  1. The second night of Friday Night Lights on the whole is going well and a good improvement to what we had on the Friday night, there are a few things that would make it better though! Seriously, does anyone actually enjoy the bloody DRONE, every race?????? For the life of me, I can not see why they bother with it, it is horrendous, show the damn race not something from the Moon!!!!
  2. Nit sure about that? Corey Steele is the bloke that walks the greyhounds ? Whelans also was on Trackside and was into the greyhounds as well. who worked for Ray Green and Phil Williamson?
  3. Stu Campbell. Looks like he has given it away as he is not currently licensed and hasnt lined one up for nearly 10 years. There is no one really in Dunedin training now. The late Ali Malcomson used to train at Tomahawk Beach in Dunedin.
  4. While the club could soon be out of debt that may not last long as it is committed to building a new training centre to replace Franklin Park. “The developer who is buying it has agreed to a two-year lease back to us so we have two years from November, all going well, to have a new training centre,” says MacKinnon. “We have looked very hard at three different places and the one that is most favoured at the moment is in Maramarua. “We also need to talk more to Harness Racing New Zealand about how much they can contribute to it because we don’t believe we should be the only club in the country who has to build a training centre to keep racing going up here. “Obviously we are looking forward to the money coming through as the interest we have been paying for a long time now is quite stifling.” The mega money stuff up aside, the ATC now faces a less important but still challenging problem of how to draw enough horses to race there almost every Friday next season. It will be aided by Cambridge having most of its meetings moved to Tuesdays but MacKinnon says for Alexandra Park to be able to fill fields it will look to programme more sprint and 2200m races. “We like holding 2700m races but we believe horses are more likely to back up the next week if they race in sprints or up to 2200m races so we will be programming more of those.” by Michael Guerin, for the NZ Herald What a total stuff up and they want to be continued to be bailed out with more millions to rebuild? Unfortunately you can not keep putting plasters on and they are toast! There will never be enough horses in Auckland to be able to run profitable race meetings and Entain throwing the money into their stakes just shows how poor Entains decision making is, but they have a plan! Who is it now that has no idea of finances that is running ATC currently?
  5. They are Greyhound affiliated lol
  6. Nathan Williamson and Jo Stevens. Not sure of any of the others
  7. Yeah I recognised her and a couple of others only! Unsung heroes 👍
  8. McLay hasnt had a runner since 2018! Craig Buchan trains out at Mosgiel which is outside Dunedin about 14k from Forbury and doesnt line many up nowadays. the only one is Probably the duel gaited Top Pocket Chance, he would be getting on a bit lol
  9. You know Entain dont like to reward successful punters, Ranga!
  10. Great to see extra money going into stakes, but it is only the money that Entain said they would to get McAnulty to give Entain the TAB for 25 Years! Entain may appear to be the White Knight for racing but they are not! They have racing people sucked in at the moment with their media promotion but unfortunately it is not going to continue with the stakes as high as they are. They dont care that they are wasting money putting it into North Island racing, they will say that they tried and didnt work out! They only want control of the Sports wagering that is where they see their profits, not racing! They have it all planned out, these gambling agencies are ruthless!
  11. Wouldnt think there would be any trainers left training in Dunedin. Waikouaiti on the beach like Amber Hoffman would be the closest to Dunedin. Yes Forbury closing was a shame for harness racing in the South. Provided some real good racing for many decades.
  12. With respect, I havent heard of most of them??
  13. The place odds they offer now mostly give very little to get enthused over. It is a matter of taking what you can get as long as it is worthwhile. Many last night that were just crazy unders and not worth any risk. Sunday meetings are a far better better proposition than the Friday nights!
  14. They are chucking plenty in to advertising on TV trying to get new punters, and maybe it will work and maybe it will not? Going to be interesting what spin they put on it, but personally believe that they would be far better off looking after their EXISTING CLIENTS by retaining them and encouraging their wagering rather than by trying to drive them away! The tote pools especially the place pools look pretty feeble to what they used to be! Who wouldve thought when they are not posting them on Trackside, it is just so diabolically stupid that they stopped this. New punters would be more attracted and more likely to wager if they were showing the place dividends, as no point just having the win as there is often so much difference. News to Entain, that not everyone is interested in betting on a horse to win!
