  1. Despite the fact that it's free in tercourse, even that hasn't helped crowds many who do go probably gave up that pastime long ago🥸
  2. I note Mr House has pointed out horses placed 5th don't lose a rating point,(may have been only 4) but the ratings system allows for manipulation which means sometimes they ain't trying, I still believe 6 starts after a win before you get any ratings relief, genuine struggles get help, maybe under that system they might all be trying, also the maidens don't have a rating until they win, but then should a maiden that beats 5 at Manawatu get same penalty as winning against 14 at Methven, lots of anomalies, why they continue to have rating 120 the max is beyond me.
  3. They could investigate the possibility of a mini meeting at Ascot Park or something similar.
  4. I'm not so sure if all in the media are excited about things, a lot are probably told what to or not to say or its see ya later, its probably the same when it comes to not talking about place prices pre race, I still havnt seen anyone on trackside denouncing the Greyhound ban, it's obvious why. As for the money from Entain, I wasn't aware how much the Government were supporting Entain until this week, I can actually live with that if that was and is the agreement before they signed the deal, be different though if it was simply a bail out, that would be different.
  5. I'd be betting Wingatui tomorrow is a no goer.........have Trentham had heaps of rain, if so are they a goer, you only hope they don't wait until race 1 to find out either way.
  6. Now that legislation has been passed, what is the split between codes for the 100 mill or whatever Entain are paying.
  7. Nothing on HRNZs website about Mr Jones thoughts but it does state though that with legislation passed regarding Entain, Harness racing future is secure, hard to know what to believe, 5 years I've been here, about the time of the covid crash and the fallout racing wise, what are the odds another readjustment in 3 years time, me think odds are short.
  8. Gee I thought Rangitira, not like you to write such long sentences until I got to the end, good article, one or two here say the same, but how many others?
  9. Don't know anything about it but we need them more than they need us.
  10. Wouldn't it be rich if Australia stopped allowing NZ residents to bet on Australian Racing due to the fact that NZ resudents can't bet on their site?
  11. Just reading the story again about the government funding Entain, it says it's in the agreement, well that is a bit different, if that's what it is sobeit, it dont appear to be a bailout, should they though, that's up for debate.
  12. Well it is nice to know you have choice, TAB or Betcha, can't be all that bad after all.
  13. Everyone has to live within their means, if the government is propping up Entain that isnt a good and then for how long, or is the Greyhound man in charge telling porkies as he has a are to grind?
  14. Brodie if the story I read regarding how much the government is gifting Entain to meet their commitments in this new deal is true then clearly these guys are even worse than the TAB was allowing for the fact they have more backing, it also raises the issue in regards to the bribe Entain are dangling in regards to geo blocking going through, who is actually going to pay it? If these facts are in fact true then why have we not heard more about it, many taxpayers might not be impressed so much money is funding Entain and if it's true then the only verbal diarrhea being bleated on here is coming from one poster who claiming a good time to get involved when shortly it might be best to jump ship, only time will tell.
  15. The issue isn't about Cambridge running Tuesday/ Thursday, just at this time of the year maybe one meeting per week in the North is sufficient, as the weather warms up and numbers supposedly then 2 days is probably fine, I'm sure they could run 12 races catering for all.
  16. 2 horse racing may be interesting but 2 horse fields might be the new norm someday, and who's going to punt if they like Trifectas and First Four only lol.
  17. Hard to believe the governments propping up Entain, maybe the old TAB wasn't as bad as we first thought but the hypocrisy of still allowing greyhound betting on aussie dogs when ours are over is strange. I also believe that geo blocking won't be the windfall they think it is. Most of the actions Peter's is instigating is being pushed by his high flying galloping mates up north who basically don't give a shit about anybody else but themselves, i doubt many of them even give a shit about racing south of cook straight, hence their desire to move more and more of the big races to Ellerslie.
  18. And if revenue remains static?
  19. The government is shelling out millions to Entain, really?
  20. What would be the point in selling a training centre to keep a course open when more than likely the supply of runners will more than likely dry up, can't have one without the other.
  21. Well would make more sense one day, travelling cost reduced, trackside crew don't do it for nought, you can make allowances for Manawatu or some areas a bit light sometimes but in the North, one day a week is sufficient, seems to be at the other end of the country.
  22. Only 5 races at Cambridge tomorrow, seems it would make more sense only one Northern meeting per week at present, with maybe 12 races, add to that if you bulk up field sizes you might get genuine winners instead of some winning by default, while as one poster says lots of happy owners but this can't be in the best interest of HRNZ.
  23. Now TAB man, we've already established the fact that crowds at Alexandra Park and Ellerslie are generally pathetic for the size of the place which is probably due to the fact that no one in Auckland basically gives a shit about horse racing but how does Auckland now produce less representatives in the ABs than the backwater place called Tasman, that part of the country NZTR have forgot that exist they have 4 and Auckland only have 3, but based on efforts in the NPC in recent times the gap should be greater, seems Aucklands becoming further out of touch with the rest of NZ, think many living there are too. Still haven't found anyone about with six fingers but we live in hope even though it seems there is not much hope for you.
  24. With only 8 races today at Riccarton, why not one maiden to make 9, not that many grass track opportunities around Christchurch at present.
