Harness racing certainly is,,$150000 stakes for 13 2yos today, get it while you can.

Question is do TAB make profit off fixed odds? They do off the tote. One would suspect many of the exotics are mainly tote still, some are tote only,I believe, interestingly 2 races at Ascot Park lakte in the day did get over 10 and 12000 in tote win pools, don't see that often.

I ain't been on Betfair for ages but there are some very large head to heads pools in Tennis and other sports, the big punters turnup there, no restrictions as Betfair take their commission. Close them down will definitely disappoint some, thinking they will get that money at TABNZ is daydreaming.
-
Ascot Park paying same stakes as Riverton gallops last Saturday (they are adjusted for smaller fields)yet probably producing turnover only 15% at best, Addington supposedly had a few Xtra on course before Warriers game , bet figures didn't look much better, Auckland apart from one or two races very modest too, how long can they keep spending way more than they are earning ?
-
Isnt the 3yo Derby for the best 3yos ? So why does Auckland run the Oaks and Derby same day Addington have done it too but would it make more sense, different days and having the best 3yos in the Derby? Have the Oaks some other time, included in a fillies and mares feature day, can't be that different.

Through May there is very little for Canterburys lower graders on grass tracks, week after next there are 2 days in Southland, the week after that is just one AWT day, no reason why they couldn't race at Blenhiem , 2 days, I'm all for them getting their dates back. Will be interesting next week with day 1 of the AWT at Riccarton, might get more interest if the money's up, the lure of money entices all of us.

Riverton on Saturday broke their turnover record, 2.13 million 1.5 million on Monday, probably the biggest day for Southland, the New Years day meetings is popular too, if they get the right weather that's a big plus too, strangely the Messara report had initially earmarked Riverton and Gore for closure, and everything move to Ascot Park with its 200m home straight, , I guess it's easy to make ideas that don't have any impact on yourself, strangely about 25 years ago a major study into Southland racing recommended most if not all gallops race at Winton,, slightly drier climate yet strangely Winton was the one they called time, on seems weird as they still run jumpouts and 18 harness meetings each season, it's not like the tracks are closing. Easy to condemn or criticize our tracks as opposed to aussie, but they do have a generally warmer climate, that makes a difference, simple reality is you can't beat the shit out of them all the time, closing tracks and hammering those left has proven some of Messaras ideas ain't worth a pinch of shit.

TAB ain't been back, must be piils time and lights out at the rest home.
-
Well with some of the comments he makes, it then brings into question if anything he says is valid, we are all weird in our own wee ways but this prick seems weird in every way.

Deluded is putting it mildly, some of the shite is unreal. Ellersle always looks empty on raceday so new track Fine as it is only thing it attracts is owners and trainers, trying to invent big days like champions day but running a poor second to Christchurch, which beats anything Auckland does hands down. Many of the small country clubs will survive if the community want them, Riverton is just one of a good few I think are doing a good job, you can't tell me Masteton or Central Otago would rank ahead, they don't even race on their own courses anymore, makes the so called awards look like a crok of shit.
-
Yet TAB man reckons everything Auckland is just so wonderful, Ellerslie for all their efforts fell way short of matching Cup Day at Addington, probably Riccarton too, most in Auckland don't care,, it's just a strange place, but then there is traffic to contend with, another factor why people don't go.

Maybe set up a give a little page😁

Tuesday- 2 low class meetings competing against each other?

Does Hayden not train these days? -
HRNZ must be hot favourites. They get my vote.
-
Maybe the reason they have invented these awards is to give Auckland something to boast about, how many metro courses are there in NZ ? You can't tell me that Masterton are doing more than cubs such as Riverton, they are just one example, not quite so sure about the better weather lol but as many clubs farm these places, they are probably more sustainable moving forward than the likes of Alexandra Park who's module is doomed.
-
Better weather for a start, what a shithole Auckland is with all this rain the beaches are probably loaded with shit, sometimes shit attracts more shit, mabe thats why you like it there, now fuck off with ya deluded Auckland shit. Only a matter of time harness racing dies there too. What a joke of a place, the big city that would be if it could be but will never be anything other than a dumping off place for many coming from a even bigger shithole to create one here, it's happening, what a fuckwit you are cunt, probably the best thing ever to keave the south, don't reply again, no hope for ya.

How Riverton don't get a nomination at the least for Country Club is beyond me, just my thoughts.

No spikes in turnover at Alexandra Park, must be the poorest pools of any harness meeting I've seen in a long time, maybe the weather?......maybe the day it's on with several other events on, Warriers, Rugby on TV, Auckland FC on TV, some very average fields betting wise, probably were unfortunate to get washed out on Thursday, only thing I can say I observe is that some of the exotic pools are probably a wee bit better as opposed to win and place where you get no value on some races. Addington turnover were average run of the mill too, but at least average is OK, Auckland were very much below. -
Easter next year is about April 9, I think so when will the slots race be before or after ?
-
Interestingly today with trackside 1 being simulcast on radio, Addington miss out, be the same on Boxing Day for Westport, and any other day where harness gets demoted to Trackside 2, they do have a streaming of races on app but it just chops anx changes from 1 and 2, it's not a good listen.
-
Invercargill next week has $50000 2yo trotters and a $100000 2yo race scheduled for next week, might get a dozen starters between races,if lucky and most likely most from if not all from Canterbury, then the 3yos final both for 60000, and the Country Cups for aged horses for 40000, once again another imbalance of funds for stakes, just goes on and on.
-
In today's world they would abandon the race but should they, but I think the show goes on, that's Racing, things happen.
-
When I was working outdoors I was always listening to radio while working, if it wasn't trackside, it was probably cricket or rugby or ZB while out and about so I realize how handy and informative it is, I do think Sports Nation, owned by the TAB can do significantly better in it's on radio Racing coverage, even simulcasting off TV is fine, it's not everyone that can be sitting on their arsehole in front of TV, by being freely available(radio) it continually stays in your mindset, plenty of people have busy jobs, not all day to play on smartphone but staying informed is important as one poster above stated, once you lose your audience, hard to get it back.
-
It would actually be interesting to know what the TV viewership is for racing, broken down to how many stream from the website, numbers watching through Sky and then since it's back on freeview. The TAB/Enatain now own the Sports Nation frequencies, they do broadcast the Big Saturday on the radio and they do stream trackside radio on the app as well, no reason why they couldn't have more trackside on radio, better than having the endless run of reruns, it would be interesting to know what the listening numbers are for Sports Nation, more than likely small but at least they are catering to sports and racing fans, no one else is. Radio still has its place.
