  1. Might not be long and these forums get closed down, as voicing an opinion is no longer deemed acceptable by the heirachy.
  2. My thoughts are if Auckland do continue, then relocate, build a bigger track that goes the same way as Cambridge, and yes have a training complex too, and have facillities in line with the number of people who go these days seriously it must be a nightmare on the roads every Friday for both horse trucks and the public, and that would be another negative for people going, either that or slowly die a slow death, change is good sometimes, I know we bang on about the Auckland situation but the present situation is tired and needs rejuvenating.
  3. True about Betfair, it was a bit micky mouse in some ways but a serious punter could request odds wait to get matched and a cashout offer, a fair one was always on screen, the issue is live info which was on 365 is gone, I used to get notifications when points were scored in rugby or league, goals and corners in soccer, home runs or runs in baseball, etc etc no sight does that now, have no issue with what TAB offer in live sport as such but it's almost like we've regressed back to the 70s 80s or 90s, if you push everything off the web from accessing then many don't know thd difference after time so new punters don't know, maybe the new punters will take up the slack from the ones they lose. As for racing I'm easy o about what the TAB offer, whether or not the patronage increases remains to be seen, I just have doubts spending will increase, for me I will still have a burst now and then, for Sport probably a lot less if at all, I'm not alone on that from what I'm hearing or reading.
  4. People punt on the tote if there is plenty of depth in the fields like the country grass meetings, kind of let the market determine the payout, so many harness races have such skinny odds without fixed odds you wouldn't bother, they should encourage not discourage some punters on the fixed, they win more than punters do.
  5. Just reading this story, if the government is funding Entain 119 mill a year, to allow Entain to meet its 150 mill commitment, that looks a bigger mickey mouse outfit than before, seems they put 150 mill to start, and another 100 coming but the governments playing Santa Claus,, if turnover don't lift to the levels they hope, then they will need to revert back to living within their means, Harness racing has been living beyond, don't have a opinion for the gallops.
  6. No but from the sporting live perspective any time night or day you could find some sport happening, from a football match in Brazil to the MLB or NBA, if you've been over to 365s platform you know what I mean, as regards to live play, I'm not bagging TABs betting options, but 365 sent notifications if a goal or corner or a homer was scored in some ways losing that for sport is probably a parallel to what trackside radio was for racing, it just gets less accessible, so you dont go there as much, some will disagree some not. At present sports nation is I believe only available in Southland now online, and the usual critics are out, bad internet or can't get cricket on radio in car, itz part of summer things like that I think people underestimate the value of some things only when they are gone. At this point I'm not interested in Betcha, same company running 2 places, can't be much different.
  7. Betting live on sports, the platform is hard to navigate, bet365 was brilliant layout, I used that for live scores, but bet on TAB, the options they have are fine, since 365s gone so hard to stay informed. As for Racing, the jury's out.
  8. Me thinks I'm going to stop betting on sports completely, as for racing, good question.
  9. The Herilys and the like they could move, Pukekohes trainers may be soon if they're is no traing centre.😎 I'm really just taking the piss😁
  10. Now come on Gamma why be negative about Westport ?..the Boxing Day meeting they run is one of the biggest event turnover wise for the season, if the funds generated went back to the Club then maybe they could run a Kaikoura type meeting instead of running a 25000 cup race thats seems to begetting decimated more and more each year by running same ratings race in Canterbury 3 days later, why should they be subsidizing Auckland who are losing the industry money, gee got to stand up for the little guys here, it's not all about the ribbon of light.
  11. I think Harness Racing have a small band of loyal supporters, but as time goes by that number will slowly dwindle, there are many meetings that simply have no appeal to people, no different to a lot of our Rugby in using a synergy, if that's the right word, it's happening there too. Entain can't lose as long as they stay in for the long haul.
  12. Maybe purely my imagination, the quaddie at Addington was better, but today's figures up till now not flash.
  13. Today's 2 meetings so far, very ordinary, could that be because of 2 meetings..........but contradicting that Friday nights 2 meeting looked a slight improvement, no Friday night rugby, could that be a factor?
  14. Most of the markets for many sports they could do without but I've noticed no corner betting on USA soccer once game kicks off, might be same for other games too, that and goals are the 2 good options for live soccer, along with head to head and halftime markets, many of the others are not necessary, truth be known no one bothers with them.
  15. Sports betting helps the overall income generated, but I'm picking sports betting to take a hit, the in play platform bet365 had has disappeared, how does that matter, well having info up to second is vital for live play, you had one page with all the soccer games or baseball etc etc I always used that for info but bet on TAB who do offer a pretty good offering but it lags a wee bit, no longer getting notifications means I've got 2 choices stop betting live or stare at the screen as I don't get notifications anymore, that would get tiresome.
  16. Some of these points have some validity, there a pros for and against running 2 meetings on same day,, one you are engaging harness fans on Friday and Sunday for 4 meetings who for various reasons may not engage if all those 4 meetings were at different times, people do have to live outside the internet sometime other things come along but the long intervals is not good, setting times on Sunday will be helped when the dogs cease, by rights gallops should only race 1 meeting on Sunday, they get Saturday, Harness Sunday, more than likely most bets come in the last 3 minutes, take note of the pools and you will see so running 3 meetings can work nicely with 10 minute gaps. The other issues of overspending on 2yo racing in particular and the handicapping , we've all discussed them in great detail but gettingn those things right will improve the product from a financial viewpoint, which is number 1 2 and 3 when looking forward.
  17. Blocking betting on overseas sites won't alter betting on harness racing, I'm not really sure if it will affect racing as a whole but it would be a bit rich if both equine codes glady accepted proceeds from greyhound racing from Oz if it's a no goer here.........but sports betting will be, losing the up to date live sport platform of bet365 means info will now feed slower into people and if that info is slow who loses out, TAB, you could use 365 for info but thd TAB site for punting, when it comes to live sports betting seconds lost can make a big difference,
  18. Imagine how frustrating it must be for Southern trainers having to travel and then turning around and going home without even racing, spend all that time and cost for nought.
  19. Good points, to the first post, maybe those thoughts and Mark Jones comments should be taken to heirachy of HRNZ and get their ideas, or explain their gameplan.
  20. If you have room, add me.
