Some big noms in some races yet starting limit for some is 10, why's that ?

Gender neutral race day. Policy dictates Gender Neutral races can only have 10 starters.

I guess that's what you get if you thrash the track to help Riccarton out.

The theory seems to be that in our brave new world SI racing can basically survive through the winter months with the AWT and Ashburton, with the Riccarton turf popping up every now and again if really necessary. Obviously the trainers weren't consulted about this theory. If they were consulted it would be interesting to hear what they think of the idea now.

Ellerslie are doing the same with Pukekohe when Ellerslie has the "best all weather synthetic track" in the country.

The irony of Ellerslie having the winter off while Wingatui keeps going. I bet some old-timers wouldn't believe you if they were told that is the way we do it these days. Climate change must be about to take effect.

Imagine how frustrating it must be for Southern trainers having to travel and then turning around and going home without even racing, spend all that time and cost for nought.

Why just single out "Southern Trainers"?  Been any number of abandonments at BIG meetings in the North Island this season. Hawkes Bay and Te Rapa come to mind.  For reasons not directly related to weather either!

Not many of them have travelled all the way from Southland to Canty in the middle of winter. And northern trainers know there will be another race-meeting along in a few days and generally NZTR will put on extra races for them. No such luck in the South.

I'm over this whining.  Why isn't everyone on the phone telling NZTR what they want?  Besides the weather being absolute shyte (worse to come which is normal) can't all these trainers speak to each other and TELL NZTR what they want?

Of that doesn’t happen then post all the correspondence online and have a real gripe.

Personally I'm really really over Trainers and Owners that don't organise themselves and nail the decision makers.

Reminds me of a body corporate - the all have the same problem but can't agree on how to fix it!

As a matter of interest, which department, and with whom would you personally start?

You can’t plan the weather, is what it is. But it was wet before first race, forecast was for rain all day, so any dumb arse would know it would get worse, so cancel meeting early on…. then it won’t piss off so many involved
