I will finish at the bottom of the leaderboard after that.
What a frantic race and boy were they spread out at the end. Looked like the West Coast on a wet and heavy track...
See Wandering Star is put out a $2 shot by the TAB after the horse has been leased by Brad Mowbray and a couple of others from Alistair Lowe.
In race 8, Jive has drawn well for Steven McRae and paying 3.10ff for the place (was 3.70) which is handy money for that horse. It may not be the best in the field but the others like Hands Up Jack and Ringo's A Star are awkwardly drawn. If Jive was to trail Bono Brown, the Graeme Anderson runner, it would go close to placing.
It was a big win by Chase Auckland yesterday that has put him firmly back in the frame for the NZ Cup. It showed he can do work and and still win.
He started pretty well from the stand but I wonder if connections should make him unruly from stands so come Cup time he will start with clear air around him. Yesterday he was pretty much on his own with not a whole heap of horses boxing him in, hence the clean getaway.
Would you sacrifice a few metres at the start to make sure he begins?
That is a pretty rough thing to say HTP. It is not like he is causing carnage out there.
Ben is out doing Mark Hurrell in the UDR.
The surprise looking at this table is the position of John Morrison. I had to screenshot his performance in separately. I still don't think even these figures are a true indication about young up and comers so sweeping generalisations are pretty damaging.
It is a tough old competition. Those races were very competitive and under the pressure of having to win to be at the top of the leader board it must be taxing if you are in to win.
No I didn't. Not worried in the slightest though.
Good to see him win. Nice drive where he got put in the race. The unruly horses were all walking in at the start which was required for him to begin well. He will still be hit and miss in the future but he could certainly win a few more.
Did you back it?
