  1. TAB always goes on about getting with the programe, one just wonder what that consist of, maybe he could enlighten us, if he thinks closing down tracks is the way forward, I reckon come time to review nothing will change in the South Island but he can give us his thoughts. Bit chilly in the cave today😀
  2. Do you not think Entain are any different, more racing, more sports option, more gambling, great incentives to join up.
  3. Probably not, this will result in less casinos for NZederrs to wager on, most likely those who play casinos probably not interested in racing anyhow.
  4. There was one yesterday that ran wide in the straight all of a sudden but still won, me thinks it was just showing off.
  5. Maybe a Tuesday in July😁
  6. But if 200000 leave Auckland that still leaves a lot still there, they probably enjoy it with less traffic, the question still remains do the general public in Auckland like horse racing, you say the blues get average crowds, true as it is mostly but they still fill Eden Park for test or the Super finals, what would a average Saturday crowd be at Ellerslie ? Or Alexandra Park on a good night.
  7. Some of those All Black's probably do tounge each other.😆
  8. You are aware there was a world pool operating on some races?
  9. Irrespective of what TAB says regarding my comments Ellerslie couldn't do any more to promote the meeting and the fields were excellent, but reality 10000 while still a good crowd, if it was, is still in the context of the population of Auckland rather modest and puts into perspective where horse racing fits in the community, a bit hard to get a line on the turnover with the world pool but the Derby was way more supported than the slot race.
  10. They were talking that for Wingatui last week, does anyone know what the figure was ?
  11. Personally I think they could have had the maoris doing there thing today, then no one would have to put up with that kind of horse shit😁
  12. Today's biggest race stakewise had the poorest turnover at Invers today 7 first starters, nice work for the connections though.
  13. You not there? By the way the author was talking up the day I was thinking maybe Russia and Ukraine may have ceased hostilities for the day.
  14. Old TAB is going to hate me but Westports tote turnover was far superior to Alexandra Park last night, and yes I am aware punters migrate to fixed odds to try get a better dea and its unfortunate we dont know the fixed figures, I don't understand why he keeps talking Auckland up, im not a fan of the place, just pointing that out, takes all sorts I guess, while Champions day has the most stakes ever, and Auckland looks like a handy crowd today there but Addington on Cup Day for me is still number 1 day for Horse racing in NZ and that's what happens when you have tradition.
  15. Buddy Reign, second yesterday.
  16. Think TAB should get a job promoting Auckland but today we will see where racing fits into the social fabric.
  17. Irrespective of the post, the punctuation says enough and often punctuality is a indication of one's intelligence, that is a weird post all the same.
  18. With less replacements they will just run more 5 or 6 horse fields, they've been trialing this new idea for ta few years at Alexandra Park, and it's been such a success they have decided to bump up the stakes despite turnovers being modest, so it's all in good hands😀
  19. Tab will payout in full for deadheat, on fixed, , if placings are changed after a inquiry you get payed, if your horse is disqualified you lose.
  20. You talk about betting career, hopefully you had another career as well just in case things didn't go as planned, as can happen from time to time to one or two of us.🙂
  21. I was actually hoping Aussie win the Cricket to send India packing, they have too much clout now, the fact that the Champions trophy is being played in our traditional time slot for home matches to accommodate the IPL in April is just one example, playing the final of a tournament in Pakistan in another country is just a rort, later this month we have Pakistan again here for 5 t20s and some one dayers which kind of lead into nothing, would have been nice to have test matches instead but maybe a wee bit earlier. As for the races this is the litmus test for Auckland racing, yes a good day of racing but will the public turnup, Addington Cup Day has been a tradition, Auckland have shifted races around all over the place for sometime now and actually moved some of their traditional races off traditional dates, up till now with mixed success, sometimes tradition stands for a lot, don't matter if it's Riverton at Easter, Kumara at new year or whatever, the fact it's the same formula year after year mean it's working fine.
  22. True but many of our recent arrivals from India and the likes would mostly be uninterested in many of some kuwi traditions, there is a reason why many are into Cricket but not Rugby, question still remains are they into horse racing ?
  23. With all the hype over Champions day will the crowd back up all the hype, surely they can match Addingtons 15000 or so for Cup Day. Our old friend here TAB Forever keeps lavishing praise about how wonderful Auckland is here's the chance for Aucklanders to put into perspective where horse racing fits into the Auckland psychology. For a place that size its crowds mostly are poor, but as many there are migrants most likely just not interested unlike the rest of NZ.
