  1. No. 7 - Titled I think you might have been the underbidder on it .? ;0
  2. Why worry about those cheap horses, there is one in at NP on Tuesday that cost $500k that's racing for a cool $10k (well 5k really but you get my drift)
  3. Where is this American Pharoah colt with more bigger wraps on it than DE xmas presents?
  4. An absolute legend of a sportsman, so happy to see him break the record. I think Tony Lee said his life would make a great movie...couldn't agree more!
  5. He sounds like a lot of others in the sport to be fair who can blame him. One of the few better senior riders riding outside of the cartels , so only go to strengthen their crushing grip on the sport. Only a few more days till they start telling everyone how great shape the industry is in look at the Ellerslie carnival, that usually lasts till about post Karaka sales.
  6. The point I was trying to make was someone who fronts Horse Welfare should have a lot of depth in their knowledge of the racehorse, someone like yourself perhaps. He most certainly does not, as polite as he is and I dont believe he has the indepth knowledge, industry & beyond relationships to appropriately perform to levels they are attempting to make out horse welfare matters to the industry.
  7. Youve lost me abit? But I get you understand that no one there has a clue about racehorses,a big problem obviously.
  8. Yep can't in reality work surely.
  9. The one thing NZTR are too stupid to recognise is : that there is a high correlation between horses performing to the best of their abilities and the level of care or welfare that is undertaken around them. That being one of the main drivers behind racehorses being so well taken care of.
  10. I'm glad others see it for the farce that it is. Of course its only a tick box exercise for NZTR , so its easy to tell everyone you've done something about it but very difficult when you don't know what that is or what needs to be done.
  11. Sounds exciting, hopefully its racking in the winners for ya.
  12. I see , well best of luck to them both with that.
  13. Hang so youre saying you'd compare two runners in the same race last start performances at different tracks based on time i.e. if one ran last start at Trentham and the other at Tauranga as an example and this strategy works for you on the punt?
  14. Thomass are you that silly that you compare times from different tracks?
  15. Yes one must try to be, but I've never seen the sport heading in the direction it is now. It used to be a sport that involved everyone including communities etc however now its heading in the complete opposite direction. I've only 2 more to go and I'm pulling the plug also , I fear many may feel the same way.
  16. I'm stunned so many in the industry believe BS is fixing it. Well perhaps not stunned after years in this industry perhaps I meant numbed.
  17. Some are too stupid to see it,there wont be racing in 75% of the places there are now in 3-5 years, wont make it any better though, sit back & watch.
  18. A good start would be to get the radio back on, but hey they have a model in mind and thats where its gonna end up, don't stress over it as it'll never get fixed if you like, there just aren't the right people in the right places and the pandering to the chosen few is only hastening the decline.
  19. Bernard has no idea full stop. Thats a very real problem with which our industry will live with the ramifications of for years to come.
  20. You can do all of that stuff when the industry revolves around you! I see an article where the twilights are popular,FFS if you cant get people to go to a piss up at this time of year something is wrong, expecting 6k to turn up in a city of 1.5m & celebrating it like its a win for the sport, when in reality the result has less meaning than country meetings robbed of their dates from an industry perspective,we have such low standards in NZ.
  21. and prioritising the racehorse including its welfare on raceday , the viewing of racing for the public and facilities for the horse. Not currently undertaken at many courses in NZ unfortunately, particularly the larger ones.
  22. Those running the industry will take the road of which they believe there to be least resistance, I think we all know what that is. However that does appear to be a shitfest in itself , so one can only hope they are found out for the charlatans they are. The industry can be saved , but those in positions of power are not willing to deliver a reality check to the industry and that changes needed would not please a lot of the bigger players. But either way the game has "honey I shrunk the industry" written all over it in some format.
  23. I loved this : we believe we have been very patient as the industry has worked through a period of change and the disruption caused by Covid-19 and the ensuing lockdown period, As CS has pointed they are already getting their percentages out of the starters fee now also, in some cases that's a $30 increase A bit rich given the state of the industry imo , not to mention the state of the jockey ranks! https://loveracing.nz/News/31839/Ridingfeeincreasesflagged.aspx
  24. I think the real point here is that we are going nowhere with the current leadership at NZTR. The sport is in a sad way.
  25. So in the meantime Riccarton is H&S exempt? You must work for NZTR!
