    Go the Warriors

    Might be next year
  2. Yes but it's unfortunate she's not
  3. Incidentally another Synthetic meeting on Dec 6.
  4. Am I correct that Ashburton have gained 2 more days, Timaru have 1 and Ruakaka has lost a couple which they may have gained when Ellerslie was out of commission, strangely Timaru was scheduled for Oct 6 , has been moved two days ahead and switched with Southland so it's the same as last season but strangely was on same day originally as Methven trots which makes wonder if their is any communication between clubs when allocating days.
  5. There are a lot of things since this new lot have come to town that have been interesting/mystifying, jamming up Sundays, Tuesdays weekly at Cambridge, 2 Friday night meetings, most Southern meetings on Thursdays no place odds on TV, buying the radio frequencies yet we have seen nothing change, I understand though that apparently there was to be no programme change for a year, why I don't know, the reality is though if you don't change things or try then nothing changes. I came on to this site about the time of covid and we all had comments about the state of things regarding racing, I just hope that in 4 years time we ain't having similar discussions, maybe we will, maybe not but at least trying something different is better than nothing although I am perplexed by some of their ideas only time will tell. I won't lose sleep over it either way, been around long enough to stop giving a shit, racing for me is a casual interest, fortunately I don't make my living out of it, if I did I would be anxious though as it seems to be in decline, many who do make their living probably don't know much else but be best to make hay while the sun shines.
  6. Cambridge should be the Norths main or only venue, firstly they go the right way around, secondly the cost of operating in a more rural setting is cost are less, thirdly for the poor basterds that have to drive through peak traffic every Friday for Auckland would get tedious , Fourthly no one in Auckland gives a shit, the number of people who live there who go to Alexndra Park is miniscule so instead of propping that place up better to rationalise and move on from it. 5 years time HRNZ and Entain may still be pouring money down this endless pit, and things more than likely will still be the same.
  7. Forburys money should stay in the South.
  8. Seems to me that 6 and 7 race meetings with small fields,(mini meetings)are becoming the norm, I suspect things will pick up in the South later, not sure about Cambridge and with meetings weekly there what affect that has on Manawatu remains to be seen. You wonder sometimes if it's viable for trackside to cover these meetings, cost the same as for ten races but I guess one positive if you have a horse racing yoh have a good chance of getting some good money, be wise to make hay while the sun shines. Mini meetings may have their place, not sure though if they would want to be the norm though.
  9. Only 59 moms for Gore Thursday, might be topical to focus on Cambridge/Auckland but things ain't much better in the South.
  10. I think their mobile site is very poor, the desktop version is OK, that subject to it still going.
  11. Seems like a load of shit to me😀
  12. You do wonder if just like newhubs demise and TVNZs struggles in the media if this genre of media as in trackside is sustainable in the new form in the long term, plus as we know Entain have also got the radio frequencys too, which actually seem to have less live content than ever, I often check the broadcast guide, just more and more reruns.
  13. The will pays are displayed now but not on phone (android app) but fine on phone on website only, also fine on tablet seems to be fine, funny things happen on these sites. As for desktop, haven't tried.
  14. Winton on Thursday, be interesting to see how this one stacks up, numbers wise for this one too. Cambridge next week after.
  15. Club Rugby in Dunedin as in other places has decayed a lot, some clubs like Green Island have been in the wilderness for years, Zingari as well. Further South I see they claim to have a strong Stags team for the NPC , usually they do look good on paper but if you think 46 years is a long time be a lot longer before Southland achieve such heights, throw in the Warriers as well.
  16. Hey TAB totally separate issue but i note Green Island win Dunedin Club Rugby final, first time in 46 years.
  17. Maybe they could shift Saturdays to Sundays , move the two abandoned to Saturday, shift Oamaru to October sometime. If j was Oamaru I'd move just get rid of unwanted invaders of my day.
  18. Addington, Oamaru, Pukekohe and the dogs racing somewhere, 4 meetings on a Sunday, a taste of things to come, probably all on trackside 1 as well, so it will probably be congested, I imagine there will be some long spaces between races sometimes, strange times. Just as it was last month looks like Oamaru have the easterly with rain again producing a heavy track again. You would hope the Northern riders would go to Oamaru, they ain't the ones who fucked things up.
  19. Do you not think perhaps the gap between January 2 and 6 might deter some from further afield, With Kapati racing Same day as Marlborough on 19th that more than likely would reduce South Islanders too, maybe to zero, a wee bit odd, time will tell, it's all going to be very interesting how the new calendar works out. I think I stated once Southland had 2 days less but I think they have just juggled things around a bit more, hard to keep up sometimes.
  20. Hey for some reason I couldn't delete your name so I just left it there so no I'm not bullying you.
  21. Probably the weeds as well.
  22. Well i hear the guy from TAB yesty on morning show saying they are aware the will pays are missing from new website, quinellas only and they are looking into it, it don't mean it will get fixed but they are aware of it.
  23. And yet with today's rating system I'd say a lot not trying too hard on many occasions.
  24. Ross Payne trained on the Taieri I think as a private trainer for some period of time, some guy set up a complex, what ever became of it is anyone's guess, there was a Smolenski on the Taeiri for a while too. Forbury used to be a significant event in Dunedin, Cup class races in October, Festival meeting and some big meetings in April. Then the Cup class horses stopped going, the Festival meeting ended up one night, latterly in February, then they started shifting to Thursdays, then the winter meetings, maybe more and more racedays but lesser quality saw interest decline, interesting on their final night they got a good crowd turn up, maybe had they not taken things for granted and turned a bit more then it might still be racing. Getting back to overkill maybe those same decisions flooding the Northern region with more and more meetings might have them backtracking after a time, more and more isn't necessarily better.
