Happy Sunrise
The club must be rapt with this field. Just to have 11 in the field is an achievement. Plus, it is the first time U May Cullect hits the big time. Going to be worth a watch.
Rusty
3.39pm Sunday. Should be a good race, especially if they all step cleanly. Pity UMC drew barrier one. It can sometimes be a disadvantage for the "standing" start.

Just rush the tapes, delay the start, walk around again, make them hurry and get a running start ? 1

Rusty
And if some dumbarse starter's assistant is hanging on to the bridle at the start tell them to .... off!

Happy Sunrise
I think a few will find out where they stand on Sunday. Classie B, AG's and maybe, to a much lesser extent, UMC. Probably a trial for Franco Santino's aspirations to be in the Cup too.
Dougie
Really hope UMC steps and leads and be interesting to see if she hands up to Nathan or the Purdon 3. Faster trot is a great field too, Oscar Bonavena off the front should win but small field will assist the 3 off 30m.
Happy Sunrise
I think it is great for the club to have the All Stars in quite a few races too. It will lift the intensity of the racing and be a boon for watchers. They might even get a decent crowd. Dougie, I think Oscar B is the biggest certainty of the year off the FRONT lol $1.10FF? They will never catch him.

Maybe from when Franco Ledger bet Franco Emirate
the galah
The hannon looks a dead set all stars trifecta to me. They simply are better than the rest.Only way that doesn't happen is if they break at start. Spankem looks a good thing.

The grandstand at Ommers would erupt!
Flagship uberalles
Unless UMC is one out of the draw (and I really hope he is) I think we will see the same old lead trail all stars control the race....but hope I'm proven wrong.

Frankly i hope they decide to sit off the pace with UMC. I would love to see the after burners go on in the last 200 because after watching his races so far he will look like a Bugatti Chiron. The pace of this horse is something to behold . The AS are going to have to negate his speed somehow, and thats why sitting just off the pace (if poss) gives him a good chance of running past them. You wouldnt want to lead from there, the AS will attack you all day. Harness needs a new kid on the block , I hope this horse blitzes them . 2

Only thing I'll add is obviously most, if not all of these horses will not be screwed down 100%. And to be fair, UMC is still learning the game. I just hope he gets away well on Sunday, goes a good race and comes through it ok. Would almost be inclined to keep a bit up the sleeve and just run him in behind and act as a glorified trial. Step it up a notch at Ashburton in the Flying Stakes, then let rip in the Cup. Just a pity he doesn't have a couple of stablemates to assist with some team driving!

Think he probably need top 4 finish Oamaru or Ashburton to make cup field, although I haven't checked his ranking

eljay
Maybe - or Thefixer or Ashley Locaz.
eljay
UMC will make the cup field - the Met will make sure of that being a "Hype" horse. He presently 19 so not far to go up the list to make it.
Rusty
Rankings have meant nothing in the past. Any horse that has paid up gets in. The club seems adamant that 15 horses start in the event, regardless of their actual rating (eg 97 or 103 etc). It could be argued some horses shouldn't even be in the Cup field. A far cry from the old days, when horses needed to be bonafide open class horses to be eligible for a start. 1
Rusty
Actually, come to think of it, that is probably the reason why the club introduced the rankings system. Knew they couldn't get 15 genuine open class horses to make up the field, so they call upon a ranking system. That and another try hard effort to copy the Victoria Racing Club with their cup.
