  1. Coming for their assets. Lets be clear its good for racing if your stationed from Te Awamutu upwards. I do hope other clubs get their houses in order or understand the legislation etc before the real theft takes place!
  2. NZ Racings approach - Build it and they will come! - Won't necessarily work.
  3. Part of the problem is that racing won't take a fair an un bias view of itself and put something together to better utilise its existing assets , instead it has extreme bias (as seen in the M report) and decisions being made that make no operational or financial sense for the future of the sport, particularly in the CD. i.e. if one venue doesn't work the idea is just to keep doing what youre doing at that venue or build an AWT that solves everyones problems apparently.
  4. Wouldn't the SI be better to try to put a deal together to get a Strathyr in rather than an AWT, like is being done in Auckland? Certainly sounds like the resources are there to at least take a look at it.
  5. No most clubs don't care , because they are subsidised by the booze/party both from a financial and performance perspective - that in itself is a problem.
  6. I'm not much of a drinker, but aren't boozers more likely to drink more and misbehave at an event termed R18?
  7. Interesting developments: 1: Ellerslie and Counties to merge forming Auckland Turf Club. Avondale will support but retain its autonomy and race on as AJC. 2: Ellerslie to install StrathAyr track, close for over a year 3: Avondale committee suggesting to members they stay as AJC but from 2026 track closed and they race at Ellerslie, as will Pukekohe. 4: Deloitte reports suggest with hugely increased assets Ellerslie can hold 40 meetings a year with 100k average stake in 5 years 5: New mega club and Avondale plan to run its three current $1million races but also 10 other races per season of at least $500k. 6: A hugely positive time for northern racing that a lot of people have worked delicately behind the scenes to make this happen
  8. Heard it all before, sit back and watch it all unfold!
  9. Of that I have no doubt. What will be funny to watch though is the massive noms for the few turf track meetings left after the AWT begin their destruction of local racing. The sport has sold its soul , there are bigger issues on the way , adequate staff being one of them and a lack of planning and assistance in that area from the governing body is coming home to roost in the industry.
  10. They are coming for the assets you can be sure of that. A similar approach went on with the race days, it's all been mapped out. You cannot trust them!
  11. lol youre probably right !
  12. No idea, has there been behavioural issues at Riccarton in the past the Police are focussed on?
  13. Really poor response , gonna be fun to watch it all unfold though . its not gonna be the beer and skittles you think it is!
  14. So certain people can get their horses ready to go across the Tasman, screw the rest!
  15. If its a Police direction then the club are partaking in something that is causing that direction to be taken, i.e. Booze up after booze up after booze up, so therein lies the problem. The club is more focused on the party than the racing , the basic problem with racing in NZ in general. In my experience most of the big clubs provide an less than average experience on race day for anyone who isn't there to get off their trolley.
  16. That's exactly what it is, the clubs and governing body have no idea how to present the product as being the main reason to go to the races and thus have to make it a booze fest. It's not a good look and its not good for the future of racing in this country, but it is the easy way out for the aforementioned.
  17. Don't they get put back into the winners distribution? The best thing they are currently doing at NZTR is paying out to 14th, probably the reason the field sizes have remained strong in volume.
  18. As with everything horses for courses.
  19. Looks like NZ racing is set for boom times indeed! One thing I don't get, wouldn't a horse feeling good be more likely to pull? This AWT must be magic! https://loveracing.nz/News/31567/CambridgePolytrackopenforbusiness.aspx
  20. No idea, junk racing at the best of time, let alone prime time Saturday. Never can understand why they don't stick to their knitting ...less is more!
  21. Kolding
  22. I don't think so, I presume thats the price given its Ballot and all, but usually with scratchings the FF price is reduced.
  23. and after scratchings comes into 6s lol
  24. Is this kind of pointless? - Wouldn't the winner of an Open handicap be highly likely to walk into a Wellington Cup field in NZ given the status of the sport in NZ/dearth of stayers/demotion of race status at the moment? - Is there that many horses that miss out on a start in the Wellington Cup at any rate? - Not to mention that NZTR have done their darnedest to kill Country racing and thus cups thinning out the pool for such a promo. https://loveracing.nz/OnHorseFiles/NRB Meeting News/Wellington Cup Ballot Exempt Country Cups.pdf
