10. JW Smolenski was the Derby King in his day
  11. Morning Gamma As below: R5: 1 & 2(lead/trail?) R6: 7 & 12( two NZ boys to outdrive the others over distance) R7: 1 & 7(lead/trail?) Picking lead/trail in The MM? Please try and keep it down if that little Queenslander hits the front. Cheers ps might all be moving there the way Harness is heading over here.
  12. Yes, interesting decision. Has a whiff of unfairness and heavy handedness to me, and because of that, dos'nt seem right. I don't know how legal it is by just being a licenced person , that an officer can come onto your property, especially if you're not present.
  13. Hi Gammalite Thanks for this Give us #’s 2 & 7 in all three goes, keeping it simple for the Aussie score man.
  14. The very good galloper Braless was by Showoff II, brilliant.
  15. I think Colin would know, after how many years doing it, if a horse was giving its best. It appears to me the horse was… dead right Brodie, stipes can’t have it both ways. Want the public perception of not whipping, but someone of Colin’s stature needs to change the way he drives to make it look like he’s trying a bit harder.

  17. I think it is you that has to get with the here and now Chieftan, otherwise we won’t have an industry at all. Yeah right, and still doing it.
  18. The Cockroach
  19. Geez you're a protaganist Chief, fish indeed. A horse is totally different to any other livestock creature I know( the French may have a different opinion) , and with you're background you'd know that. You get in tune with a horse, moreso than any other domesticated animal. I could pull the trigger on any other animal but a horse, only if it was suffering. If there was a live horsemeat market, to say , France, you'd be okay with that? Not in my universe, though in some ways it maybe kinder than ending up on the island of Tasmania, if all those reports are correct. I think animal abuse & cruelty should be called out wherever it is, horses don't recognise borders. Should be simple enough to put in place a ban on all exports entering Tasmania or the like. My 10c worth.
  20. Not from this side of the Tasman, that one.
  21. Maradona You know full well Gammalite, that was the hand of God, right there, FFS, next thing you’ll be questioning Jim O’Sullivan’s use of the whip in the ‘87 Interdominion Final…
  22. Thanks Walt I was standing down at the 200m mark and Delightful Lady definitely had a 1/2 length on Hands Down then, Peter sitting as quiet as a church mouse, learnt a lot that day…be in front at the post, not before 😎. A little bit of trivia for you, once parked HD in a race, thought I’d outstay him, good judge that I am, ha!
  23. As much as Entain think we are, we aren’t Aussies, who have an embedded gene in their DNA to have a punt. Seems like we are being treated like another state of Australia.
  24. I remember reading a study on Hong Kong racing( best practice in the world) years ago where as the number of races went down, the number of $100+ punters per race went up, and more than covered the turnover of more races. In saying that, it’s hard to take in isolation as they follow that up with horse symposiums, punter education and really treat any punter as a client, enticing them to gamble. Less is more sometimes.
