I for one would stop racing horses in nz and all would go to Aus. I think the planes would be flying overtime transferring horses across the ditch. They may not be good enough for Grp Oz, but city class would become the target for many NZ horses i would think.

And so it continues....Wairarapa fields out, only 6 races and 1 race has 6 horse and another has 7......do we even need racing on the 2nd Jan after a action packed 1 Jan across the country? This race meeting should have been pulled with these fields, more Industry money going up in smoke. -
Yes agree Huey, we still need the base.....was just pointing out to Reefton we still need these big feature days also. Reefton seems to dislike these big feature days, which we still need also.

Reefton, you just cant accept the industry needs big feature days to survive. Yes they may not pay their way (but i guess that’s what sports betting profit helps with) but without them what do we have.

I really cant understand why we have listed and group 2yr old races before Xmas.....utter waste of money. We even have a black type 2yr old race before Australia do, go figure. Why do we keep rolling out the same programme.....to suit a couple of stables and that’s about it maybe

He always comes out with that line a few weeks before the sales.......has a vested interest in selling horses.

Just Joking........I would assume the $4.6mil for the land sale to that Hutt School that was due for payment in 2023 would repay those loans if my memory is correct?

Option 1 - BNZ for sale mortgagee sign gets banged into Trenthem turf Option 2 - NZTR sells Trentham to pay their guarantee obligations (in favour of Race inc) to bnz if called upon Option 3....?

Chief..... a comment i spotted in a report on the Riccarton track is below....you will have a wee giggle. “The proposed synthetic track also has a number of operational advantages, when compared to the existing grass track that is being replaced, in respect of superior drainage, reduced water use because irrigation is not required and reduced maintenance requirements”

Interesting numbers re Aus. I dont know much about Aus turnover, but my first though is those numbers are based on a tier system alreday beaded down. In NZ we dont exactly have a current well thought through tier system, its basicaly dart board driven. With the proposed tier system in the messara report, if that gets implemented, do you see us then mirroring the current Aus trend in turnover numbers?

WESTLAND - 1 race day = $738k turnover ELLERSILE - 16 race days = $2,697,372 average turnover per race meeting

Maybe I’m not a normal punter.....but i would prefer to bet on premier and higher tiered racing (better horse quality) v ave industry day (often 7 horse field in the mud)

Your not comparing apples with apples Mardigras. Same race meeting (different location to Westland) with same stakes - Turnover impact?

You still have those knickers off Joe......when have i been spending the money.....Go back and look at my thoughts on AWT a few posts back to Chief. You were crying about lack of lighting.....lighting is coming.......now your crying about god knows what else. You better add a few more 00’s on the end to the AWT budget to achieve what you have dreamed up that money would be better used for.
