Exporting A Greyhound...

Interesting read...

Aussie examples - max fines & stiff sentences

NZ example - wet bus ticket, even though a future board member, at the time of export, played a supporting role...

That's justice in typical kiwi fashion!

Hmmmn..wondering what your dealings were with Geoff Bate (Auckland),that would lead you to make such a comment.

Personally,in my  dealings with Geoff,he was nothing but honourable.

I might be wrong but I assume he thinks G Bates is Graeme Bates. Honest mistake

Another honest mistake BitofaLegend, but Geoff hates it when people spell his surname wrong ending with an  'S'.

I remember many years ago,Geoff sponsored a Race at Cambridge via Pete Henley, and in Racebook his name was spelt wrong. The following year, when Cambridge sought re-sponsorship,Geoff obliged on proviso they spelt his name correctly, and low and behold, spelt Bates again!

Another wet bus ticket handed down.

http://www.jca.org.nz/non-race-day-hearings/non-raceday-inquiry-riu-v-j-mccook-penalty-decision-dated-27-february-2019-chair-mr-r-mckenzie

[24] Weighing up all relevant factors, including the high-end consequences of the breach and, against that, the mitigating factors referred to in paragraph [21] above, the Committee has determined that an appropriate penalty is a fine of $1,000.

Huh?

High end?

The JCA must be severely underpaid & living in poverty, if they believe $1K is a "high-end" fine under the welfare code....

So a trainer with as many dogs as McCook/Jopson has can’t even provide an adequate trailer for transporting their dogs without having to borrow an unwarranted one from another trainer? Makes you out wonder what other basics their dogs are lacking. And a pitiful fine like that makes it even less of a deterrent to act like a professional.

At the end of the day, the accident could have happened if the trailer was warranted or not.

That said...

$50(ish) for a trailer WOF?

$1000 fine.... I think the JCA is missing a zero (typo?)

Injuries to 5 greyhounds... $?

Death of one greyhound (after extensive treatment) … $?

More un-needed negative spotlight on the code ….$?

A BOAY member swore at some race day officials.... loss of licence & can't seem to get it back....

Another BOAY (I presume) sent a couple of "vocal" emails to RIU & GRNZ... loss of licence & can't seem to get it back....

What the hell is WRONG with this picture?

It's the same tactics time and time again. They do not care about welfare.

The riu and grnz are just trying to save face and anyone who is up in arms about it or actually worries about animal welfare ends up losing there license.

As for a fine? Is that a joke? A dog died in an unwarranted trailer that most likely would not have passed the test. Yet another animal welfare issue where the ball has been dropped.

Once again you pricks who can't even put you name, attack a trainer who has had a very unfortunate accident.  I know this trailer and have used it in the past myself. Looks a good reliable trailer. As Janine said she thought it had wof as it was registered and this could of still happen if it had wof or not. If your not decent enough to put you name to you post, don't bother with personal attacks.  Janine goes over and beyond to make sure her dogs are well looked after, and this has been gutting for her.  So why the need to kick someone when they already down.

Because they have nothing better to do thats why!!!!! This site continues to allow personal attacks and unfounded shit be said. People need to grow a pair and put their name to their posts

As an aside, how long have stewards been checking vans and trailers for WOF, I presume they must check for rego as well? Didn’t know this was a thing they did.

Ironic, I've noticed that "Goldstar" doesn't put his or her name on their posts.

Charles would like to know how the re-training of Goldstar Hudson is coming along.

Now I can see why you don't put your name on your posts.

Is the RIU aware you've used this unwarranted trailer?

Are the police aware?

Maybe you should turn yourself in & accept your very own wet bus ticket.

Sounds like an excuse to me. A bad one. How does one forget or not know when there trailer is needing a new warrant?

The facts are simple here: the trailer was illegally on the road without a warrant and dogs died due to the trailer being unfit. We obviously have very different outlooks on what over and beyond for animal welfare is

Considering the trailer structure is checked when going through a warrant. I have no doubt this would have been picked up if it went in for a warrant. This is complete negligence and highlights why unwarranted vehicles are dangerous. I hope the riu pick up their game in this retrospect to ensure every trailer and vehicle has an up to date warranty to ensure every step has been taken to keep the animal safe

I dont comment on these forums anymore. For obvious reasons.

But here we go,

Do any of you know the trailer?

Have any of you seen the trailer?

do any of you know what happened to the trailer?

whether warranted or not, and Janine put her hands up straight away when we found out it wasnt, this still would have happened.

It was a freak accident. Engineers have been over the trailer and all of them said the issue would not have been picked up on a warrant.

There was no rust or any apparant issue to cause the drawbar to snap.

The trailer is at our place, feel free to come have a look for yourselves. Just give me a call to organise a time.

But none of you will want to do that as you will need to make yourself known, easier to sit behind a big keyboard!

Lets see the line of people wanting to view!!!! It would mean them having to get their hand out of their pants and remove themselves from their sticky sweat stained seats to do so. I know first hand how much the whole Rockwood Lodge  team love their dogs and how much this has affected everyone and i am pissed off at the suggestion the dogs dont have basic needs looked after!!!! Get a life keyboard warriors

I can't speak for others but I can speak for myself.

I haven't had a go at Janine. I have nothing but respect for her & have heard from very reliable sources that she is a wonderful woman.

It very well may have been a freak accident, they happen.

My concern is in the way the JCA decided the case & handed down it's verdict.

Fact - Trailer wasn't warranted

Fact - The need for a rego & WOF are clear within the welfare code.

Fact (so we're told) - Welfare is paramount.

Fact - JCA admitted this was at the high-end of the breach.

Fact - The JCA handed down a wet bus ticket as a penalty.

Hopefully the JCA will be hearing another welfare case revolving around the Coles soon. From what I have heard, in that case no Greyhounds were injured or killed. It appears that a Bison Frieze & a rabbit were likely killed. Since no greyhounds were injured/killed, no crown laws (other than the welfare side of things) were breached, can we expect that the Coles case penalty, if found guilty, will ultimately end with a less than $1K fine?

Welfare is paramount, unless it doesn't fit conveniently into the case before us.

Really?

FACT.Your full of it.

Unfortunately hes not full of shit , photos clearly show if not live baiting dead baiting which is against the rules and i think you will find its greyhounds australasia waiting to lay dead baiting charges if the live baiting fails , your a sad person if you want to have a blind eye to cheating , one of your country's greatest athletes openly said when the Belarus cheating athlete got cought cheating , even though she was a friend she no longer is because she was a cheat , exactly the same with cole he dead baited and is a cheat , no doubt in it.
