You do miss the point at times, who is comparing Betfair to a mainstream betting agency…. my point is he will no longer be able to bet at Betfair…. And I’m not sure if you have a reading problem or not…. so are you saying Betfair has only small pools on sport? Oh deary me…

Met a mate today for lunch, likes to punt but mainly on sport. While he bets with TAB & Betcha he also uses Betfair. He used the Golf this morning as an example, he likes to punt on first round leaders, TAB & Betcha had no live option this morning but luckily as the leaderboard changed frequently he was able to bet / lay on Betfair, made a very good profit. But now, he is looking to close both TAB & Betcha accounts, as without Betfair and other Aus accounts, he sees gambling without the certainty of live markets will limit his winnings, so getting out. Just another example of what punters see with these changes…

You sort of think Aus will start charging more for product, why not. Can’t have it both ways….

Depends on a few things…. Betcha have offered me a deposit bonus bet match of 50% up to $100, they offer this often, while the TAB have stopped any offers, and remember they used to offer 2nd, 3rd &4th bonus back races ….. but these have now declined and only offer 2nd & 3rd on less races. So I’m predicting there may be an increase of betting turnover initially…. but once offers decline turnover will decrease…… I have 20 mates on a watts app…. All gamblers, all made contact yesterday and all have overseas accounts….. none stated they will punt more with NZ Entain…..good

Why should NZ Entain expect to clip the ticket on my betting on Aussie racing? I don’t think people understand what has previously happened, for an example I will use Sportsbet… They give me many bet returns or other promo offers each day, Saturday the best is when I use the most on Aussie racing, also give me up to $50 any leg fail SGM on basketball, League, AFL, so I usually use these options, far better than tab / betcha offer. Why the hell do NZ think they deserve all of overseas betting, WTF. There’s a reason punters bet overseas, they might be restricted in NZ, bet types, better odds etc…. i for one…. WILL MAKE SURE I BET THE SAME IN NZ AS ALWAYS…. Or less, because we know what will happen, once Entain have the monopoly, TAB & Betcha will offer less & less promos and worse odds…. this will happen pretty quick, as soon as they do this, turnover will tumble….

Totally agree, hopefully this backfires bigtime….. otherwise Entain will make a bundle and bank it overseas. McAnulty was stupid teaming up with Entain, could have had far better opportunities if NZ teamed with Sportsbet…

What sport, you mean racing? Poor old punter expected to prop up racing is it, so while anyone can gamble on a casino overseas and buy anything they want overseas, NZ government now insists that they control where I gamble….. even worse 90% of my gambling is on overseas sports or Aus racing….. overseas operators could argue they provide the goods, so should get more from it? And what about the dogs…. so looks like they are going, but hang on, it seems Entain will still provide Aus greyhounds for NZ punters to gamble on….. FFS. I’m angry about this….

Nope, talking to Sportsbet today, it seems if it’s law in NZ they will not allow NZ punters to bet with them, they also stop some Aussie states from promotions.

It’s another gambling site run by Entain and operated by Australians. Supposedly targeting younger punters who want to gamble on sports, but you can bet on horses also. No agencies, all online depositing and withdrawals

Yes I had mentioned that I get better offers from Betcha which is why I now use them over TAB. I am puzzled why would they offer better matched deposits, bonus bets for a punter like myself, around 70% horses & 30% sport? I thought it was targeting sports punters only. Yes they do offer different bet types, but mainly the same, even app same. I even had contact with my account manager from Betcha, asked me to let me know if I want tickets to events…. never had anyone ever contact me from TAB

Only 6% of all NZ turnover? Wow, thought it would be more that. Do you know the breakdown sport vrs racing? I struggle with the targeted market…. as they offer everything the TAB has so targeting the same market. Only real difference, all deposits a withdrawels online only.

So we don’t know figures for Betcha? I know it’s targeting youngsters to gamble, especially in the sports area, but I’m an old fart, Betcha are sending me bonus matched deposits nearly every week, and on fridays and saturdays I get about 18 bet returns available… so actively competing with NZ TAB…. end result being I am hardly betting with TAB anymore…. So interesting

Interesting thread….. What about Betcha? Is money gambled with Betcha included in TABs turnover? Seems very strange Entain starting Betcha in NZ, we were told it was targeting younger gamblers, but really both are similar.
