Of course Ranga. Why do you think the bonus that was just announced is for 3 years? It is when the 5 year Entain guarantee of this funding expires! Would be great to be hearing from Dean Shannon CEO of Entain as to their plans for harness that he will guarantee for NZ. We are hearing nothing from them at all?

The fields are up on the TAB website for tomorrow provided by the Ozzie outfit which appatently has been trusted fir over 20 years lol! The site is useless fir information, it can not even have yesterdays form up which is absolutely USELESS!!! Bring back the old TAB site, but they eont because they do not care about racing punters!
-
They do not care about harness! Sam Ottley gets the 100 wins for the season and they whip over to a pointless gallops race in Oz!
-
TAB, so you think everything is rosie with harness racing at the moment? Are you on the payroll or something along those lines? you need to take off your sunglasses and open your eyes! The biggest promoter of harness racing in NZ as I see it, is not even on the payroll, and yet puts in heaps of hours each and every week of his own time!
-
TAB, great that you post your opinion, and that is what we need, people posting their thoughts! Firstly Galah and myself may well post things that might be seen as being negative but they are always made with good intentions. Posting our opinions is what we need more of and you may think that they are negative when in fact had you thought that they may well be the truth?? Personally speaking and I believe that there have been many very stupid and unsuccessful decisions made by several people that has severely hindered progress for harness racing! Are we not allowed to comment about what is happening in harness racing on a public forum BOAY? Whether harness racing survives dies not ultimately affect myself as I am not reliant on it whatsoever to make a living! I believe that yes they are trying to make things happen and make harness racing once again very popular. Hopefully this will be achieved and it will thrive, but does this new bonus system that Brad Steele has put forward possibly create divisiveness? Anyway time will tell, I believe that they should be prioritising trying to bring in new punters to harness racing as I can guarantee that without new ones coming through, you might as well turn out the lights. Without the profits from the TAB you havent got decent stake money and obviously everything will go downhill. Entain or whoever owns the NZ TAB in 3 years time is not going to be continuing to chuck money at it! Brodie on the money, whether you like it or not?

Galah, great that you express your opinion. Far too many people just do not express their opinion nowadays, and that is the problem a lot of the time with these questionable decisions that are being made currently. Not too sure how long it took Brad Steele to come up with this seemingly complicated system where preference is going to be given to some over others! So if you are 41 years old you are not as wanted as a new owner as someone who is 39? The industry is going through a time where the correct decisions are paramount for NZ to continue to have a harness racing future. Personally not that confident that these bonuses are what the industry needs? What they need without doubt is more punters coming through and without more of them we are in trouble.
-
Brad Steele came from Australia highly qualified apparently? We will have to wait and see if chucking this money around is going to have positive effects in the next few years! Interesting concept from Mr Steele the way he is trying to get under 40s into ownership.

Carter as a Junior is every bit as good as Dexter was at the same age. He is probably going to win the Premiership even though he was away for a long time in the United States. We have several very good Junior drivers at the moment which is great and needed! There does not seem to be many new Juniors coming through though at the moment, to replace the Juniors that become Seniors?

Lol, Gamma all is good! If the powers that be think they are doing the right thing for harness racing in Nz then thst is good! I am just merely pointing out that I have absolutely no faith whatsoever nowadays in decisions being made! Anyway, love this time of year as there is so much racing and always do very nicely. I am going to go for it now while we still have racing. Merry Xmas to all!

First race at Auckland just been run with stake of $100k win pool of under $6k and under $4k place tote. Doesn’t seem too profitable and considering Invercargill tote pools all day are massively more and racing for much smaller stakes, think they have stuffed up again?

