What happened to your post regarding barking straps? So if he’s not fussed on the dogs why would he be in the game ? Another stupid comment made by yourself I’m thinking merv. You must remember he never started with as many dogs as he has now

Sorry brother not him

http://www.k9magazine.com/what-is-a-puppy-farmer/

"For some, the definition of a puppy farmer is not based on scale as much as what the motivation for breeding is; if a breeder’s main intent is profit, arguably they’re a puppy farmer."

"The poor dogs count for nothing, except money"

So anyone who breeds Greyhounds comes into this category? In this game every breeder wants their dog to make the race track ie win a race that they will profit from ? Hmmm all farmers here .thanks for clearing up my point

http://www.jca.org.nz/non-race-day-hearings/non-racedy-inquiry-riu-v-j-mcinerney-and-r-armstrong-written-decision-dated-31-august-2018

The trainer is fined $5000.

The trainer is to pay $5000 towards the RIU's costs.

The ongoing cost to the RIU" was at least $15,000" to investigate the death of the five dogs.

So the code collects $5000 (fine) plus $5000 costs = $10000. The code spent $15000.

In the end, the death of the five dogs cost the code $5K.

They consider that a deterrent..... Farce is the word that comes to my mind.....

The F'wits in power will never learn....

Maybe it's time for another lengthy wait from the SPCA... Hopefully they are now investigating....

Surely Newshub will have something to say about it.

Contenders for Nomination based awards are:

Love Our Dogs
Angela Washington
Ashley Bradshaw
Fatima Avdic
Georgie Milne
John McInerney
Karen Walsh

Why must you knock peoples achievements. Where is your name up for an award ? I would give it to Karen Walsh or Ashley Bradshaw

Is that some kind of sick joke by NZGRA? The fact they even put his name next to this early other nominees just reflects where their head is.....right up their ass.

I cannot believe he name is even remotely associated with hthe is award, it's like Hitler being nominated for a Nobel  Peace Prize for humanity work.

Does he rehome them?
If not, why would he be on the list
Some others there do.

Off course he does not rehome them, they go down the offal pit. They are farmers, not lovers of dogs. Look at the trained staff, [Ray Armstrong]. Comes off the Ferry at Picton, and does not stop once for water and empty out. Isn't even aware that most of the dogs in the van are dead. Only after arriving at Darfield is it apparent that most have died. These are the same people that line up 13 month baby Greyhounds at the races. Greed and cunning are their motivation. Always have been. Thats not to mention their serial drugging offences that this feral mob have inflicted on the industry. They are so selfish, they couldn't care less about the damage they have done, and continue to do so to the perception of Greyhound racing. They and their slimy counterpart up north will kill Greyhound racing quicker than any economic disaster that is looming over the entire NZ racing industry.

Top trainer fined after five greyhounds die during Cook Strait ferry crossing

A top trainer has been fined after five greyhounds, aged three to four years-old, died from heat and a lack of oxygen during a Cook Strait ferry crossing in January.

Greyhound trainer John McInerney was fined $5000 and ordered to pay costs of $6500, while his part-time employee Ray Armstrong was fined an additional $1000.

During the crossing from Wellington to Picton, six greyhounds were left in the back of a van for nearly four hours near the ferry's centre casing, which funnels hot air upwards from the engine room.

The only source of ventilation for the dogs was the driver and passenger windows, which were half down, and driver Mr Armstrong had not advised crew that he had animals in his van.

After the ferry crossing, Mr Armstrong made a "cursory check" in the dark at Picton and thought the dogs were sleeping.

He then travelled for 12 hours to Darfield and did not remove the dogs from the van or provide any water during this time.

On arrival, only one dog had survived the journey.

The Racing Investigation Unit concluded that the dogs died from a combined lack of oxygen and heat during the ferry passage.

The Judicial Control Authority for Racing (JCAR) found that Mr Armstrong made a number of negligent acts, including failing to ensure the greyhounds had adequate ventilation and were not at risk of overheating, leaving the dogs unaccompanied for four hours during the crossing, and failing to check them properly after the crossing.

JCAR found Mr McInerney had failed to adhere to the Code of Welfare and provide proper care, and said he is ultimately responsible for the greyhounds' welfare as their trainer.

"Mr Armstrong was employed and instructed by Mr McInerney. Mr McInerney failed to provide proper care for his greyhounds, by failing to provide sufficient instructions to Mr Armstrong to enable him to provide proper care for the greyhounds during the period the greyhounds were in his care," the Authority said.

The authority noted that Mr McInerney transported some 6000 dogs a year to race meetings in New Zealand over 30 years, and this was the first issue he'd had.

It also noted that he had alerted the authorities as soon as the deaths were made known to him.

Mr Armstrong said he regretted the loss of the five dogs, but thought they could have simply gone to sleep and not woken up.

Mr McInerney was fined $5000 and ordered to pay costs of $6500, while Mr Armstrong was fined $1000.

Well know one can tell me how they got nominated, but I'm sorry to be a hater who makes these people any more loving of their dogs than say a Pauline Blanche or Wendy Toomath or Neville Phillips or Henny Laagland or Alesha Waretini???

Oh because they are not attached to a multiple group 1 winning kennel or they're not pretty enough or they've not got a super strike rate thanks to a millionaire investor. So lame.

Out of those give it to Fatima! ?

Bit harsh to bring looks into it, who says the people you mentioned aren't pretty enough? Maybe put up a photo of yourself and we can judge what we think of you.
