  1. Hey TAB totally separate issue but i note Green Island win Dunedin Club Rugby final, first time in 46 years.
  2. Maybe they could shift Saturdays to Sundays , move the two abandoned to Saturday, shift Oamaru to October sometime. If j was Oamaru I'd move just get rid of unwanted invaders of my day.
  3. Addington, Oamaru, Pukekohe and the dogs racing somewhere, 4 meetings on a Sunday, a taste of things to come, probably all on trackside 1 as well, so it will probably be congested, I imagine there will be some long spaces between races sometimes, strange times. Just as it was last month looks like Oamaru have the easterly with rain again producing a heavy track again. You would hope the Northern riders would go to Oamaru, they ain't the ones who fucked things up.
  4. Do you not think perhaps the gap between January 2 and 6 might deter some from further afield, With Kapati racing Same day as Marlborough on 19th that more than likely would reduce South Islanders too, maybe to zero, a wee bit odd, time will tell, it's all going to be very interesting how the new calendar works out. I think I stated once Southland had 2 days less but I think they have just juggled things around a bit more, hard to keep up sometimes.
  5. Hey for some reason I couldn't delete your name so I just left it there so no I'm not bullying you.
  6. Probably the weeds as well.
  7. Well i hear the guy from TAB yesty on morning show saying they are aware the will pays are missing from new website, quinellas only and they are looking into it, it don't mean it will get fixed but they are aware of it.
  8. And yet with today's rating system I'd say a lot not trying too hard on many occasions.
  9. Ross Payne trained on the Taieri I think as a private trainer for some period of time, some guy set up a complex, what ever became of it is anyone's guess, there was a Smolenski on the Taeiri for a while too. Forbury used to be a significant event in Dunedin, Cup class races in October, Festival meeting and some big meetings in April. Then the Cup class horses stopped going, the Festival meeting ended up one night, latterly in February, then they started shifting to Thursdays, then the winter meetings, maybe more and more racedays but lesser quality saw interest decline, interesting on their final night they got a good crowd turn up, maybe had they not taken things for granted and turned a bit more then it might still be racing. Getting back to overkill maybe those same decisions flooding the Northern region with more and more meetings might have them backtracking after a time, more and more isn't necessarily better.
  10. Think you will find Green Island Rugby Team are probably all blacks now Speaking of places and horse trainers, how many still left in the Seddon Shield area, can't be many left either.
  11. Strange as it was the braces on the driver's colours that got me thinking, I'm pretty sure Campbell's colours were cerise and something, maybe brown braces, I think Campbells had a hardware shop in South Dunedin, I stand to be corrected though, if he was one of that tribe. As for the horse, can't remember, easy I guess to Google but by googling everything we have lost the ability to think, we have heard of a thing called artificial intelligence, and that's what using a computer for everything is, we have been duped by technology.
  12. He still has one racing out of Williamsons stable.
  13. Wasn't there a guy Campbell who trained out of Forbury for a while? Maybe that's him in the photo, I'm trying to rack my brain as to who that is.
  14. Use to be a guy Ashton who apparently lived at Portobello, seems to have gone, he used to clock up some miles, actually don't think any trainers in Dunedin but still one or two in surrounding area, Graeme Andersons name crops up at Wyndham workouts often.seems a wee way to go from Brighton, but it is what it is. You would imagine a few owned by people in Dunedin, trained elsewhere.
  15. At present Ellerslie struggle to run one day, and any track in NZ has ample free parking., not because of trains dropping people off, simply as no one goes anymore.
  16. I would be keen to knowt what HRNZ are doing with the funds from the sale of Forbury, hopefully they ain't going to squander it lifting Auckland out of the hole it's created, it just seemed last weeks announcements didn't seem to include the south in any way. Anyway going to watch second half of Euro semi, not sure who I want to win, Netherlands knock out England or Spain, kick England's arse in final.
  17. While Entain claim viewers on Saturday afternoons it would be interesting to know how many people actually watch or on Fridag nights, Sundays etc etc. I personally don't know many who watch horse racing, Seems to me based on reports of viewing numbers for sports going free to air numbers bump up plenty as opposed to being behind a pay wall. As for trackside it is weird they don't have place odds or results either, for most those 2 things go hand in hand.
  18. I also wonder what Entains vision is for the radio frequency they bought back, maybe simulcasting Friday nights on radio could be a goer, I've noticed recently they have a lot less commentary of sport these days, I think they are still tied up with SENZ for a period of time, what makes things hard for SENZ in Australia is that they compete with the ABC who also broadcast NRL, Cricket and AFL, Senz also have content from the UK from talksport who are rivals of the BBC, they both compete with live commentary of sport. I've always said there is room for a proper sports station in NZ, despite most media having great struggles these days, would be very interesting to know how many tune in to sports radio, or for that matter watch Trackside, I would say for both radio and TV the numbers might not be massive but would think they would be hard-core supporters. Everything Entain does all comes down to income as in turnover, time will tell where all this ends up.
  19. Interestingly, Greg O'Connor left Trackside as he didn't want to be in the studio, now he has a job in the studio. On a completely different note, as it seems very little in today's news for the south one would hope HRNZ don't shuffle money from Forbury Park to fund other areas.
  20. Looks like nothing positive for South of the Waitaki, I note in the calandar 2 days seemed to have disappeared from the calandar as well from the original, mostly Thursdays, some Sundays in Summer and Saturdays in March, oh well we will see if it's a positive or a negative..
  21. I thought the Jason Teaz type programme was a good idea, I think you need 2 meetings to make it work but the quality of the racing has to be good as well, at present, winter it's just run of the mill, it should get better. At least they are trying something new, will it increase turnover, who knows.
  22. As at July 3 12 15pm still no sign of racing at Otaki duel meeting or Thames, so when will the great announcement be coming?
  23. How would one police that?
  24. 40 minute intervals for some races, that's dragging it out but TV dictates the terms. Not many runners but good pickings for those prepared to keep going, with 7 races this could almost be classed a mini meeting, sometimes these might be just the thing needed to keep some continuity, there are a few situations where there are no southern races for almost 3 weeks through the season, that's quite a gap. I note a comment from Kelvin Tyler about Oamaru racing 2 days before Riccarton as being dumb, next year Oamaru moves forward to Sunday, maybe the powers that be got the idea off here or maybe not.
  25. So will geo blocking make it impossible to play online? I think the idea is to ban all gambling on overseas sites, only Lotto and TAB.
