Newmarket, I have debated this Betfair Thing Previously. Are you saying that if I wanted to put 2k for a place on a NZ harness horse in a rating 40or 50 race, then I could get it on, no problem? I watched the site months ago and the amount being put on for NZ harness minor races was pretty pitiful. I can’t be bothered sitting there getting small amounts accepted and some not, not worth the effort. What I Want is to be able to put what I want on for fair or good odds during the day at my leisure rather than waiting till 2 minutes before a race! I spoke at length to another restricted punter here who also had accounts closed in Oz and he stated that Betfair does not work for large punters investing on NZ harness lower class racing with Betfair, but then you obviously know differently!
-
All I know is that I have had several Ozzie Agencies stop me from betting on harness racing. I have tried at Agencies in Queensland and bets are restricted on NZ harness to small amounts to win fixed odds! How would Betfair be any damn different. It takes a bit sometimes to open an Ozzie betting account but stop it really quick without needing to give any reason. It is worldwide from what I have read. people that know me, will vouch that I don’t need to give B.S.

You what? What BS? Have a look at the form Newmarket, not that hard.
-
Yes it could be when compared to the 2700m middle distance as they can’t have 2000m races due to the track size
-
Jamie has sent most of his racehorses to Michael House who campaigned them at Manawatu. It is extremely hard for young trainers to make a living in harness training horses when they have next to no chance of picking up major stakes for the reasons that we all know. It is going to be the death nail for many in Canterbury, although some think this domination is good, it damn well isn’t. Trainers don’t express it publicly for obvious reasons but I can tell you that they aren’t happy. Gow can any you g trainer justify an owner buying a yearling for say 30k, spending another 15 to 20k per year training and winning 5 to 10k per year if they are lucky? Look at the size of the Auckland fields on Friday night when the stakes are 12k and 17k!

I would say a sprint distance probably ends at say 2000m anything more than that a middle distance. middle distance anything more than 2000 up to probably 2600 Anything more is a longer distance. Some horses just like sprints but can go further depending on the speed of the longer races. With the aid of videos it wasn’t hard to make good money on harness racing. However nowadays the TAB offer under value odds and limit punters from what they can invest, so has been made difficult to make serious money now. I haven’t bothered to have a investment for approx. 4 weeks but was in OZ for 2 of those weeks. Didnt bother over there either as you can get less on over there now because they supposedly scared of money laundering LOL. Reality is that the TAB is under serious pressure at the moment to make sufficient money from NZ racing so that is why they have bought into that expensive new betting platform. This enables NZ punters to bet on the weight of Jacinda Arderns baby or 2 flies racing up a wall at Beaudesert and it costs them nothing to do this. Betting other than racing is where the NZ TAB sees its future profit lines!

A “sprinter”:is not a horsethat is known for only being capable of running a quick quarter or half at all!!! A “sprinter” is a horse more known for running better at the shorter distances rather than middle or long distance races!!!!!
-
Most horses that win at Menangle over the mile rate at least 1.52 . Dont Waste my time with Ozzie harness anymore As I cant get money on thru Ozzie betting Agencies so I haven’t been following for awhile. What I do know is that you only need to go thru the form and you will see many with plenty of mile wins but not over the 2300m just like Addington racing where some horses just start over 1950m and rarely over 2600m because the trainer knows that they are a better sprinter.
-
My Field Marshall didn’t run 4 fast quarters at all, Cross Codes. He ran fast fist and last quarters but the middle half was pathetically slow!!!!! Brodie is on the money as per normal!
-
So what you are saying is that anything that wins at Menangle over a mile would also be a good stayer? Wouldnt agree with that at all. We all know that there are horses who are good sprinters and not stayers! It is a fallacy that saying that you have to be a good stayer to win a mile at Menangle. There are heaps of horses that win many races at Menangle over the mile and when they step up to the 2300m they are no good. It is like saying that a marathon runner would make a good 100 metre sprinter!!!! Rubbish!
-
If he was bred in Oz then if he does go great does not give any credibility at all to NZ horses,! Seems a bit unfair I would’ve thought seem he raced in NZ predominately and crap in OZ
-
Cardigan Bay I think they said was Australian as well. Lol
-
Heaven Rocks has won his first race in the U.S. It has in the results that Heaven Rocks is from Australia! Does anyone know why this would be the case, or has the owner just stuffed up and told the U.S. harness outfit that the horse came from OZ?
-
Looked at the results for the Menangle meeting last Saturday night, that My Field Marshall ran second after being in front! I note that the winning time of his race was the slowest for the whole night over the mile! Yes, My Field Marshall burnt Out of the gate, but then had 2 pathetically slow 1/4,s which would’ve given him plenty of time to recover before sprinting home quickly. You would have to have serious reservations that he would be capable of winning the NZ Cup over 3200m from a stand on that run wouldn’t you? Most horses would be able to run the time that MFM went last Saturday night I would think if they were trained to run miles on that Menangle track!!
-
Of course the Allstars would improve it!!! they improved Titan Banner and Eamonn MaGuire etc and they were pretty good. Field Marshall got beaten by a horse that came from behind it. Time will tell if they decide to come or not
-
Globe, I wasn’t aware that The AllStars were going to be taking over the training of My Field Marshall? If they were training it then it then it would have a great show!
-
Of course. What will NZ TAB FF Odds Be?
-
Standing start for My Field Marshall will be interesting! Get on early Newmarket on My Field Marshall! I will take anything you want to offload on it. What Odds do you want? I reiterate My Field Marshallis racing nothing at the moment and wouldn’t have a dogs show of winning the Cup. Horses racing in Oz over a mile willl generally not measure up to horses racing in NZ!
-
It was a good run by My Field Marshall, but wouldn’t think he would be much cop the NZ CUp over 3200m. He isn’t racing great horses at the moment I would say! There were several ex NZ horses that are over the hill. Freyberg has been going around for years and Expressionist was a battling horse I think in claimers when he left here! Benecio was with the AllStars and could run a bit but wouldn’t consider him that flash nowadays. Repeat after Me was with Barnes down south I think and a reasonable horse but not top class! The Thing is that any horse can run a mile so form does not stack up that well at a Menangle over the mile, it is a bit of a raffle most of the time, and luck in the running. Why do clubs want to run racing over a mile?
-
Richie, this government is pathetic.
-
Make him a Prime Minister then, the one we have now is hopeless!
-
Don’t believe that the Dunn boys drive to help each other at all! Alldtsrs would be far more common
-
What I do know is that Robert Dunn’s Horses will win a helluva lot more races while Dexter is overseas. It is unbelievable the amount of money Dexter costs the Dunn stable by just beating the Robert Dunn horses.
-
Geez, did Globe Derby really believe I was Newmarket? Brodie only posts under Brodie!
