  1. Some good memories right there…. Back then racing & rugby worked together, was a group of us that would meet at The Lancaster for a jug before Canterbury played on a Saturday arvo…. then special buses would cart you off to Addington for the trots…. we loved it.
  2. No mate…. too busy punting🫣
  3. I get what you’re saying, but you have to be realistic. So many variants, too wet, too dry, wide draw, too short distance, too long distance, straight too short, straight to short…. and so on. One thing I will say…. if every race at the poly track at Riccarton one Saturday was worth $40k…. all of a sudden trainers would be jumping out of trees to line up. Just to add, of course I would rather watch and bet on the grass at Riccarton, that’s a given. But at the same time, I can see the benefits of racing on the poly, some horses love it, some don’t.
  4. Well….. Kevs got his pride and joys out in the first race today….both got good draws, maybe one can lead and dawdle, then run home??? I expect a bit of pressure in this race…. if that is the case, I’m picking Patiro to win, $4.50 seems good value
  5. People need to move on…. get behind the poly….
  6. If your that worried about the abuse on other site…. just don’t look at it. The more that’s posted on here about them…. will fuel the fire. Saying that, all of these types of sites need a few wind up merchants…. otherwise nobody would log on
  7. How disappointing with the small fields today? Why did so many owners/ trainers scratch? Always complaining when trials or meetings don’t go ahead, yet on our back doorstep is a local meeting? Yes I know it’s not grass, but surely let’s get behind it more, who knows how the winter ahead will turn out. Just for the record, from a punters view, I don’t mind betting on it, form holds up well, and the $6 on Spartan today was great 😁
  8. Well done the Dunn stable last night, some great wins. Another poor night by the Allstars stable, but don’t panic they are going well according to the Chief and his HRNZ figures 😙
  9. The neighbour popped over for a cup of sugar just at the right time….so her and the Mrs were part of the Quin….think I’m too old for a treble, quaddie….or even think about a pick 6🤭
  10. Great that they are passionate, that’s fantastic. But as Kenny Rogers sung…. You gotta know when to hold them 🎵, know when to fold them 🎶…. Kenny would have dished these old nags ages ago…..then dealt himself a few more to train.
  11. Who cares…. you know what it’s like on the other site. I clashed with Molloy…so was not gonna last long. Not looked there for ages…. It was pathetic getting a one sided view.
  12. Too true, what is it with the stable racing there?
  13. Between the sheets about 6am this morning… slow early, improved then produced a dour staying performance to finish all over the top of them 🤭
  14. Hey Chief, so what are your views on Mark and Nats involvement in Blood Equine Services? Now don’t get upset, I’m not saying it wasn’t all above board, but if you look at the timing when they were involved, the stable delivered its best results. And while some had differing views on how it helped the horses, obviously for owners / trainers to spend big money on it, must have produced results.
  15. Gee Gamma…. not like you to serve it up to people…. poor Nathan he is living the dream in obviously a good paddock…. like me 🤭
  16. The numbers in the 2yo races lately are a concern….
  17. We lived in Warrington St for many years, until I left home and moved about a bit, don’t miss Opawa
  18. Maybe so, but you stated you were surprised that meeting was still on, and conditions not good. Surely it’s like any workplace, if you’re putting yourself, staff & jockeys in a non ideal situation…. you should have done something about it and scratched them.
  19. Surely your joking….. Dom is a complete tosser…..Why would OP ever think of doing a podcast with him? He asked some pathetic questions, listened to first 15 mins but had enough, he did say he liked the girls🤣🤣
  20. Funny you post that, lived over Opawa way many years ago….. Heathcote usually burst its banks couple times a year…. nothings changed
  21. But if you were that concerned….. why didn’t you scratch?
  22. Used to love watching winter racing, Greek Meer ploughing through the mud while it was pissing down…..used to happen most weeks. Hardly now though, too many snowflakes, too bad if you have a mudlark, hardly gonna get a run….
  23. State of emergency….. don’t be fooled mate. It’s mainly in the Selwyn district or areas that flood all the time, so be exception is Akaroa highway, that’s bad. Bugger all in town, of course the low lying areas that sunk after earthquakes, but that’s always gonna happen.
  24. Worked in construction mate for many years….started work at 6am working 10hr days, so while you stopped at 10am warming ya hands and having a snooze…. I was still doing the heavy lifting in all conditions….. god you come up with some shit, what about everyone else working outside each day…..
  25. But this is normal down here….as a kid I had ice on the inside of my bedroom window when I woke up?
