Time for you two bickerers to call it a night. A classic 70's American sitcom 'The odd couple' has you paired off nicely. The odd couple were two friends recently separated from their wives and agree to share a NY apartment. Let the sparks begin. One, Felix, aka Chief Stipe, is neat, tidy and loves order. The other, Oscar aka TAB For Ever is messy, crass and will never sweat the small stuff..😇

Entain was on a mission to roll out by end April. Transferring historical data was more time consuming than anticipated. Meantime despite continual improvements I still get the spinning wheel for 12 to 16 cycles, approx 10 seconds delay when first opening the site!

I am setting myself up for the Thomasschizo of the month award as I agree with both Chief Stipe and TAB for Ever. The best thing that can happen is that for a specific payment by a specific date, yearlings that do not go through NZB can also be eligible. If NZTR do not this then unfortunately it is showing that our industry is being hijacked.

Huey is on to it. Trying to pretend they are academics.

That is a total cop out. Endeavour to do it once and do it right and then if not right do your best to put it right. Ellerslie to date has been far more spin than substance however we shall now await and see what happens come spring time.

Yes, similar betting backgrounds. The only difference I have always been lucky so in those early years would get out of self dug holes time and again with jam not skill. Triple trio was the promo, the suits back then thinking what works in Hong Kong will work here. Reminds me, what have they tried to replicate with the Ellerslie track? The way forward for serious punters is too wait for the track upgrades to be completed and bet where you feel you can trust the track. Downside is many will find other things to do. I have always been loyal to NZ racing but again find myself thinking where else to focus...

WHY!! Not directed at you Newmarket but really how hard is it to show this detail. Mostly curiosity, but there has been many a time over the years I got to know "what I was sweating on" in the last leg.

You are away with the fairies TAB for Eva. Tracks that are continually overwatered and under maintained will become dodgy. Punters in particular dodge them. You may well be Peter Pan looking for the next fix with a few dollars bet here and there but the serious punters like myself who create turnover are more and more walking away. There is nothing more depressing reading after the event about horses who refuse to let down because of shifty track conditions. Ellerslie who you keep harping on as being in magnificent condition is a disgrace. Massive money spent on a fool proof track and it is only fools like you who are amazed by its condition. Remember the industry were assured it would handle whateva weather...yeah right.

Does anyone know where they hide the dividends for last leg i.e R7 Awapuni today will pay quaddie

That track was irrigated, no ifs or buts. Bottom line do not believe what they write (no rain previous 24 hours, 10mm last 7 days, no comment re irrigation) and starts out as a heavy 8 and races accordingly. Use your eyes to decide the state of the track

Super Photon won easily in Te Rapa's main race today, 2yo 1400. Tellingly jockey McNab was honest (read BRAVE, enough) to say despite winning the horse did not handle the track conditions (over watered..my words). I accept interest starts to wane by late autumn for many but this fixation with over watering IMO is losing turnover because trust is out the window. Here is a question; did the warm fav Domain Ace get well beaten by not seeing out the step up to 1400m or was it it due to another dodgy track?

Samsung but you may have to allow/permit microsoft to access all files on your phone. Apple I don't know

On your laptop go into racing hub. On your phone, bottom right click on 'more' and that will give you options incl pdf. Don't forget to keep your strength up. spinach on your dinner menu tonite

There are so many neglected tracks that over watering appears to be a given no matter what time of the year. NZTR site says for Te Rapa no rain last 24 hours, 10mm last 7 days. Then has the temerity to describe todays track as a heavy8 which is officially 'Rain affected track that horses will get into.'

