Looks like no interest at all.

That 2yo fillies races is a group 3, there is only 6 and its restricted to one gender, that's weird. Looks like they are giving out awards for mediocrity.
-
Think you find that numbers are better as it will be eleven days since Winton, it's only a few days but it does make a difference, next meeting after Monday is ten days as well.

Very easy to become a gambling addict online, everything's so easily accessible while sitting at home, many gambling sites exploit that fact too, I could contradict myself though by saying is it a gambling addiction as such or a internet one? I've played the online casino, bet365 firstly then some other sites, very addictive the flashing light, spinning wheels , card games etc etc can suck you in, don't play them now, only lotto weekly and some scratches. Today my TAB account is being reopened, had a break for 2 months, I purely got sick of it so one day just put the account on hold, haven't really missed it, you can survive without it, Entain won't survive long though without it, gambling can be a nasty habit sometimes, I don't think that many of the racemeetings they cover are necessary, hence the headline 47 meetings today, if you start punting on races from places you ain't heard of that's sad.

It's Brosnan, not Brossnon, correct spelling is important🫣 I only take pride in spelling after reading many comments on Facebook lol.

Noodlum in 74, Olga Korbut 75. A filly beat a field of 15, 15 running on Sunday but 2 races, if a filly is good enough it's good enough.

First Sapling stakes I remember was Castle Derg, Richard Brossnan

The only problem many gamblers have is they don't win more than they spend. They only problem many gambling sites have is the people who do win more than they spend.

And out of curiosity do fillies and mares recieve the same penalty for winning a all in race. And for that matter should Southern horses recieve same penalty for winning races restricted to south of the Waitaki trained runners.

15 2yos racing for a hundred grand, that will be adjusted with small fields, at Ashburton on Sunday, Gamma can say that there will be plenty of winners going home with cheque's but small fields produce small turnovers, once again the obsession of pumping up stakes for poor fields seems weird, it's a bit like a business paying it's apprentices more than the senior workers, yes you need 2yo racing and yes you need some features too but it seems a more than regular event now. Brodie anyone here can only voice their opinion about matters, question is would anyone or does anyone in places that can make a difference ever notice them? The only satisfaction one can get sometimes is when or if the shit hits the fan one can only say one was right. So many decisions made by people on the inside but sometimes not seeing what those on the outside can see, it's happening in many things from sport to politics, things change all the time, I'm just not sure if things are changing for the better.

No one mentioned only 4 races today, I hope that's not because no one even knew they were on , that would be a worrying sign for racing in NZ.

I think harness racing, maybe the gallops as well may be living beyond their means, they have been paying stakes that based on the income( turnover) has been out of synch, so I guess they will take the cash at present with open arms, in the event of stakes being slashed in future they will be the first to grizzle, but it will certainly be a test of whether they like their horses or whether just their to create jobs, livelihood etc etc. Just like the greyhounds, will all these guys with their 50 60 or 70 dogs like their dogs when they start costing money to keep when not earning, it's all about self preservation. I've often thought that there has been a certain sector of the galloping hierarchy, some of those flash Harry's in the North who are backing Winston into parliament for their own means, so far they got 30 mill for a couple of AWTs, yes they ain't in the North but they are still galloping tracks and now greasing up to Winston wanting the TAB control of the betting, remembering they are wanting their hands on the cash Entain are bribing them to get the legislation through, it's all about self preservation, irrespective some times if it's ethical or not. As for the Southern Surge, another example of putting more money in stakes without lifting income, making hay while the sun shines.

One wonders if the codes are always in sync, last year they had Methven and Washdyke both scheduled on a Sunday in Spring, then they switched Timaru with Southland for the Friday, what are the odds of a repeat? I don't really believe the gallops should have 2 on a Sunday, should be 1, CD and South Island meetings only or 2 if only one harness.
-
So what are you restricted from, is it a certain amount, certain types of bets, I understand the 2k minimum scenario now for fixed win bets always had me confused, do they have minimums they have to let you on for place bets, I'm talking about anyone,
-
I didn't see the Friday ones but yesterday the gallops ones were mostly losers, Harness racing is probably treated differently, you could say too easy in some races, hence the restrictions for some, personally the simplest way to prosper would be backing top3 top4 place bets, they know that, that's why they don't promote place betting.
-
I struggle to see the point of big bets alerts, only time bets are interesting is if someone winning a big multi or maybe a massive plunge on the ABs or the like winning a major competition, everyone's betting levels is their own affair, not really anybody else's.
-
So effectively some of those bets today where someone's trying to win 5 or 6 grand are accepted at the TABs discretion, crazy thing is most of the bets lost so who are the winners?
-
Awatere in the last at Te Rapa, 3000 at 3 90, logic would tell me as insurance you would stack more on for top 3 or 4, horse ran second I think. Strangely Awatere started at 4 50
-
I'm just watching trackside, I do sometimes and they are flashing up big bet alert, some trying to win 5 or 6 grand yet I though 2 grand was your limit, on a fixed win bet. Most of them are losers so who is winning at this game?
-
I think some guy Langford was going to be doing something in regards to Mr Searles Facebook page or set up, I stand to be corrected.
-
More than likely most of us don't bother but someone might complain if they got rid of them, but Entain just keep pushing more and more, got to get every cent they can. Myself personally I don't watch a lot of trackside, does my head after a while, overnight, sports betting is probably where it's at, European Soccer and Tennis. You talk about restrictions on punters but I'm sure there must be some large punters on head to heads in many sports, maybe they have some elite punters but just don't disclose their spending levels. But yes betting on many of these races and some of the sports tends to suggest some have issues.

Some very modest figures for Cambridge, no different than Tuesdays, Winton had some lean pools too, later in the day not as bad, I just don't believe many have money or maybe many just not shit hot interested in many of harness meetings but Harness Racing want more of the same, I guess though if you have more meetings that will bang total turnover up, nothing else will. Just like Rugby I think there is over supply, we can only consume so much.
-
But in many ways this is just another of the many odd decisions HRNZ keep making, more isn't better.

Question is with Waipukurau is if Hastings returns does Waipukurau get the heave ho again? Having said that it still comes down to whether the locals patronize it but racing needs to have a presence, and same for my other hobby horse, Blenhiem, it's proven if you get the right days you can get the public support, Kaikoura harness on anniversary proves that, can't be that difficult, surely, harness takes racing to the people, gallops seem to be taking it away.

Nelson's request for 2 days in June turned back due to Friday night lights needing preserving, surely they can make the odd exception, ? Nelson also seeked Timaru not race before them in January, turned down but then one wonders why numbers light but Nelson might be smarter to get rid of mile racing on day 2, Auckland and Cambridge getting more races, Auckland running at Ruakaka, Easter Monday, many of the Southern days to Sunday, where possible, Waimate move to Washdyke same day as Tuepeka, Labour Weekend, will it be grass track? Manawatu weirdly race day before Cup but then nought for a month looks like 3 single days and 7 2 days. Hawera race twice mid January just after Kapiti, one day only, but running when they do rules ouf South Islanders. In reality not that much has changed, seems Harness Racing seem obsessed with more and more of the same old stuff.