  15. Can Entain please advise us where the horses are going to come from for the midweek meetings at Cambridge?? They are dreaming Jonesy if they think they are going to have enough horses to run a semi successful meeting! There are just not enough owners and horses, end of storey, but they will learn! Be interesting to see what the turnover is for this first Friday Night Lights presentation? Tote pools appear to be pretty small but who knows how much is going on the Fixed odds, would ned to be plenty or they are in trouble!!!
  16. Actually best thing is we arent getting the shite racing from overseas! Yes the Bookies are weak, place odds are crazy short they wont get punters offloading with their unders on offer!
  17. Could not have said it better Nowornever. Let the wealthier owners and corporates transfer money back and forth between them. HRNZ will be putting in all this extra money into the NZ Cup etc. for what? it will not do anything to retain existing owners and smaller trainers at all but let thrm think that it will. Watch the Trackside presenters smile and say just how great it is to have Entain pumping this money into things. It is petty cash for such a massive betting Corporate, painting them out as this life saver White Knight! Hopefully they do save Harness Racing, what will be in 4 years time and before is what we should be worried about! Anyway hope this Friday night Lights is great, and good to see this promotion. Come in Entain, you want increased turnover? Then let the punters on, or are you not wanting increased turnover like you say you do?
  18. Good to see the TAB/Entain are going to be promoting Harness on a Friday night, what a great idea. Hope it works and gets more people interested and promotes promotion of punting, as that is what Entain says they want! Bollacks, I say to them wanting increased turnover on harness! If they wanted increased turnover then they would be doing things differently and there are several ways of increasing turnover but to be fair I do not rate them highly with business sense, due to many of their decisions they have made over the last few months!!!!!! Also question why “The Whale” is doing the tipping and form for both Islands??? No disrespect to Craig, but he is not a particularly successful tipster or punter, the TAB knows this, and that is why they retain him! He is not there to tip winners!
  19. Read yesterday that Katie Cox had passed after a short illness through Cancer. Personally didnt know Katie, but from what I have heard she was a lovely lady. A very dedicated and skilled horse woman, trainer and driver. Taken far too early at 34 and does put things into perspective everyone! We need to make the most of what we have and enjoy the family and friends around us.
  20. They are still very very low amounts arent they? $200 place minimum bet limit for a meeting away from Addington is hardly life changing!
  21. I see the Stipes have suspended Colin Defilippi again for 2 meetings for using the whip more than with a wrist action today! CJ must be loving the stupid whip rule lol Hopefully Mr Brad Steele will sort HRNZ out and get them to change the rule to one that is just not stupid! Come on Colin Defilippi, you should well and truly know by now that you should not be trying so hard to win the race? Yes Colin has been warned, fined and been suspended many times now but Stipes give CJ one of our most respected horsemen, a break.
  22. To be fair, Forbury always adds a lot of light relief to BOAY. Been missing it!
  23. Personally can not agree that the whip is only for show, Chief. I wouldnt wager on any horse where the driver has opted not to carry a whip! My impression when a driver notifies the stipes that he is not carrying a whip, is that the horse is not going to be driven out! Far bigger issues than the whip!
  24. You just have to love the Addington Sunday meetings! Great for the industry, beneficial for the lower class horses that are not really up to the Friday night meetings generally. There were several upsets and great to see the 43 start maiden Bevron win, has had his chances before but always seemed weak in the last 100metres of its races, but not so today. Sir Monty and Pure courage both won again today and both of them took something like 40 starts or so to win their first races if I recall? From a punting perspective, they represent a great opportunity to make money when compared to most Friday meetings! Great interviews as per usual from Nigel Armstrong Harness Racing Unhinged! Is he going to be utilised by Trackside/Entain on Friday Night Lights???????? Put him on the payroll Entain!!!!
  25. Seriously though, we all know that Lamb was not a great starter, and were hoping that his replacement Was going to be better. Reality is, he is but his ability with the standing starts is now questionable. There is absolutely no consistency and the experienced horsemen are taking advantage of the starters leniency! Every race, there are horses in full racing action as the tapes are released and it is being very poorly policed. There are horses off the unruly that are sometimes 30metres behind when he lets them go! It is either a standing start or it isnt and HRNZ need to seriously discuss with their starter what a STANDING START is and for him to abide by having standing starts. Otherwise it is just a farce, so get rid of all stands if the official starter doesnt know what to STAND means?
