  1. So long since racing last held in Hawkes Bay many must have died off meaning lots of new race goers at Waipuk must be first timers lol, good crowd it seems.😁
  2. Maybe they had a look at one of their shows and saw what others saw and then thought what others thought as well
  3. I reckon the West Indies have finished early today so they can take in Out the Gate and Manawatu Trots 😁
  4. I'm going to sound like a stuck record but I reckon Blenhiem should be back on the calandar but not running your average run of the mill meeting but a feature meeting, which is a Wednesday Saturday, in summer, perfect place for a Canterbury v Central Districts meeting, if the likes of Michael House travels regurley across the straight for the Palmy trots whats wrong with the gallops guys doing it, eases the load of one or two tracks too, if Harness can do it with Kaikoura with big crowds why can't racing?
  5. You sure?
  6. Wouldn't guarantee Leap To Fame will win FFA either, might be a replica of the Cup with two hotshots canceling each other out, setting things up nicely for the likes of Merlin, we will see in time.
  7. Not sure if anything Mick says is gospel regarding punting, still enjoyed his chat with Mark Purdon.
  8. Be interesting to wind the clock back 10 years on these forums and know how many have expired, racing is the domain it seems the older generation......similar to callers on ZB, you just never know what's happened to them if they ain't been heard for sometime.
  9. Tasman Man, was he from Tasman, just curious?
  10. Looks like they all lucky to have a good job, be lean times if they were fulltime punters lol.
  11. The Herald reports around 15000, what to believe? Irrespective of that for the size of Christchurch and factoring in the influx of visitors in town for Cup day in reality it's probably only a splash in the bucket, people wise, the A and P Show is a different case completely, having said that they are still doing better than Ellerslie for it's big days.
  12. Maybe the reason so many finished so far behind is because the best ones are 100% on their game today, the cup is one example, some just ain't as good as others, sometimes with the ratings system as it is many just have a bye run a few times to get a lower rating, not today though. TV 1 news tonight said crowd of 10000, looked way down on other years, is Cup Day losing its impetus?
  13. Guess I wasn't far off, with my vision, never had a bet all day, somedays just don't bother but I can just enjoy the racing as it is, same for lots of Sport, not sure Entain would be so happy if everyone followed suit lol.
  14. Galah there must be a box seat special or a cup preview programme online somewhere from yesterday with Guerins and the others 100 dollar spend for the day somewhere, always interesting looking at things in hindsight.
  15. Place looks half empty, remember the days it was packed.
  16. Scandinavia race all year round, the gallops don't have those luxuries, not much they can do about that, no driver from Norway this time.
  17. My thoughts on the Cup 5 or 6 win unless, 5 or 6 cancel each other out and a swooper downs both, its possible but more likely to not happen than likely 🤠
  18. A rather significant day on Sunday, horse racing returning to Hawkes Bay😎
  19. Got to spare a thought for the 2 drivers from Scandinavia, back to winter soon.
  20. Don't tell our old friend TAB but Cambridge has 128 noms for Friday, how did that happen.........well maybe the fact that there is no Auckland this week may have something to do with it, might even be a racenight worth looking at. The path Cambridge is on is exactly the same as Forbury was on, poor dates and poor fields, I'm not even sure that Forburys demise was financial, more of a desire by HRNZ to race where the horse population is, Canterbury and Southland, but had Forbury retained those good meetings that they once had then may have still been there today.
  21. May be a few gaps in those trees now.
  22. Gee TAB I've missed ya, talk about air pollution, nothing like a good breeze now and then to clear the air, happens every year and you see the stiff breeze we just had means plenty of trees and firewood and heating for next winter, and the snow on the ground often kills the bugs, yet strangely I havnt seen snow recently but I heard it was somewhere, now I don't want to get into the Auckland knocking today but didn't Eden Park look sad last night for the Cricket, about as sad as Aucklands combined effort in the NPC you know that competition that in your eyes no one cares about yet strangely it appears your thoughts are often misguided , even people embraced the Ranfurly Shield, Don't know my neighbours too well but with a $10 plus payout for milk solids don't think too many will be struggling. Now TAB we may always agree to dis agree on things but you must not get so sensitive about things, but the nominations issue is always interesting, if you don't like them don't read them.
  23. 6 races at Manawatu, only 2 horses trained from up North, little bit of a anomaly in the dates setting here, everyone's focus is on Cup Week, and the extra day between races may not help, strange they just didn't slot Palmy in the following week on Tuesday, Thursday, , just my thoughts, the Greyhounds finishing soon won't help Palmy much, hard to know where or what the future holds in the CD moving forward, there are still a few trainers keeping it going, mind you the issues in Palmy or the CD ain't much different to the rest of the North Island.
  24. 67 noms for Manawatu, 31 at a rough guess from Michael House, only 3 trained in the Northern region, no matter which way you look at it it's going to be a full House at Manawatu lol.
  25. For Cup day only 7 noms, at a quick glance from Southland for Cup Day, how times have changed, they have a South Of The Waitaki race on Show Day that might drag some in, interestingly only 6 from Southland for day 1 at Riccarton as well, I suspect that the later days will improve. Noms will be out shortly for day 1 at Manawatu Monday, what will the numbers be?
