  1. Choose my reply... A) But the All-Stars always 'get' good barrier draws. B) But team driving will overcome the barrier draws C) But the stable will have them 'right' on the day so the barrier draw is not object. D) But David McCarthy will write an article saying all win so they must. E) All of the above. Just joking. Relax.
  2. ? If it had anything to do with the All-Stars, Brodie's odds would tighter than the first bend at Roxburgh.....
  3. In a foot race?
  4. Dogged ones too!
  5. You are a rare diamond Brodster....principles before monetary gain ?
  6. What do you think? Odds of over 8 to 1. Just a mix of the Oaks and Jewels.
  7. How dare you say that about my beloved Forbury! ? A Raphoe win is a win anywhere...immortalised for all time! lol
  8. Now it has flipped to the reverse. I blink when I see a 1 win trotter who has only started in a couple of races suddenly being thrown in against horses who have been around for ages and won several races. You can just about put a pen through them as they have no chance. I want these trainers to put a solution up in the media, forget about the normal channels, just get it out there for all to debate.
  9. Boom. The industry doesn't need any more negative press so they won't go searching, that is for sure.
  10. That is a very valid question.
  11. Who would have ever thought economics rules over everything else! lol And maybe the views of the 'chief executive' echo what some of us say about the domination of a certain stable as they have short-priced favourites all the time in our biggest betting races as being detrimental to the industry. HOWEVER, I tend to see myself as a supporter of the trainers' views about the state of the system and its negative effects on certain types of horses. I just think the arguments that have been had on here and formerly RC just go to show how polarising this can all be but essentially everyone is kind of right in their own way. All that is needed is a solution. I want to see one put forward by these trainers! They must have good ideas to address it.
  12. There are a lot of frightening statements in that article that should send shivers down the spine of officials.
  13. And the solution is........<drum roll> ?
  14. I thought so. These numbers never seem to make the news anymore anyway. I remembered when they seemed to be in the news a bit but seemed to have disappeared. and here is the previous week too. Geez HTP, one might think you are presenting results as you see fit to use against a particular stable. However, I know you are not like that so will say nothing further. The Fixer is there, from the previous week, way down the list. You will be able to sleep easy now.
  15. The rating bands just don't seem to create the same rivalries like they used to. I miss a good C5 to C6 pace but that is my memory playing nostalgic tricks with me...now we have ex NZ Cup winners racing two win horses lol.....oh lordy
  16. I really liked Rolls Hanover. I liked Sossy. And had a soft spot for Frangelico being a girl among that lot. It is crying shame the videos of these races are not available. I am tempted to go rummaging around and find the cassette videos that lurk in my house somewhere. They used to produce yearly reviews of Australasian racing if I remember right. I have one or two somewhere.
  17. Come to think of it you probably broke the rule to get punished.....lol
  18. Did they have a no whip rule at this gathering?
  19. My knowledge of this is extremely limited but those numbers are quite low are they not? and do these numbers actually mean anything worthwhile?
  20. Indeed. Tis exciting and not the usual scripted 2 and 3-year-old superstar stuff that we get every single year that has become so mundane. I haven't' been so excited since.....Happy Sunrise marched through the grades...?
  21. I am not sure it was a poor drive. Got stuck wide early (you can't have everything go your own way) and then made the lead and wasn't savaged or anything. I just don't think the horse is in the zone. Not unusual with trotters.
  22. They won't be able to sleep because of the success they have. You wonder if they ever get any sleep at all.....
  23. That is an upset. ?
  24. They should bring in others when in Auckland or Chch to bounce off so they don't get stale. They should have CP or Matt in on big nights to create variety and take the attention off them.....oh, maybe that is the issue lol oops...I missed the Taylor Mile! Who won? Which stable? Who ran second?
  25. Very true. Both are first rate. In this day and age of over the top sensationalist reporting and commentary, they are a breath of fresh air too.
