Years ago The qualifying trials used to have good size bumbers in the fields, nowadays often there are only 2 or 3 in a field,sign of the times unfortunately! Will be interesting to see what the new stake money is going to be in the new season

Just looked through the exported Horses list on HRNZ, and there was approx. 50 horses exported mainly to Oz last month. This seems like a lot of horse i. One month but maybe it is fairly typical? Obviously owners do not see the point of racing horses here nowadays for $8k? Something has to be done to increase turnover so that stakes can be increased and worthwhile for owners! Suggestion would be for the NZ TAB to encourage more wagering, or is that too radical?

Another nail in the coffin for North Island racing! Josh Dickie is a talented horseman and clearly a big loss for the N.I. Think there will be other young ones that will follow him over and with some of the elder trainers giving it away, it is very very hard to see how harness racing in Auckland being viable in the next few years!!!

Ranga, needs to be opened! Races need to be run truly, running quarters slowly without anyone moving is farcical.

Totally agree Davis. Whatever but on Addington they shouldn’t be allowed to run 34 quarters over any distance

Over recent months there have been many races run at Addington where there are quarters being run in pedestrian times!!!! When you invest on races you are wagering that the race js going to be run at a reasonable speed for the class of horses involved! When you have quarters being run in over 33 seconds and halves in over 65 secs it changes the whole dynamics of the race and you might as well throw the form book out the window!!!! In Oz they fined drivers for going too slow, bot sure whether they still do this Maybe we need to introduce this in NZ as it becomes an absolute farce when they go slow! You could say that it is good driving by the lead driver and parked horse, but absolutely stupid when the horses out the back just sit there and expect to win from so far back with a short sprint home! From a punters point of view, there needs to be more action to make a fair race and to ensure I can get a collect!!!

Harness might get the greyhounds disbursement before the end of the next season. In the paper today there was mention of 9 dogs no longer due to racing on the Wanganui, sorry WHHHHHanganui track! Ammo for our lovely caring Greenie unrealistic Chloe Swarbrick! Not good racing Greyhounds but fine to walk about STONED eh Chloe?

What would that mean for for stakes? Is there going to be just as many races as this season? There needs to be increased stakes as what they are generally makes it very difficult to turn any sort of profit! Going to be interesting!

Yes they are, but it is such a mess over there now! The media is absolutely talking shite and people are so over the BS! They are putting people in managed isolation for absolutely no reason. The fact is that there are 141 people in hospital in NSW! Every single one of them except one has been vaccinated and the one has had one jab of the poison!!! I would be far more worried about the poisonous vaccine that people are allowing to be injected into their bodies for no reason. Have heard today from 3 different people of very serious consequences of this action! Reality is that the no. of owners and trainers is declining in NZ. Reality is that the no. Of new punters on harness is declining. Reality is that the opportunity to have a horse pay its way is declining! Reality is that the TAB is not treating punters equally and that is having a detrimental effect on racing not just punting wise, also owning wise! Reality is that harness needs to address all of these issues or things are going to continue to go south.

Maybe it is because the vulnerable have moved on unfortunately ? What has happened to the China virus and the deadly South African variant?? It is designed to scare you and there will be new variants out shortly so they can continue this BS, Where are the numbers of suicides, business losses, marriage breakups that are far more detrimental than any virus?

I have not got a problem with the TAB restricting everyone to a certain amount to protect themselves. The issue is that they restrict some and others can get on what they want! Even when you do get on, they slash the odds and then you can not get on again at the reduced amount on account! What they are doing is discouraging punters and turnover.
