Auckland has quite a good corporate side, lots of work places in the city do nights out etc moving out in my opinion would kill off the gimmick side of things there. Traffic is a major issue for people getting anywhere in Auckland and the further out of the city, in my opinion the less people are going to want to make the effort, let alone get there before the 5th race. Having been to menangle in outer Sydney and the great harold park in glebe, there is no contest......menangle too far out and has zero appeal apart from a t.v perspective robbing most of Sydney new comers to the sport a close up fun night out at the trots.rip harold park

People would hate to go to Avondale, its a shithole, bagdhad has less hostile inhabitants.. and its an arsehole to get to. Epsom has everything, motels etc. Moving the home of northern harness would most certainly be the death of it.

Their top horses have a high attrition rate....what ever they use it seems to give them super equine power until reality catches up with the poor creatures... and it seems to happen to all of them.

Pretty much the south is holding harness racing together, if the good stakes disappeared from Alex park who knows how long it would carry on. Mind you it is a great track as far as facilities go good resturants and great track to watch live racing at....plus very close to the city. I would be very sad if it did ever dissapear. Four tracks in the north that were always well supported but shut we're ruakaka, claudlands, thames ...but Wellington especially killed off the central district's part of the north island.

I'm going to implement my own restrictions on the tab, for every $1 I lose I'm only going to let them take 10c .....ahhhh still a big loss for the year, but don't have to expain to the wife that the money went to pay for a distant cousins funeral that died 10x this year. ..only once will do?

I cant recall any adverts that the tab put on the television in years gone by of people looking gloomy and leaving a tab or racecourse with empty pockets, they were advertising winner's !!!!

Don't worry they will send their 7th 8th and 9the best horses that are running poorly over here and like magic they will endure the arduous travel and still race 4wide in every race and win!

Thats crazy, plus a flight initially from nz, Victoria, Queensland, south Australia or W.A....hard to condition horses with that crazy travel. Interdoms were based on a simple formula, this sort of crap is what puts it in the too hard basket for most owner's and trainer's. I wouldn't be surprised if it's just mainly low class nsw country horses that contest this edition....

Basically going back to how the tab was in the latest 80s early 90s when Saturday afternoon they would have selected races from Australian main tracks, our local meetings always had a great turnover back then and decent pools. Why do they continue flogging this dead dog which is American racing and the likes of Tokyo keiba which 9/10 times isn't even covered by trackside, where there is no form guide and no money in the pools! All this extra racing incuding 90% of the Aussie crap is surely detrimental to our local product.

Chances are off spring of all stars great mares will have 6 legs and 8 eyes!! But on a serious note not many of the great mares I can think of even produced raceable off spring let alone anything good, the real champs like delightful lady, bonnies chance, Armalight, blossom lady etc

Correct when harness racing is totally f..ked here and group 1s have only one stable contesting them elmer fudd will just go back to hunting bugs bunny a very rich man.....no doubt they are pushing the boundaries the way horses that were driven with a sit and struggled most of this season can now race 3 wide most of a race now and win...

Funny Greg must be a real cick thunt , he was the only one who was apparently confused about who was going to win the final when the final was named and all stars had a runner paying $1.45!!

I have to agree, when an idiom final winner pays $1.30 on the tote something is wrong!! It has been hammered most of this season by other stable mates, wins junior ffa on cup day and is suddenly a champion............Auckland cup meeting another snore fest. Christmas has come early for ggoooooo the sniper yeeeahhh the winter and it'll beeeee meee fav the reactors turn in Auckland cup goooooo Elmer Fudd and the dyyyyke on the bike yeeehaa
