  1. Thought first race interesting. Fav here could easily get rolled, especially with Aussie drawn 1. Best lay of day for me. Could see seaswift joy leading all way in r4, and habiti Inta a big chance to beat enghien r5.
  2. Sad to see Jack leave us, he was a real gentleman. Many top drivers never win a nz cup, but he did with globe bay many years ago. Glen Moiria was a good mare also in the 80s.
  3. ITS NEARLY HERE!!!! So come on, who’s got a few outsiders worth including come Sat. It’s looking like a day for fav punters, but who knows. We need a few longshots for the exotics!
  4. I think RS put Rod on spot about a book he wrote many years ago. Rod left site shortly afta. Some on here will confirm, might have been curious & kak involved.
  5. Good to see him giving it a go.
  6. Yes, hi Thomas. Welcome
  7. Old Thomas is here. Where’s Rod Hill, he might be writing another book.
  8. Riccarton a bit the same. Still a bog at times, but many a horse still win on the inside. I remember a few years back, everyone headed for select strip out wide, not so much now.
  9. Partyon doubtfull starter, as are a couple of others.
  10. Thought maybe habibti inti could knock off einheign. Most races favs look home, but I bet we have a few big div placing. Good luck Globe, and all other connections with horses racing on Sat, it’s a big effort to even get a horse to start on the day.
  11. Yes he is driving well, he deserves winning driving champs.
  12. It’s a tough life globe being an owner or punter!
  13. That explains a few rides lately! Now I know what the race callers quote means , 3 back on inner smoking a pipe! ??
  14. Bussitin/ young have 2 horses out tonight, both good bets. Tapanui, extra distance & better track will help, dramatist other one. Get on
  15. If you look at many studies on humans on various sports, seems a performance increase of between 3% & 17% with caffeine in certain doses. So a battling horse maybe not worth the coffee, but the best chance in a race surely worth a latte, just to make sure of the result. If those tested never won that day, it probably wouldn’t be such a huge deal. But the more you look at it, the more it worries.
  16. So a trainer goes to a low key meeting with a few good chances, nothing like a boost before you offload on the hot favs on the tote.
  17. I don’t care for all the bullshit stories, fact is it’s a banned substance.
  18. No doubt The Doctor will be chipping away at the Dunn’s, giving plenty of advice. Funny , that even with The Doctors courtlike speech, they still pleaded guilty? ?
  19. Apparently crowd went crazy, mud wresting, fights , drinking games. That’s what’s missing in nz racing
  20. Nasty reply to Reefton? You need to chill a bit, you are now on the premier racing site, so no need to put people down.
  21. Xmas At The Races. When this first started, I thought it would be a flop, I’ve changed my mind bigtime. I know many people who have had Xmas work functions, family or groups just meeting up, I have not heard anything negative from anybody. Would be great to see a jackpot run on it, just like the old days. If nobody picked it on the day, it would roll over to next Xmas meeting. I suppose the only thing holding something like this back, is the ageing jetbet system. If the nz tab offered an option that overseas agencies couldn’t, this would be a way of luring back punters on course. Start off with $100k, that would see a bit of interest, what do you think?
  22. Barry & Hesi need to team up & get a mouse circus going. Big money if they can train a few to do tricks?
  23. If the main tracks in nz were 100%, maybe closing down some of the country tracks may make sense. But some country tracks have far better racing conditions/ surfaces than main centres. It may make sense to an accountant to close some country tracks, but I think it will be a big mistake if it happens. I love the country tracks, main thing I look forward to over Xmas.
  24. Most of the blokes had boring suits on, but I suppose with royal protocol, they had too. Im no fashion guru, but I told family last night that I could make that gown easily on our old Bernina! Amazing what a bit of grog does to ones state.
