  1. Could be fake news, I guess many hope it is aye.
  2. Galah you note they are boasting about the big surge in betting for the Southern Surge series but they didn't mention the extra races, bigger fields, better dates and stakes but breaking it down is it, increased stakes, increased betting, maybe when it's all broken down, maybe it's exactly the same as last year, but the positives are owners, trainers, drivers get a better return, don't lose sight of the fact Southlands had one of it's best July/August weather for sometime, that helps, often if the weather turns crap sometimes they just pull the pin for a while, nature sometimes works for you sometimes not, exactly the same for dairy farmers.
  3. Now come on Brodie, me old mate TAB 4 EVER will be after you for Auckland bashing.
  4. The biggest problem with NZ Racing is the continual obsession in NZ of worrying about what Australia are doing, but look, different country's, different mentality to gambling, different weather and different populations, has it actually been much different, there are a lot of average stuff in OZ too, it's not all Flemington and Randwick, small crowds here is only the end product of TV, it's made people apathetic, ain't going to change that but Addington can still pack a good crowd on Cup Day.
  5. Had a sleep, nice and peaceful, no traffic and rush rush around here and I'm a wee bit worried for TABs state of mind, regarding his thoughts that no one gives a toss about NPC, not sure if the people at the head of NZ Rugby would agree, where do our next batch of players hone their craft, not sure if Shadbolt saved the South from extinsion, doing nicely as it is really just doing what it is best at , Farming, what the South earns for the Country per capita would outstrip anywhere else, some just don't understand such things. Anyway not much point carrying on this discussion, as it ain't going nowhere.
  6. Maybe you stand to be the Mayor, of Auckland.
  7. HRNZ news item hailing Southern Surge success, significant increase in turnover, didn't mention significant increase in races 11 race cards as opposed to 7, Sundays instead of Thursdays and better fields with bigger stakes, be nice if someone would break it down in real terms before shouting from the rooftops, should factor in Southlands had its best July August weather for many years, just putting it out there.
  8. we all need a laugh sometimes.it gets better near the end
  9. If guy above claims that 90% win and place is fixed then based on 6500 and 3500 =10000 total tote pool would equivilate to 100000, bet win and place, combined, tote and fixed turnover meaning a million turnover on 10 races plus exotics, , now those smaller tote pools may be based on say Friday night Addington, gallops on Saturday might do 45000 win tote so do your sums, I'm not hearing 3 or 4 mill bet on Saturday racing from anywhere, so the claim of 90% fixed sounds like bullshit.
  10. Gee I might need a holiday lol, market mover is in race 3 not 2. number 1.
  11. I correct myself, wasn't a surge race, silly me.
  12. That's a Southern Surge race yet a horse trained in Canterbury, raced in Canterbury lines up today, why or how ? And in race 2 the market mover last time I looked was paying 45 on the tote, open fixed at 126, interesting.
  13. Wonder if TAB popped into Eden Park, not too many there but Auckland have reached a new low in provincial Rugby, joining Harbour and Counties trailing the field, now you see he don't see things as others see things on many things, so laugh if he must but I'm in a very large silent majority who think the same way, I'm still trying to find people around where I am with 6 fingers, maybe he's got his wires crossed. Interestingly a good interview of Peter Williams on the platform the other day of his move to Central Otago, all those years to eventually see the light but we will concede he didn't go to Auckland because he liked the place, he went as his job was there.
  14. In my brief visit shopping yesterday managed to spot a couple more one armed shoppers, personally seems to me be easier to put phone in pocket and use 2 hands.
  15. But it is interesting, betting figures always have been.
  16. I would believe those figures if every meeting was individually displayed in all its glory somsomewhere.
  17. Doomed, if you switch over to Harness Racing 5 or 6 in a race is common and some dont even seem concerned, for now.
  18. Tact McLeod, will be interesting to see if he can reproduce last years efforts., be a hard act to follow.
  19. The best ones were the ones in late January, I'm sure if the stake eclipsed the Hunter Cup a week or two later then it would take precedence if Cup at A Park was in January.
  20. And Gamme next time you go out take note of those who have smartphone in one hand especially while driving, just as well cars are automatic I guess lol. Be interesting to see how people would be able to do their shopping if they only had one arm.
  21. People vacate the larger centers for Xmas, and especially New Year, Auckland have messed around for years with their Cup Date, now moving back to New Year impacts on Omakaus main races, I believe they objected to the switchback but was rejected by HRNZ, even visually running when it does with all those monstrosities of building shading a large part of the track is not a good look, as for when , that's a hard one, I'm sure there is a solution, they never have in Auckland what Addington have, never will.
  22. TAB I hope you are enjoying the NPC, 3 Auckland teams, 12th 13th and 14th of 14, maybe they could all merge and just have one, make a nice even dozen for next year, it looks like the Blues will be looking elsewhere for their recruits as well, maybe Canterbury have a few spare, do you think you could see if Alexandra Park could find another date for the Auckland Cup, why would anyone want to spend New Years eve in Auckland, and I'm sure trainers and the like would prefer to be at Omakau instead, that's where the top Pacers should be at New Year, following the crowd, laugh if you like but that seems smarter to me, following on nicely from the Invercargill Cup. I'm just trying to be logical.
  23. Facebook, good for lost and found animals, classifieds and comments on one or two of the news sites, plenty of fake shit though.
  24. I've just been to my local supermarket, and I observe people and just how addictive they are to their smartphone, only seem to use one hand, I guess now that we don't have access to many of the online betting sites it should reduce my time on mine, I use to be on bet365, betfair and TAB,spent ages on those 3 sites once Trackside Radio went, and as I use to have a couple of bucks on most races while working, i listened through headphones, but once radio went I stopped, only bet on races when I'm at home now, and now that we have lost 365 and the like added to the substandard in play platform, will spend bugger all time on sports too. The internet is the biggest addiction in modern society, we are all addicted but recently on my smartphone I now only buy call and text, so when I'm out I don't use the net, only at home, I do spend lots of time online at home, You Tube, only on Facebook for ond or two things, why I want to post a photo of having a pie for lunch is mindboggling and a couple of the racing forums. Strange world we live in.