What I have lesrn Well written and I would say accurate posting Galah. What I have learnt and surprised over the past few years is just how gullible and naive people in NZ are! If someone in authority says something so many actually believe that it must be gospel. Look where this country is financially at the moment due to decisions made by voters that allowed the most unqualified bunch of lefties in Labour to control NZ for 6 long years. The damage to the country is going to be felt for decades unfortunately. As for Auckland racing, it is in a perilous state and hopefully they can sell Franklin for a good price but I would not be holding my breath. ATC knew there was a chance that the sale was going to fall over and shouldve been working on getting a backup offer on it! The interest on the debt is ticking over at a quick rate and yet they can run these $100k races which is going to lose even more money. I suppose at the end of the day it is only going to cost them a few hundred thousand or a months interest, so doesnt matter! Entain have come in and shelling out money into stakes with gay abandon and are these White Knights apparently? Maybe they buy Franklin and split into housing?
-
Suppose I need to subscribe to the Tipping Line?
-
Anyone with any semblance of business acumen can see that these Auckland meetings are losing money. This meeting financially is going to be horrifically in the shite! It is good to see fields in Auckland where there isn’t 5 starters, but seriously if you think that throwing massive amounts of money into Auckland racing to bail them out is a winner, then personally think you are deluded To run these $100k races over 1700metres just shows how clueless some thst are msking decisions really are! The turnover on this meeting will be interesting but yes, Auckland is being given preferential treatment and it will backfire! Did we ever get what the positive news that came out of the ATC meeting was?

Thats what I mean Spatchcock, far better opportunities for the punter to sort them out. Trying to sort out value on a Friday night amongst multiple race winners is gambling!
-
Correct, the Loose class racing for punting represents far better opportunities without doubt!
-
It appears that Wilson House pulled back and let Sam in?
-
Congratulations Sam Thornley on winning the Australasian Young Drivers Championship in Oz . It is always a well run event they hold and with plenty of races over several different tracks it gives the young drivers plenty of chances. Sam Thornley has done a great job since he started driving several seasons ago and his young namesakes are also very capable horse people. I remember when there were many around castigating young Sam for being over vigorous on a drive at Addington and were calling for him to have his license taken off him! the fact is that the horse he was driving always needed the persuader, it was the male horse with the female name, something Rose! Brodie went into to bat for the young lad on BOAY and he was on the money knowing that the bloke was going to be successful.

Ban WOKEISM and things would be far better for everyone. The fact is that Greyhounds are going to become extinct just for a stupid decision. There has to be more to it than supposed cruelty to greyhounds when there is so msny more important issues than that?
-
Apparently the Pfizer toxin jabs do?
-
If it was so bad and it worked you would think others would be fully masked up as well as there were millions of the stupid covid masks chucked out! Reality is that having your nose covered by something is not what we are designed for and has a detrimentsl effect on our breathing by breathing in all the crap from our mouth and so uncomfortable. Anyway Rory’s business but just looks stupid!
-
He has been doing it for a long time. Just why, as he seems to only be wearing out on the track? Does anyone have the answer as to why?
-
Can anyone tell Brodie why Rory McIlwrick wears a face covering over his whole face up to his eyes? Has he not heard that wearing masks for Covid was a con and no longer needed? I appreciate some females who are Muslim also wear them but Rory dies not qualify for that! Is there any logical reason he wears it in races??

I still maintain that Entain should never have given the contact for the TAB website to Racing and Sports from Australia apparently according to themselves being trusted for over 20 years! The info they provide is just so inferior and inaccurate compared to what we had before Entain took over. Apart from the crap comments etc. you would really expect them to be able to differentiate between a mobile start and a standing start? Race 2 at Addington Friday night says it is a MBL 1980m race and yet the info is saying it is a Stand? Yes it will be a mobile as it is 1980m but how is so much wrong info allowed to get through?

In 20 months no more @Yankiwi....I mean Greyhounds are Banned!
Brodie replied to Chief Stipe's topic in Dog Chat
It is an interesting one whether it is a breach of contract! I would say that if they lost all racing in NZ, they would not be too worried as their costs would be so much less and without the hassle and they would still have the Sports Betting which is what they wanted in the first place! -

QE11 was a grass track and provided a far better spectacle than what the Addington track does. There were injuries when they raced at QE11 but think it was more toes rather than leg issues? I am very surprised that Peters has canned the greyhound racing and it will be forever unless it is overturned before the 20 months is up. There has to be more to it from Winston surely as greyhound racing is not cruelty to the dogs that love to run. Contact sports like rugby and league give participants many injuries and early dementia, so surely this is cruelty to humans, so this should be shut down as well!!
