Are we 5 or 6 meetings down now on the AWT? Anyone seen any figures? there must be some patterns emerging by now and these obviously positive betting patterns would be great to see with regards to convincing everyone about the need for a couple of more AWT surely? Be very interested also to see how these betting figures compare to those on the winter surfaces. -
I see Frequencies , hopefully its independent enough to have a point of view on things locally, though that doesn't look likely with BS showing his support for it.

I have the feeling once/if the Dargaville scenario has been completed we will see a huge go by the governing body for several assets within the industry. It certainly has to be part of the plan given the direct internal policies clearly put in place to destroy these assets. It's always amused me how leadership within the industry here are congratulated for shrinking the industry when they should be growing it. Once again I'd love to see a Strathyr but saying it and doing it are two different things in this industry.

Its interesting isn't it, obviously still a lot of water to go under the bridge before they get the track and stakes in place, but that hasn't stopped the usual lot celebrating it like its already happened. Personally I'd prefer to see a Strathyr where the horse population is , but I guess when it comes to NZracing anything is better than nothing.

Perhaps thats where NZTR come in. I guess if it is they get the amalgamation over the line first then start on the emotional blackmail with Avondale, you know calling them out for not wanting to be part of the future of nzracing etc etc.

It's that type of thinking Fairy Flash that has got us to where we are today i.e. only a few industry participants , owners clubs and their opinions matter and if they don't like it they can stuff off! I'm even of the opinion as silly as your opinions are you still have the right to have a say about it all.

But it works in Aus. and where just copy everything they do over there, so can't understand why it won't work here. There are horses for Ellerslie , just as there are horses for Reefton or Waverley they all find their mark.

I think you've hit the nail on the head there and I can't say I blame them. Only Fairy Flash would have confidence in NZTR at this point.

Do you honestly believe any other clubs barring about 5 or 6 in NZ joining together (in particular provincial clubs) would get given race dates or industry support for doing so? Absolutely no chance of that!

I can't help but see how a Strathyr is anything but good for racing in NZ , I certainly hope they get that far. But I struggle to see how its good for the rest of the country, having said that I think most of damage it may have caused is in motion as we speak at any rate. Also struggle to understand the point of the AWT if this Strathyr gets going. As for people calling it a merger well thats just a joke!

The industry day(s) would suffice for a club like this & many others of its ilk. Plenty would still support it and it's something in racing in NZ that has always worked. However under present leadership there is no chance of this for obvious reasons coming to fruition right before our eyes. What irks me most about these decisions is they are getting rid of something that really works for the industry & outside of funding has any real high degree of cost to the industry & replacing it with the same standardised fare that has proven to be very average.

I can't see how TAB cannot perform better than recent years, given the significant cost savings they have made in the past 12-18 months, my biggest concern still is NZTR lack of leadership, direction and self interest , no matter what the TAB does. -
Well I can see $500k thats going to waste straight away in that fund for innovative clubs charade, be better spent on lower end stakes or splitting fields or whatever gets the product out there, can't see any innovation from the clubs that are going to get it that would do anything to generate further wagering on the product and why do they need it in the first place when they have full time Marketing personnel / CEO and staff at a lot of these clubs?
