Well the Tories have hardly covered themselves with Glory when it comes to racing. Nathan Clown did nothing in his time other than appoint fools who screwed up at NZRB. In fact two of the tracks that will likely disappear are in his electorate. I could imagine the conversation at Levin when someone suggests that they seek his help.

Or training tracks such as Foxton, Masterton and Levin. They should be very worried.

A huge concern for some time is that there is no democratic process, ie. clubs are unable to vote. If Clubs are unhappy with NZTR well its tough luck as NZTR has huge power which of course they will argue is for the benefit of the code. After this Bill goes through, any club bold enough to challenge NZTR runs the risk of being rubbed out.

I was lucky to see The Mighty Young Quinn win the Miracle Mile in 1975. He drew the outside of 6 and he was written off because no horse had won from that draw. Charlie Hunter drove him and let him idle along at the back until about 400 from home when he took off looped the field and bolted in. I recall that night the crowd was massive, I watched the race from the back straight fence. Prior to The Mircale Mile he had been unbeaten throughout The Interdoms, winning the final with ease.

I recall being over for the 2003 Melbourne Cup and they had Paris Hilton and her sister there to promote it. The press had a field day and let's just say that there were some very lucky Aussie lads who got VIP treatment at "The Paris Hilton".

The CD trainers that have moved up north in recent years have not performed anywhere as well as they did in the CD. Andrew Campbell was amazingly succcessful out of Masterton although he has had problems with a virus affecting his stable a couple of years ago just after moving to Cambridge. Karen Zimmerman who is a very hard worker has never really got to first base since movig north. I see that she has teamed uo with Nigel Tiley so maybe her fortunes will change.

Its mad, I went to The bank today to purchase a couple of hundred in Thai Bart for when we stop over in Bangkok on the way to Europe. The bank wanted identification in case I was money laundering.

Its tied into anti money laundering legislation which has been in force for many years. It covers the TAB, Banks and other entities that deal with large sums of cash. However when you consider the vast sums that have remmitted into the country to purchase property etc. it hard to believe that the majority of this is not money laundering.

Barry you wil be pleased to know that Tauherenikau has been upgrading its buildings in recent years as it has turned around financially from significant deficits to large surpluses. Tauherenikau's New Year's meeting on 2 January attracted a crowd of 12k. In my biased opinion it is the most beautiful course in the country.

In fact when Cullen left office as Minister Of Finance the country had stuff all debt and $20Billion in the Cullen fund. English sold assets so as to return a budget suplus which of course is like selling the crown jewels to pay for the groceries.

So did Peter Vela put pressure on NZTR to the fund $500k for The Magic Millions or was it other members of The Auckland Racing club who are on the NZTR Board? Or is it a requirement for those NZTR Board Members to declare a conflict in interest and stand down from discussion and voting on matters relating to the Magic Millions funding?

Almost all of the 7pm shows going way back to Holmes have been fronted by wankers and sure its PC crap. Problem for Leo is that there are current and prospective customers watching the show who would consider him to be stupid so he has probably lost these as customers.

Let's not forget the objective was to close tracks, sell them and pocket the cash to fund the big "Bludging Clubs" .
