Melbourne cup is looking good surely I may be wrong but i don't think the Cup is on the radar?. All the talk from what i've read is for the connections to target the Arc and from what i did read if that's too happen she may not have that many more starts this campaign. I love the horse, been a fan from day 1 and it was so good to see her fight to the line and get another Group 1.A deadset honey with a massive will to win.

Who ever would have thought the stallion Zed would have the impact he did. I remember sending 2 mares to him when his service fee was $500

Freda
I believe so....he and poor old St Reims swapped places at Erewhon Station...St Reims became ill [ pneumomia I heard ] and didn't survive very long.

Was it a horse called Survived? got the ball rolling for him along with a couple of other handy horses.
Chief Stipe
Definitely an upgrader type of sire given the mares he served for less than $500.

I've mentioned it before but one has to wonder how smart some yearling buyers are. The full brother to VE sold for only $140,000 to Bob Peters WA. A magnificent type now a 2yo I keep looking to see if its trialing but haven't seen it. The word however is that its a very good horse but no Verry Eleegant. SLB2.0
She isn't a M Cup horse. The extra 800m from 2400 flattens horses with a good turn-of-foot. Brillant horses win the Cox Plate/QEII - 4000m horses win the Cup.

Verry Elleegant was really unlucky in last years Cup. 19th at the 800m, 16th at the 400m, 12th at the 200m and finished 7th less than 4 lengths from the winner. She ran the fastest last 600m at 34.89. 200m sectionals of 11.45, 11.52 and 11.92. Watch the last 600m. She ran further than every other horse and had to barge out to get a run. Chief Stipe
Can anyone think of another horse in recent years that has won Grp 1 races at 1400m, 1600m, 2000m and 2400m? Against some of the best international grade horses? I have no doubt that she could have won the 2020 Melbourne Cup with a better draw and/or a better run in the race. Her last 600m was phenomenal. Snap, very very good horse in the early 90s. won group 1s from 12 to 2400. Whilst her big wins were in NZ, she won a group 3 mile in Australia, and had a couple of placings in some group 1s over there, Aus never saw the best of her. But perhaps the most versatile mare in my recollection. Was a boom 2 year old, ran them ragged. Then could win the oaks, and come back and win further races over sprints to the mile.
