Steel Balls was mentioned purely to state the TAB knew what was going on but still used him as a poster boy right until the end…. so he had a lucky streak early on… but his unlucky streak lasted awhile…. anyone around the Harness scene heard the issues… TAB turned a blind eye. Anyway, it seems your a bit angry with the other site, so all the best with that battle, seems its been going on for years, you do know if you are like me, and never look what they are posting… you never know

Come on Hesi…. your starting to sound like a Chief Mini Me, you used to have your own opinions, whats happened? How many people with an addiction seek help, well i will tell you, very, very few. Its usually when people are at rock bottom that help is sought, far to late. We have supermarkets now that have reduced hours for selling beer…. Bars that are looked at for supplying pissed customers grog….Work places that enforce strict rules to keep workers safe…. Casino staff giving punters time outs…. Lotto enforcing spending limits….. Then you have Betcha / TAB with their Safer Gambling BS…. which puts the onus back on to the punter, a bit of wording and if ya think ya spending to much, heres a couple of options but we want as many mugs punting as we can…we need more of them so Entain get their profits….

Fast forward to today, and its full on 24/7 punting, kids getting enticed. Recently a good friend opened up about their grandson, nobody gambled in the family, but their 19yo son had been betting with his mates on sports, which progressed to online casino. Family knew nothing about his gambling, he lost his savings of $20k as well as racking up 3 credit cards and a personal loan, all up lost $35k in just over a year…. Only reason shocked family found out, was a bailiff called around to his home… at which time he broke down. His credit rating has been affected and the family had to take out loan on house to pay debts, it has really affected all the family. So, yes there is a reason i feel strongly about this, will be many others around NZ with the same story.

Yes, but some worse than others. Majority of problem gamblers are betting with Casinos, non stop quick gambling, Entain next, then Lotto. And soon …. Online gambling will be allowed in NZ from other countries… WTF am i missing?

Yes, lotto limits are online, i only play a few lines each week so doesnt bother me….. You make a good point, if Betcha / TAB were doing their job, anyone having a bad run for a few months should at least be contacted, i know nobody that has been contacted, they are a fraud. Remember Steel Balls, TAB knew he had issues, rumours were well around town and everyone knew he was credit betting…. But you cant compare lotto, majority spend only on the Weds & Sat, so 2 lotto draws. Compare that with hundreds of races each day 24/7, from any desperate track in the world, who cares where.

I am sure you will remember…. but one of the main points to stop NZ punters betting overseas, was overseas operators where not looking after NZ problem gamblers habits…. what a load of shit. As i have said, Aus operators always sent a monthly statement showing win/loss…. Betcha & TAB never do this, have to look at statement which only shows all bets, deposits & withdrawals…. not a win / loss statement. Since Entain has been onboard, we are bombarded with TV advertising targeting new punters…. its a disgrace.

Most sensible post i have seen recently. No smoke and mirrors, everything clear. i have said it before, and will say it again, once NZ Greyhound racing is banned…. shortly after no Australian Dog Racing will be available for NZ punters to bet on. Some NZ Greyhound owners and trainers have already discussed pushing for Aus dog ban, as well as the groups that initially got behind banning NZ dogs…. cant have it both ways. And to be honest, i will back a total ban on dog racing on Betcha / TAB….. grab the popcorn, Entain will be well short on expected revenue, get what they deserve.

Wow, how bad was that incident, i was waiting for someone to post about it but as nothing, had to ask. Obviously his health is the main concern, and i hope he recovers well. But i have never seen anything like that, was the seat loose, or did something break, stewards report say little about it?
