NZ Cup & Dominion Lead up races - Road to the Cup

To get back to topic thought Id do a quick update on Road to Cup.

An interview on radio Senz, Green told Guerin that Copy That will race once only in North next week Spring Cup as long as it gets off the ground, then head South. Approx 4 other Northern hopes have already ventured South & are lining up this week.

Purdon was also interviewed & said that Self Assured is big & round lol going into race this week, but with 2-3 runs under his belt prior Cup by Cup should be screwed down.

Majestic Man is back in the trot as is Sundees Son. So some nice re-matches coming up, as Majestic Man gets a 10 metre advantage.

Who wins the Canty Classic tonight? Gamms you like these races to bet on, who you think? Or anyone?

Self Assured fav even tho an article out today HRNZ saying he's bigger/rounder than normal only 85-90% fit at best & he will be driving him conservatively not looking to mid-race move looking for lead.

Thought this sentence was funny. And shows an example of Guerin speaking his opinion more. "Gifted the front".

"But if and when South Coast Arden moves he is gifted the front, again that seems unlikely, then the dynamic of the race changes enormously".

Surely no driver would hand the lead up to South Coast Arden ...

@Brodie we have a separate section for the Covid-19 subject.

Stop hijacking threads.  I'll move these posts to the appropriate forum.

As for graphene oxide who are the scientists?  It is more likely to be iron oxide or a type of magnetite.

However you miss the elephant in the room by ignoring the two named nano lipids that have not had pharmcokinetic testing.

So last post on this Topic in this Topic.

Cool thanks Chief you are a star. We had our fun yesterday with Covid chat on this thread. BUT today is a BIG for the connections of these horses. To see how they go. Only approx 5 weeks til the BIG DANCE.

Wonder if Pembroke Playboy will be driven more aggressively after his last race held up ... ?

Gamms might have some selections for us, or maybe Mikey NZ or Honest John. Or maybe even Enteebee might give us an update on how Majestic Man is and how they hope he will go today ?

Great overall card on at Addington tonight. Will Darling Me show that terrific sprint again or was that just a ONCE off ... ?

SELF ASSURED is one of the best horses I've ever seen .

Memory refresher >>>>>>>>
He won this race last year easily,  then had good seconds to Spankem and CopyThat at Methven and Ashburton (2 Fab horses)  and then Won the NZ CUP very easily by 3 lengths cruising,  in 3.55 for the 2 miles . He'll win the Cup again this year !!!!

He won 4 out of 4 as a young horse in Brisbane , beating Australia's best LOCHINVAR ART very easily.

Tonight $2.40 odds on Sportsbet here seems very generous?? , with No Spankem or CopyThat around.

I've been backing Self Assured  at 9-1 for the Interdominion late in year for some time already, so hope he goes over ok. !!!!!!

King of Swing is Fav for that but reckon Mark will cruise on by KOS up the Menangle straight, when the whips are cracking !!

It would be so cool if we could talk about tonights racing on this thread! Racing starts soon! Im looking forward to it

What a great nights racing in store for all. hope the crowd can still attend.

Shame with STYLISH MEMPHIS being scratched as she has won Group 1 's in Australia . The NSW Oaks last year when steered by the exquisite Mark Purdon and the Ladyship mile group 1 driven by Jack Trainor of all people. !!!!

With the Victoria Oaks heats run this week , the last years race went to Dr SUSAN from Nz , with Stylish Memphis 2nd.

Question : What happened to Dr Susan ? does anyone know?

Mark Jones is some sort of trainer alright , has the 2 year old MAJOR MEMPHIS in the last from the outside gate. ! still might win.

and take a look at DENY EVERYTHING (from the pole in the 2nd last race ) back after a year or 2 off with 2 wins !!! well done Mark.

Question 2 : Why doesn't Mark JONES have heaps of horses and runners.? He is A+ standard? although not sure why PLUTONIUM LADY can't seem to hold her form , when looking quite dashing on occasion.

