NZ supposed to be a peaceful place on the planet too lol ? 😁

(leaving the issues of Tracks aside) Hint, it is Not the upcoming race meetings! It is about the Liquation of Avondale! I (presume) that BS is standing aside so that the New CEO will Drive this going forward!!! This new fella/woman could learn a thing or two about how to close down a function race course, especially so from the fella I mentioned in the lead post! Agree with you, the next person in will be in for their slashing services. Knocking off these venues instead of trying to utilise them will be the end of it here.

Or are you saying he hasn't been involved at all? I guess he is going onto things more in the sporting field? Or is he lined up for the CEO role at the CJC? Either way contrary to the mandatory accolades that are bestowed in theses cases what actually has he achieved?

I've already moved on from BS! as ever, keen to see who the next one they line up! ps. until otherwise, I will stick that he will now pass the poison challis to the next ceo who I would have will be picked to drive through the Avondale $ALE..

A nice enough bloke and very approachable but as far as sorting out track issues, ye gods, no. But as the COO he does look very likely.

Gammalite
Just saw Sharrock for the first time on Facebook. He wanted to go back to the famous Rugby, Racing and Beer days. There in lies the problem. In modern times Rugby League , Racing cars, and Wine are more popular (with the very best of the players, drivers and drink) making a Huge impression on the International stage. and very sadly 'Pokies' had a huge impact on people's NZ racing involvement too. The answer is to get people back interested in 'Racing' with Quality horses that are still being bred in NZ and compete on the International stage (to keep a high profile) Te Akau are a force in doing this , and have kept NZ racing to the fore with Melody Belle and Imperatriz , etc recent years with lots of shareholders . Gai Waterhouse racing does this on a big scale in Sydney for example quite successfully. gets a LOT of people involved that otherwise wouldn't Be. So ALL is NOT LOST yet . NZ has had some good racing lately, but a lot of Bad publicity from all the scraped meetings. a financial and critical disaster. So isn't ELLERSLIE nearly fixed now ? surely when a WORLD Class venue is in action , Like All the other countries have. People will roll in for a look and a piece of the action. No need for the Rugby or the Beer Mr Sharrock. Get a Wine Drinking (NZ Warriors supporting) racing CEO , and all will be well .😎💰

In terms of player participation, it is a very tiny sport. To get people interested back in racing we need to move away from advertising which shows Posers and A Listers all glammed up holding onto wine glasses. For Saturday at Hastings they are running a phantom meeting. There will be very little betting from a crowd which will be mainly young people who will be there to get munted. The Hawkes Bay Racing Club have their money so are happy and will do nothing to encourage these people to bet. Ellerslie, Trentham, Riccarton etc. are no different.

Doomed
It would be a thankless task to take over as the CEO of NZTR at this stage. There has already been so much sunken cost, in the broader sense, put into "the way forward". They appear to be totally unwilling to admit that they ever got anything wrong. I have no idea what a new CEO could hope to achieve. It appears he (she?) would have little support for redistributing stakes money, shuffling the list of "favoured tracks", or revising several other policies that appear to be firmly locked in. Not for a kick arse CEO. Could only make things better and lots of dosh sloshing around to do it.