Key point as highlighted in a previous post Avondale not expected to be required beyond 2025/26 season and discussions with the club are ongoing. The future of Tauranga continues to be uncertain with a decision as to the land being used to build a hospital not expected until next year. Waikato are still working on a "Master facilities Plan" (Their words, not mine) Proposed installation of irrigation at both Hawera and Waverley will improve their availability to race. Wairoa have officially been given the boot. Then the 'smokey, statement. Quote ' Discussions continue about the long term venue for Hawkes Bay RI' unquote. Woodville is safe until 2029, personally I think they should be considered safe permanent but NZTR seem to have an irritation with Woodville. Raced fine today. The other 'smokey' statement is as follows, quote"NZTR understands that the potential redevelopment of RACE Trentham, IF IT PROCEEDS, is likely to commence after Wellington Cup week in Jan 2026" unquote. South Island no change as we currently know it except confirmation that will continue to race at Oamaru and Timaru.

Weigh In with the previously MIA Bruce Sharrock

Four years and counting. Should be a good four summers ahead but the 50/50 profit taking kicks in at that point and I am pickin' thats when the kickin' will hurt -
Weigh In with the previously MIA Bruce Sharrock
Wingman replied to curious's topic in Galloping Chat
I thought this was an excellent 'last show'. Next season it will be under the control of Entain. What I learnt was; a) The revised venue plan is to be released on Friday b) NZTR are well under way with commercially sensitive discussions/ negotiations with Avondale where in the short term the track will be utilised for trials c) Total stakes will further increase next season to $100M and +5% to $105M for 2025/6 d) Entain/NZ Breeders have an announcement in the coming month that will revolve around incentives as they acknowledge there must be support to stem the reducing foal crop. e) NZTR CEO, previously MIA said it was imperative to get partial abandonments down to zero. I was not convinced he was convinced or convincing. It was disappointing co presenter MG didn't have the guts to ask at least one tough question and that question obviously is "Why is the cannot fail strathayr Ellerslie track continuing to fail?" -
OK lets play the ball, not the man. Reality, not fiction, everyone who had/has a decent understanding of NZ racing, this is over many decades, agreed there were too many thoroughbred racetracks. The same problem then arises, happy to see less tracks...caveat, AS LONG AS IT IS NOT MINE!!! The industry has been playing musical chairs for a very long time and unfortunately the wrong people continued to sit in the reducing number of chairs. Then the corporate model came into play in the early 2000's and that is why we are now in the horseshit. There is a way out but it requires a cleanout of current executive and replace them with thoroughbred nerds who have executive talent and/or potential and importantly are not double dippers. The focus is then on the industry and the very most important part of the equation...the customer. Profit (not a dirty word) must then follow, not dominate.

Ellerslie to race again! Message from NZTR.
Wingman replied to Chief Stipe's topic in Galloping Chat
Well said Curious. The sticking point with everyone who wishes this track to succeed is why is it now on a 50/50 knife edge when this was (according to all the hype from ARC/NZTR/Strathayr) going to be state of the art racetrack that will not fail. -
Forget about the history what's the F-ing track going to be like?!
Wingman replied to Chief Stipe's topic in Galloping Chat
The new direction is from the pulpit to the confessional. In the real world this has DCM written all over it -
Sunline as well (Listed 2yo)

Forget about the history what's the F-ing track going to be like?!
Wingman replied to Chief Stipe's topic in Galloping Chat
The new Ellerslie track has not been right no matter what the weather conditions. That wasn't the deal we were 'sold'. Are we steering down at yet another white elephant. Perhaps it really is time to sell the rest of the course and develop a new track in the Waikato. Whatever is done , before anything, please, please, clean out the current executive -

Wingman replied to Chief Stipe's topic in Galloping Chat
There is more to this than is publicly been told. Gary Grylls statement that the track didn't allow horses to get their hooves into it as much as when they trialed last Monday poses the question WHY? Wilcox says they will aim for 25 May meeting "So we can keep working on it (the track)and learning how best to prepare it" Does that fill one with confidence? Finally CEO Sharrock has been MIA this month as this debacle unfolds. He is scheduled to appear on the last edition of this seasons Weigh In next Monday. Will we be enlightened?
