  1. Do not really care if they mention every horse prior to a race as punters who follow form have already invested! Do punters actually get talked into backing something just becsuseca Trackside presenter says something? Still maintain that they are not that professional with some of their decisions they have brought in! The removal of place dividends on screen and the very very poor website coming from Sport and Racing Trusted for 20+ years is detrimental to attracting wagering eithout doubt! The monkeys that do the comments are just drongoes seriously!
  2. Lol You have changed its name Galah! TAB is clearly pretty close to Mr Clark or his specialty subject is “Race winners trained by Alan Clark”. To be fair all things considered, Alan Clark did a very good job considering he didnt even have a track of his own to work on. He is clearly an enthusiast who loved the game by starting his horses so many times and regularly at the trials. We all know how Mr Clark was going to drive and as a punter, we took our chances if we backed his horses. The Fiery Ginga was one out of the box, just amazingly tough, and won so many races while being trained by basically an amateur trainer. Alan Clark always ensured there is no loitering in any race that he drives in, and seemed like a nice fellah when he was interviewed. As for Imperial Command being sold for $21K, providing the horse was still sound, then he may well be not too bad value seem he has gone to Oz, where he can be placed better than in NZ, If he remained in NZ then yes he would struggle you would think if he was to continue to race in Canterbury! He has plenty of speed and the trot races are mostly sprints in Oz so he could well win plenty in Oz depending on the state he races in,
  3. Personally wouldn’t touch punting on Gallops to be making money. just too hard to follow form and so many different types of tracks. Personally dont know an restricted gallops punters but do know other harness punters that are restricted. Harness on the other hand is not that hard to make good money if you are prepared to put in timed are astute and methodical.
  4. Gone Surfin surely isnt any value at $5 in that field from 5 the second line? Going to have to be so much better than the others to win from there, you would think? Far too many chances to be gambling in that field?
  5. I love your enthusiasm Gamma for the group racing and tight class racing and Slot races. Not sure too many Punters are as enthusiastic for these Slot races as you are, especially myself lol! Not great punting races due to the number of starters and short odds that will be on offer! We need you over here in NZ for the Promotions Man!
  6. Prefer them to be running more non winner races lol
  7. Na, too much borer in the sleepers!
  8. The early races at Auckland also had pathetically low tote pools! I also notice that the place tote pools are often nowhere near the win pools!! DAH, I wonder why that is now?
  9. Small Car World, is not a small player in harness racing. Very well known businessman, large owner over the years and heavily restricted Punter!
  10. Gamma, can you name one of the “average Joe” that has bought into any one of the slot races in NZ?
  11. Maybe it is green and not race experienced enough? Wonder who bought it and who is training
  12. My question is why was Imperial Command put up for sale on. Gavel? Is Alan Clarke giving the training away? If not I would be very wary of why he was selling the horse!
  13. Wouldnt consider $200k to be a chip in, when you consider the state of harness racing at the moment. Yes we have had this influx of money from Entain for a few years but personally do not have any confidence in the way things are currently being done!
  14. My point exactly! So HRNZ are donating all these $ to owners who wouldve raced for $300k? Seems like a diabolically poor use of money from HRNZ, all things considered?
  15. What was the amount HRNZ is shelling out to subsidise this event?
  16. Think it is a sign of the times now, that we have lost a generation of potential punters coming through! How many know of new punters of our kids age that are now betting on harness racing? Personally do not know any really and this is why the industry is going to be up the creek in years to come. New owners apart from syndicates are also few and far between due to costs to race a horse and returns. Personally do not like large fields to bet into like Addington are currently having, where so many of the fields are just too even and therefore it is gambling rather than investing! Still opportunity to make $ but just not as many as there used to be as the Bookies put out too many “unders”
  17. Brodie has a “never say die” attitude! Where there is a will, there is a way!
  18. Entain may gave coughed up money to buy the controlling rights to the NZ TAB, however they have yet to show that they are successful at what they do! There are things that they have brought in that has reduced profitability without doubt! Yes they are spending massive amounts on advertising on TV, so will be interesting to see how many new accounts are being opened! they need to put the place odds back up on Trackside, but they wont cos they have got a very amateur site from Sport and Racing, Trusted for 20plus years apparently??
  19. Are those blokes from BGP? Interesting that they are restricting galloping punters lol
  20. The racing at Auckland is very average compared to Addington!! Think it is because it is only 1000m2 track and the design. As a punter, I find that it is just not worth the effort!
  21. There is a few things going on tomorrow night, but the betting figures for Auckland I would say are pretty poor nowadays on a Friday night! Saturday night would be a far better night to race in Auckland father than competing against Addington any night! The fields and racing at Auckland now is pretty average so far better on a Saturday night when people csn make a night of it at the weekend.
  22. Far better idea running in a Saturday night anyway! Racing at Alexandra Park against Addington on a Friday night can not be advantageous? Does anyone know if the Auckland turnover has increased since going head to head with Addington?
  23. Gamma has nothing at all to do with me returning a profit! Hardly wager on Cambridge Auckland nowadays. Just trying to point out just how idiotic the decision to race on a Tuesday night as a financially viable decision to keep harness racing alive in the North. They should at least be a Thursday night mixed in with some Friday nights! The nights to race should be Thursday thru to Saturday nights if they want to retain punters and try to attract people oncourse. personally think it was lunacy to race on a Tuesday night, yes good for owners if only a few horses in each race but disastrous for the harness industry going forward. Anyway doesn’t affect me at all but do have grave concerns for the clubs in the North if the hierarchy continue to make poor decisions.
  24. Sounds like bollacks to me! If this is the case that they can not get the money out of China, then surely they must’ve known this ages ago? Surely there would’ve been plenty of dialogue about this and yet ATC are still holding out hope of settlement? Hopefully they do settle or it is probably going to be pretty desperate trying to find a buyer at the level with Mr Li!
  25. Haven’t been in the country for the past month so haven’t been watching harness! However the muppets that decided to race low class racing on a Tuesday night need to own up and admit that they have no business or financial ability! Seriously is a total failure when you have such pathetic size fields and is costing the industry big time! If Brad Steele was in agreement with this total failure then I wouldn’t be having any faith in the bloke whatsoever going forward! To race on a Tuesday night was never a goer and it needs to be stopped now as it ain’t going to get any better. When you have only 46 horses and poor betting then what is the point? Does Brad Steele still maintain that he is happy with what is happening at Cambridge as he did a few weeks ago? It isn’t funny what is happening to our once great harness industry and people are being paid to make these dumb decisions that is making things worse.
