  1. The trouble with the M report (in my opinion) is that it has the dirty grubby mits of NZTR and Alan Jackson written all over it. Rather sad and disappointing.
  2. I don’t think so, at least no more than us.
  3. If that is a serious question, then the answer is RED JESTER.
  4. It does not have a deep root structure to hold the tuff together. Irigation encourages its growth because the roots are right near the surface. By shaving the grass surface right back now, the hot sun will kill it and allow the rye grass to get better established. I didn’t know that the Riccarton track had poa in it, as I live in the NI and all I could see was what I saw on TV. Now I know why Riccarton chips out all the time. The track is the worst in the country for it. Its a combination of a hard pan underneath, poa and too much irrigation, pure and simple.
  5. False news and fair mongering, I believe If it’s not a taxable activity with the appropriate claims why would you have to pay a capital gains tax?
  6. Actually I thought that the track played really well. Exactly as I expected.
  7. Now you are talking. Trentham did their lateral drains about 9 years ago. At the time their soil was stuffed too, for the very same reason as Ellerslie’s is. For the next 4 or so years it appeared that the drains weren’t working. They were but it took all of that time for the soil to “recondition itself”. Now that their drains are working superbly and the soil is in much better condition Trentham has had an excellent surface to race on for at least the last three years. Even when it is rain effected, ie soft it doesn’t fly to pieces as all other tracks do, especially Riccarton Even your mate Leo has come around to agreeing. LOL
  8. I think you are dreaming. What crap you write.
  9. Chief Stipe, how do you recondition soil? I though that they did a drainage job, not a patch job!
  10. Of course not, because Ellerslie hasn’t been rebuilt like Flemington was. However the work done and the spell the track got, should see it perform better than anytime in the last 10 years in the same circumstances.
  11. Approximately 24mm from 2:00am to 4:00pm! That will test the new track and drainage for sure. Acually, I expect to to perform well. I guess we will have to wait and see. Beau
  12. How can you say that Johnson had little desire to win! That’s the most stupid statement I have heard. If you said that the Warriors in general often appeared to have little desire to win then I would agree given the number of times they have been beaten after often leading by a good margin.
  13. No words describe what I think of Cameron George and what he did to NZ Racing and now the Warriors.
  14. As I write this there’s been 10,001 postings in Galloping Chat. Quite a milestone really. Beau

  15. If they had gone a proper gallop instead of a walk (in my opinion) Leo’s horse probably would have won. What’s the bet the connections buy themselves a cheap pacemaker soon. Now that’s opened up a can of worms, a pacemaker in NZ!
  16. Leo to win. I can feel it in my water. ?
  17. Roger (the dodger) James says it the most. Always very eloquently though.
  18. You set impossible tasks!! LOL
  19. I seriously dislike, “yes no” in answer to all questions.
  20. I believe Glyn Tucker first used the word “penultimate” in racing, way back when racing was on TV 1. Last century it was, from memory.
  21. The two best tracks in the country played pretty well today from what I could see. One was hit with continuous Iight/medium rain yet it made no discernible difference. Anyone at either venue prepared to comment further, agree or disagree?
  22. One is as bad as the other, hopelessness of the highest level.
  23. When I first started out owning horses (70’s) we always got given tickets to the official Club luncheon. The CJC ones were an excellent occasion too. I don’t remember when it stopped! Does anyone?
  24. Saturday is her (Winx) Waterloo. I would love it to be the Pitman, Coupland, Bruford, Johnson team, but in my opinion it will be Benbatl. I hope that that the mare (Savy Coup) runs out of her skin and does all of us (NZ) proud. For the record I have backed Benbatl at 12’s and 2.50 so I am happy. It’s a great each way bet. Closer to the day I will have a nice touch for a place on Savy Coup. Should Winx win I will shed a tear, but if she gets beat and my horse wins it will be a mixture of happiness and sadness, with a little bit of satisfaction that I got it right against the odds on offer. Isn’t that what the betting game is all about? Horse against horse? Opinion against opinion?
  25. So they should....It’s Labour Day?
