  1. It would be good if the TAB put out turnover figures for each and every meeting. Maybe the lack of hotpots in many races helped turnover on Tuesday. Who knows.
  2. Rangatira exercising his chieftainship.
  3. No red herring hear. ?
  4. Awesome Impee to upset some better horses for a place at 5.50ff in the first.
  5. Pearls again. Must be the word of the day.
  6. and nary a word of protestation from jj about the use of Hunt the Punt! Wonder why. ?
  7. The 'screamer' Matt Cross? The lad is 26, first Cup, in front of thousands, getting his first real go at consistent calling and he gets called that! He is adding a bit of drama to the day in front of non racing fans for goodness sake. Hell, if he were my son and he did that yesterday at that tender age with the amount of experience he has I would be so proud. And I might add, I would tell anyone who called him a screamer to simply 'fuck off' PS I think it was the greatest driver in the land. Which is pretty much true at the moment.
  8. I thought you said Brodie was interesting and non sterile? At least, Brodie is consistent. Anyway, I enjoyed your presenting at Addington yesterday. I thought you did a great job.
  9. Broke even. Multis didn't pan out as I went that way. Jawbreaker buggered me otherwise it would have been much better. I don't know which way to look on Cup Day...call me Mick G!
  10. I think he only knows the top horses and generally has little idea outside the big days of racing. He seems to spread himself far and wide (fair dues to him as harness is too small to be a real player) with trots, gallops and the aussie scene so there is no time to know all the horses. He would swot up for Cup day etc but deep down he wouldn't know the form. That is why I think he seemed reluctant to bet on every race which is the stance a serious punter would take but not what is required when you are presenting every race - especially as there is a winner to be found in every race if you have the time to look for it... I quite like him though, he has his punting beliefs eg marker pegs and is a face of harness and I don't know anyone else who would do it better so good on him.
  11. The temptation for your shadow will be too much!
  12. Spankem was mediocre and The Fixer was poor really. Chase Auckland and Classie Brigade did well. Odd experience to see Mark P and Nat R not winning but, as Brodie said, nice to see some raw enthusiasm after the race.
  13. Well, for one, they were going on about how the standing starts needs to be sorted so people have the confidence to bet and it is better for the industry and then he turns around and says he wouldn't be having a bet on some races and he only is because he was given a phantom $100. It is not about his betting ego today of all days, his main job is to drive up turnover is it not?
  14. You would think if you are presenting on Trackside on Cup Day that you would have an opinion on each race instead of saying 'it is not a betting race for me' Do better than that Mick G
  15. Brodie is back! .... and Rangatira has followed.
  16. Big tip tomorrow...the marker pegs.
  17. I had a good look at Destiny J, Woodstone and Didjabringthebeers for a place as I thought one of them might sneak a place due to those unknown factors you mention. My only concern with Destiny is her gate speed early and her record over the distance. She is in very good nick though and a placing wouldn't surprise.
  18. As Roman said.
  19. Identify Mark Purdon's best value X Natalie's best value and you might be onto a winner. One Change x Dream of Glory x Amazing Dream is 11.65. One of the Purdon runners paying 3s for the place will surely get a place. You can probably guess by the driver allocation.
  20. I actually mean what I said genuinely but you don't get that. You think it is a slight. I doubt the Dunn stable will have much of a day outside Heisenberg and maybe Above and Beyond. Sugar Loaf has a big ask on debut and at 2.90 is very very short. Woodstone a top 4 chance. Sundee's Son won't get around without breaking. Bonnie Highlander at 4.40 fresh up is no value. Nakuru at 9s is exceptionally short. As I said in the post when I was replying to Roman's comment, I think the All Stars punters have a real opportunity to win money at odds that are not seen often eg Richie's Aqua Sancta. Mark Purdon driving Spankem to win and Aqua Sancta to place is worth $7.98 for every dollar. Chuck in another Mark Purdon drive on Letterkenny Boy and you get $21.54. Does that not entice you?
  21. There are few paying a bit. Not quite the shorty odds domination of recent years which is nice. Enables those All Stars followers to make a killing mixing up a few place and win bets into a multi or two.
  22. Very interesting.
  23. A real sign of decline.
  24. Does anyone know if the FF place offer for selected races extends to multi bets or is it only straight out FF places bets?
  25. Woodstone at 5ff for the place, especially considering it only has to run 4th or better due to the TAB's offer. Same applies for Richie's Aqua Sancta. I might chuck in the 2.80ff for Chase Auckland too. Good on the TAB making things nicer for the punter.
