She's trying to teach it to get to the line, what the whip means, and to make sure she got something out of the gallop when there was nothing to push her which there may be next time. That means the first 600m was run in 35 and a tick. So essentially Pivotal Ten ran even near 12's for the race. Why was the Southland Guineas dropped back to 1400m from 1600m this year? Quote

Southland and Wingatui have swapped this year. Last year Otago went first with a 1,500m guineas followed by Southland at 1,600m. This year Southland 1,400m followed by Otago at 1,600m. Chief Stipe Posted February 18 Posted February 18 Here is Steve Hunt's Analysis of the Southland Guineas: Pivotal Ten landed on a 97 rating. The clock backed up the visual, great sustained speed. The last 200m sectionals, Pivotal Ten was very slow at the end, but more than understandable given the prior speed she showed. That doesn't detract from the performance or rating, but more so offers an indicator that she will need to be rated a little more efficiently if she's a chance to run 1500m near that rating level. If a little slow into stride like her last two and she's then revved up to find a position somewhere up near the lead, that can make it a little more difficult to switch off and relax well enough to run a strong 1500m. At the same time, I'd be snapping her up if I had a Kiwi slot yet to be filled. 2 Quote

They use the flank rope to get those Bronco's Bucking , yet you can tighten a girth strap and horse doesn't care. You've worked with horses plenty and know the flank is a very sensitive area? you're being quite 'Insensitive' if you can't recognise that obvious fact lol 😆 🤣 ..there a bit of thinner tissue between the hind quarter and Abdomen. Ears are another quite sensitive spot. some of the sensitive buggers hate having the earplugs jammed in. there's a bit of technique to it. 2 Quote

Brendan Lindsay said in an interview that the slot race is exciting because the winner could come from Hokitika so, if the Wynne/Wightman charge makes the field and performs well it should be the dream result for everyone involved. 1 Quote

What has been its quickest sectional in any race? Including that one. As for being "on the bridle" it was slowing down and had to be whipped twice to be "ridden through the line". They weren't taps or for "training purposes". Quote