Good luck to all having a Punt !!!!  (not expecting Nat to run down Marky boy in the big race lol.........)

And what a brilliant and Well Deserved Win to SOD"S LAW in the first race just now. !!!!!!!!!!

This horse tipped by a few on BOAY at times, and No 'Walk in the Park' either ?? The driver drove an Anthony Butt type of race to win it from the one alley and in traffic in that big field !!!  Tremendous exhibition of driving and trotting in that race. great stuff.!!!!

crikey the FIRST4 paid $10,000 neat on sportsbet too. (Sheree driving a very good race too on the outsider)

Looks like Dr Susan was exported back to NZ Dec 2020. No trainer up in NZ & doesn’t say yet she has been served. Owner is Mrs Dalgety.

On the latest Boxseat interview Jones was interviewed & said Pluto Lady is a horse in that needs things to go her way.

And said that Stylish M had a foot abscess.

Agree with Self A best horse in field. However not at peak fitness. So think gives others a chance to win if a horse like Pembroke P gets a good run, then has a chance.

A few are good stand starters too e.g. Classie B, Pembrook P & Robyns Playboy. Will it be foot down at the start to see who can get to the front?

Yes, the horse is going well and seemed a certainty in that race given draw and class of horse he was facing. The dairy farming Geddes family usually have a good horse. I have made money of this horse lately but didn't back it tonight as too short. I guess $3.50 for a win is good money for a sure cert though!

The NZ Cup is less than 6 weeks away.

Tonight we have a trotting lead up race as well as a pace lead up race.

Not long ago we had the Hannon Memorial as a lead in race.

Sundon Sun starts next up, against a nice field, with Majestic Man fresh back.

Later in nite last years Cup winner Self Assured starts back as is the fav, but his co-trainer has said he is not at peak fitness. Who will win tonight.

Those that are interested in posting about races & these lead up races, here is a thread.

Yes , took that one from your tip previously , Thank-you very muchly, and into multi with Allegra and Cranbourne too, so going along nicely . What did you think of Self Assured and Deny Everything ?

shame about the covid , they have actually REFUNDED 25% of the folks with tickets to the NRL final here in Brisbane on Sunday evening !!!! astonishing ! no wonder they are getting riots in the streets . (Melbourne mainly)

wonder what difference having 32,000 compared to 50,000 people in one place makes ???? lol......   fools they be .....

the Dunns to have massive year winning

Well bam like that. Quinella. Thought Chief of Staff was going to hold on, but pipped on the post by stable mate Sundee Son.

Tough run for MM who was parked.

They are on a winning march already & a good chance too with Classie B & Henry H in the main pace tonight.

I think the super lovely Natalie will win at least one group 1 race.

Yeah she is prob my Top Driver I rate her.

Be interesting in the Canty Classic if they hand to her or not tonight. She is on unruly, so would have to work mid-race. Will they have the nerve to park her or will they (whoever is leading) just hand up when she comes looking is the key question tonight.

Self Assured is a class above anything in the race but that doesn't mean he will win. He'll go close though! Sorry, Gamma don't know anything about Deny Everything but you can't fault its form. He has a good draw tonight but can he beat Darling Me?

Pembroke Playboy for mine.

Was desperately unlucky in the Hannon, dont think Self Assured or South Coast Arden will be at peak fitness for this week.

Self assured would of won if not for Kango stuffing him up . But Natalie is the gun tonight. !!! good pro-active drive on Pembrook Playboy to 'Try' and beat them . but you're on a hiding to nothing with Mark and Nat in the race !!! lol.

GREAT RACE.

Great drive by Williamson. Good man I was thinking holding lead. Gave his horse his best chance. Just pipped in the last couple of strides on Pembroke Playboy.

Wow great run by South Coast Arden. Fresh up too.

Cups open - who wins NZ CUP 2021

New favourite?
