  1. Gamma, as you know if we do our money from a poor drive then clearly we can feel a bit aggrieved! Lol. I backed the driver in question twice in one night thinking that she was a good driver going by her UDR! I was wrong, her good UDR is due solely to the horse she won with again tonight, Sharkies Girl. Anyway, no use crying over spilt milk, live and learn and onto the next meeting!
  2. Backed it first up at Cambridge and it was more of a cert beaten that night! It galloped away and made up so much ground and hard held! driver had a good UDR so I thought she must be able to drive, but Yeah/Nah!
  3. The beauty of an open forum is to discuss things, and we have different opinions on things! personally dont think 2400m in June for what used to be the end of the season is too hard on 2 year olds. There are many 2 year olds that take older horses later in the season and is a 1700m race at speed any easier than 2400m at a slower mile rate? The point I am trying to make is that races that have big stakes and small fields is no good for the longevity of harness racing! It is costing the industry as it does not get enough revenue from wagering to cover anywhere near the level of stakes!
  4. The Sapling Stakes used to be 2400metres and attracted good size fields! For some reason they think 1700 metres is better for the 2 year olds and yet they are only 2 months away from being 3 year olds under the old NZ season that had the horses age change! Reality is Gamma, that what they are doing is clearly not working, as only 6 starters and half the field coming out of the Dunn’s Woodend Beach stable! Where are all of the other 2 year olds wanting to race, if this 1700m sprint race is easier on young horses? Harness just can not be successful if they continue to be putting up reasonable money in age group and Group races and have only 5 or 6 starters. all those races are not attracting sufficient money to cover the costs and just turns off the people they need! PUNTERS!
  5. 60k and 6 horses is a continuation of the small fields in the races that owners/trainers wanted to win! Terrible races to punt into, a d why on earth is it 1700 metres? Sprint racing doesnt entice punting in harness racing, so why do they persist?
  6. The smaller fields nowadays are the group races or tighter class races! The looser classes and maiden's tend to have much fuller fields and far better for wagering into in Brodies world!
  7. Who is over the low class racing? Low class racing is what is popular for Brodie!
  8. There are a lot of horses that arent paying their way and may not be saleable overseas. Put s claiming price on it and get rid to someone else!
  9. We seem to have a lot of racing in the canterbury area nowadays, and would love to see the claiming races back in play! Michael House you would think could just about provide a whole field by the amount of claiming type horses he enters! Think it would give a bit of variety to the racing at Addington and would give the opportunity for owners to buy readymade horses! There are many horses that would be improved by changing trainers and drivers and also give current owners cash in their pockets rather than out! The claiming races would be better punting on than the Amateur ones surely?
  10. How did you know Ranga? Have I mentioned that?
  11. so the North Island Breeders Stakes is now not a Group Race, due to the fact that they allow class 35 fillies and mares to start? It was a Group Race previously! The fact that it has lost its classification, does not alter the fall from grace that this once time honoured mares race has endured!!!
  12. Are you Serious TAB? when you have a tote pool of $2 to 4k, you think it would be worthwhile for a punter to put another 1k or more into it? 😂 And talking to Dean Shanon or this Cam is going to have the TAB treating all punters equally? At the end of the day they imposed the restrictions and have maintained the pathetic amounts for years! While they are there , I will continue to point out the error of their ways!!,
  13. If your facts are true TAB, imagine how much more turnover could be achieved if the TAB actually allowed Punters to wager rather than restricting them? Maybe you could have a word in the ear of Dean Shannon if Entain want more TAB turnover? Restrictions must be costing the industry mega millions every year, but then again they arent showing that they have things under control!
  14. Why hadnt it been run for 12 years, Spatchcock? Yes well aware what R35 means, but having class 35 runners in a Group race is pretty average I would’ve thought? Personally I would not say it was a nice field at all, but then we see things differently! Soatchcock, yes that is the problem the North havent got the owners wanting to race horses despite the larger population.
  15. That’s right, no one can be a winning punter, so tell that to the TAB and get our restrictions dropped ASAP! I would’ve thought it pretty obvious why we dont tip on a public forum?
  16. No one will be banned from tote wagering. Would be interested to know how many gallops punters were restricted! I was told there were none a few years ago, might be different now but the harness punters ate the ones that are victimised! People I speak with, can not believe that the TAB actually restrict some punters to pathetic amounts to win, and think it is so wrong! Many of these people will not ever be betting with the NZTAB!, Yes there are some successful punters but putting restraints on winning punters has major consequences for the industry! Come on Entain, how about coming out and advise us what your plans are for the racing industry after the 2 years us up and then when the stake money guarantee ends?
  17. The Diamond Stables horses are racing well, but they are also taking advantage of the fact that they are racing inferior horses st the moment without many AllStars or Telfer trained horses due to the season! John is also outdriving most of the others, as they are allowing him to dictate most races he wins!
  18. You are correct, but to be fair, most of the racing at Alexandra Park nowadays is not overly exciting! ”The Candyman” ffs, just had the horse power with both of his big race wins, and both were never going to get beaten with the way the races were run.
  19. The North Island Breeders Stakes was once a time honoured race! Last night was the 45th running of it, and it was for class 35 fillies and mares, which is surely just taking the piss? Class 35 and you can start in a glamour event like the North Island Breeders Stakes? Boudica took it out from the back mark, after sitting parked? It just shows how lacking for horses Auckland is when Boudica was able to win it? Boudica has won races but you would not consider her to be anywhere near being a top mare by any standards, and to be able to win a group race against some average horses is surely showing that there are some major issues within harness racing?
  20. Newmarket, it is not difficult to make money wagering on harness racing! You should only bet on fixed odds, need to be disciplined and put the time and effort in! And continue to moan about TAB restrictions! The thing is they will never stop Brodie from consistently making a profit!
  21. I am sure there will be some value in a lot of them, but clearly there wasnt a lot of interest in many of them. So many well under service fees so it doesnt bode that well for future weanling sales, does it? Cost of living is biting for many and purchasing and racing harness horses is not on the average persons agenda. Quite depressing for the breeders unless they have the top mares to breed from and if you haven't, then many will just give the breeding business away, you would have to think as it is going to be financially unviable!
  22. Median only $6,500! That is a shocker for breeders and for most certainly a financial loss for them!
  23. Lol Wasn’t that long ago we were talking about how average the Diamond Stables were going! As Westview states, they are very hardworking and a very hardworking family affair. They deserves the results they get, they appear to be able to attract and retain staff and appear to be a happy bunch on Harness Racing Unhinged videos. To operate such a large training establishment you have to be very dedicated and that is what the Dunn’s are. Without the no.s of their horses lining up, many races would not be run, and they travel their horses around the South Island as well.
  24. Probably agree with you as I wasnt able to talk to any Bookie, just frontline female! People told me to bet on Ozzie accounts but that didnt work! Personally believe that they dont give a rats about their customers and do appear very arrogant. interesting to see what happens, and what the current staff in Wellington are actually doing?
  25. Well done with your winning, however you were a naughty boy for winning 🥇! That is a no no with gambling agencies! They are not there to let punters take money off them, we only welcome losing punters and we will give them bonus bets to keep you with us. I lasted a few months and then just didnt allow any bets on harness racing. They are such bullies and dont play fair, Entain are not the White Knight that the racing industry was looking for unfortunately!
