@Pete Lane just a correction.  The last time I ran for Parliament was in 1984.  I stood for National not United Future.  Actually I wouldn't be surprised if more racing people Party voted ACT as it is the only party with a policy of disestablishing the Minister of Racing and respecting the property rights of Clubs.

@Maximus - Steve if you dig around the website particularly here https://www.myelectorate.co.nz/candidates you will find that there are many many candidates from nearly all Party's that haven't filled out the questionaire.  Using your journalist and Editor skills I'm sure you could find out why.

I'm not sure many people really understand how MMP works.  No one is under any illusions that for any minor party candidate (outside the encumbents) to make it into Parliament there would have to be an incredible swing towards that Party.  The highest number of MP's that ACT has had in Parliament was in 2023 - two electorate MP's (Epsom and Tamaki) and nine from the list for a total of 11.  Two of those 11 are standing down - Brooke van Velden in Tamaki and Matt Cameron as a list MP.  Paul Henry is likely to take Cameron's place on the list.

Obviously sitting MP's on the list are at an advantage - they have done at least 1 or 2 terms in Parliament.  In reality if the Party vote for ACT doesn't increase then there is only 1 position on the list vacant.  But regardless at the end of the day if you want a strong right of centre Government (i.e. not the rag tag lot from the Left) then Party Vote ACT is the way to go.

I see @nomates aka Bob Scott has called me out as arrogant for suggesting that not many people really understand MMP.  Well I stand by that statement.  Yes people know they have an Electorate vote and a Party vote but how that translates to seats in Parliament does confuse people.  I have been surprised by the number of people from all walks of life that ask basic questions about MMP.

For example the tactical voting that occurs on an electorate by electorate basis.  Why does ACT focus on Party Vote for every electorate except Tamaki and Epsom?  Why is Te Patiti Maori saying vote Maori Seat electorate vote only?  What is an overhang?  How does that translate into seats?  For example theoretically we could have a Parliament of 142+ seats due to an overhang.

Btw, not to be pedantic, but was your candidacy not announced in June? It suddenly seems like it was just last week.

About second week of July.

How many rivals Chief ?

Hope not a Melbourne Cup size field ?  lol. Although the great VERRY ELLEEGANT strode to victory in the Cup 🏆 , after winning her maiden up your way . Ruakaka.  One of our all time favourites she was Chief.

The Mrs got the Trifecta in that so was very happy with me , with the QLDer running 2nd.

How Elleegant are you feeling this year ? 😉

I see the Dog has developed a short memory to suit his pathetic drivel

I can distinctly recall the torrent of online abuse over an extended period of time that CS got from him and Molloy when he was managing Race  Cafe.

One of the reasons he went off and started BOAY

HYPOCRITE

I second that. When Molloy was going to run for Mayor several thousand of Molloy's postings were removed by rac cafe in one swoop. Molloy first started posting over 20 years ago  I don't think he understood what internet forums were for. His mantra was find dirt on someone and post it be it true or false. From that point very naive. Subsequently laws were passed that clearly showed years of offending based on the new laws hence the removal which should have been done at the time of actual posting. He was banned from racing for abusive postings.

Even afterwards the Grace Millane posts brought about contempt of court convictions. It just showed the cowardice by moderators to confront Molloy given his ability to draw in large volumes of internet traffic.

Meanwhile you continue to predict the next Great Flood.

Cos it’s worth putting in the effort. Better volume in Kalshi climate markets than there is for Ruakaka races tomorrow

I thought you were chasing value?  You've said many times or inferred that volume doesn't matter even if you can't get $10k on the better Betfair odds!
