  1. The government is shelling out millions to Entain, really?
  2. What would be the point in selling a training centre to keep a course open when more than likely the supply of runners will more than likely dry up, can't have one without the other.
  3. Well would make more sense one day, travelling cost reduced, trackside crew don't do it for nought, you can make allowances for Manawatu or some areas a bit light sometimes but in the North, one day a week is sufficient, seems to be at the other end of the country.
  4. Only 5 races at Cambridge tomorrow, seems it would make more sense only one Northern meeting per week at present, with maybe 12 races, add to that if you bulk up field sizes you might get genuine winners instead of some winning by default, while as one poster says lots of happy owners but this can't be in the best interest of HRNZ.
  5. Now TAB man, we've already established the fact that crowds at Alexandra Park and Ellerslie are generally pathetic for the size of the place which is probably due to the fact that no one in Auckland basically gives a shit about horse racing but how does Auckland now produce less representatives in the ABs than the backwater place called Tasman, that part of the country NZTR have forgot that exist they have 4 and Auckland only have 3, but based on efforts in the NPC in recent times the gap should be greater, seems Aucklands becoming further out of touch with the rest of NZ, think many living there are too. Still haven't found anyone about with six fingers but we live in hope even though it seems there is not much hope for you.
  6. With only 8 races today at Riccarton, why not one maiden to make 9, not that many grass track opportunities around Christchurch at present.
  7. I guess hanging around Addington on a cold Sunday is more appealing than driving home from Richmond, in the dark, I think if Nelson want a couple more dates, and it seems they do then maybe some other time when it's warmer, probably the Addington Friday Sunday is the way to go.
  8. Nice sunny day I believe but will the sun dissappear behind the hill before the last race?
  9. Galah, I raised my eyes regarding your comment about the Public at Oamaru on Sunday sitting around twiddling their thumbs between races, you must assume there will be anyone from the public, no guarantee of that.
  10. Don't think 25 minute intervals will drag any more public in but 40 minutes gap will drive anyone away. Television rules, happens in many sport, but 40 mins, day must drag for all.
  11. Those on course only meetings were well attended, then the TAB came along and took away incentives to be on course, just like NPC rugby games had big crowds before TV, maybe the lesson is that TABs and TVs done more harm than good in some circumstances.
  12. Rating 62 won comfortably.
  13. 2 rating plus 60s racing rating 51s in the last as Ascot Park, not really like for like racing, how does one address those issues?
  14. Heavy rain warning for North Otago today.
  15. 38 kms, is that for KFC ?
  16. TAB thinks I live in a cave but he also thinks people who live in the South marry their sisters and lots have 6 fingers, seems a bit unhinged but it takes all sorts, I don't think he can comprehend that there is life outside of Auckland lol. He often tells us to get with the programme, but we would like to know what the programme is.
  17. $30000 3yo race at Addington, 5 noms, just had a same stake race last week at Ashburton. All other races around 15 to 18, the continued obsession with 2 and 3yo racing is mystifying.
  18. Next month, if at all.
  19. I said about quality over quality, an example, 2 nights in the North, 14 races, 3 at least at Cambridge with only 6, would make sense to only have 1 night, probably 11 or 12 races, it is winter at present, maybe go back to 2 meetings a week once the weather heats up and numbers improve trainers only need to travel one day, tv crew only one day,,no one would be worse off. Same in Rugby, quantity over quality, Super Rugby starts in summer, they get to the playoffs and it's played at the coldest time of the year, 16 rounds, if you only had 10 or even 12 rounds you will still get the same result, Rugby is leaking money too, mostly through bloated squads on the payroll plus all the hangers on, why the All Blacks need nearly 40 when touring , mind boggling.
  20. Well they have lifted total turnover, it took a extra 30 9or 40 racedays to do it but turnovers is up😊
  21. And if turnovers stay same, what then,? I suspect they will, they are clutching at straws. As for sports it will be fine, for some weird idea if you want to bet on sport live on a aussie site you have to ring by phone, who would do that?
  22. I guess if Timaru don't go on Sunday then there is Oamaru next week, I think it's a urban myth about Oamaru and Timaru being better winter tracks, winter is winter, it can be hit or miss, Oamaru generally has a dry climate but seems when the gallops are on it invites rain.
  23. Then stop worrying 🤐 I often wonder about some of the decisions leaders in many sporting codes make sometimes, it's sometimes easier on the outside looking in, Harness racing is making some odd ones, but some of the decisions made by Rugby administration is no better, not just in NZ but worldwide, playing 3 v 4 last when it should be the other way around in the Super playoffs is just one example, Rugby just seem to want more and more, just like Harness in NZ, sometimes quality beats quantity, sometimes I think they fail to understand why people don't maintain interest all the time, you can get too much of anything.
  24. Gee it will be getting down to the 6 horse 2 year old race levels.
  25. Well many think that the cup stake is too high, problem solved😁
