  1. This is a prime example of the ineptitude and incompetence prevalent within the industry. How long have they had to sort out a plan for racing to continue (like in Aus. should be able to do it ,they copy off everything else from there) whilst Level 4 existed ? They have absolutely no idea, I cannot believe the industry accepts this from its leadership. COVID never went away but they didn't bother in the slightest and putting something together that was inevitable. 2. Won't happen, current leadership have made that much damage to the industry already it can only go one way for the majority of participants, as I've already stated this deluded bunch have no idea of the interdependence within the racing industry.
  3. Absolutely and with the hours and work involved its not an attractive proposition for many let alone the next generation. I'm actually surprised at how quickly its demise seems to be taking shape, I thought it had a little more depth to it than what we are seeing at present. Wasn't the M Report & the venue plan etc supposed to resuscitate the industry and not put it in ICU? Absolute incompetents have been let loose in this industry over the years and unfortunately many of them still pervade it. But look on the bright side we've got 2 perhaps 3 AWTs which are serious gamebreakers for the industry or so I'm being told.
  4. Yes, just look to NZracing for many many examples of this.
  5. Agree,, not surprised how many have fallen for it though , there is little hope if you're depending on the majority of the population to wake up - it just wont happen.
  6. Exactly, rest assured we have a plan ... perhaps...maybe...I'm sure we do!
  7. Does NZracing have a plan? Could be a real kicker for local racing.
  8. The show Racing Tales I think it was called was a good listen on Sunday morning,Gerard Fell i think it was guest for this week. More shows like that will appeal and the young guy who does the show appears to be a talented and engaging broadcaster.
  9. I believe meaning the nz scene is showing signs of improvement, drawing a somewhat long bow imo.
  10. Yes a bit of a play on words, well that's how I understood it; ) , might have been different if I'd been even more positive.
  11. I just heard David Walsh say on SENZ that they are going to struggle to bring in more o'seas jocks for SI, so he suggested going to the country schools to try to bring in jocks, why on earth would this work with the governing body doing all they can to kick country racing to the kerb? On a more positive note , Steve Davis sees green shoots revealing themselves in the industry! He didn't however say where.
  12. I'm puzzled as to how the Riccarton AWT will work (along with the Awapuni one) will they really have the numbers to justify at both venues? I know uneasy was very confident it was all going to work, but I struggle to see the numbers to justify both these venues especially given the massive locational spread of horse populations that would be expected to utilise both venues?
  13. Is this finally a realisation that they have been wasting prizemoney? ITM Interprovincial Message from Taranaki Racing The draft system will need to be utilised for the ITM Interprovincial, as several provinces will not be represented, including no nominations from the South Island. Nominations remain open until Tuesday 17 August. The $30,000 consolation will not be run, unless there are 10 acceptors on Wednesday 18 August.
  14. It's time people! Time to send in "Fairy Flash" for the pep talk to revitalise the industry!
  15. Bernard and his cohorts think they'll head for the AWTs, but Reefton is right they don't care. They certainly haven't got a clue!
  16. I agree, but having said that I'm pleasantly surprised at what looks to be a fairly exciting field for the hurdles should noms hold up .
  17. Yep can see it happening , especially here. One just has to look at the crowd at the races to realise this. The young have been attracted to racing , but unfortunately via the enticement of alcohol which is a recipe for disaster.
  18. Have a look at BS FB live , it's all about the chicken & egg in SI jumps racing. Time for a survey perhaps??
  19. Agree, not to mention the asset grab which will put a lot of smaller trainers out to pasture. Some of the stables here at the moment should really be looking to Aus. sooner rather than later imo
  20. https://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/superracing/vic-racing/racing-victoria-chief-executive-bernard-saundry-to-leave-post-at-end-of-year/news-story/4614dc00aad7986043dfe6792baf7449
  21. Interesting, I guess they can't risk the AWT day before the races, but ok day after?
  22. I can't be bothered watching another one of BS FB live , but did anyone watch it and see if they gave any context around the newly created position?
  23. Trivial matters for an industry awash with cash like the NZ racing industry! Be a real shame if over this period there is less grass track racing & more of this AWT, still can't stand watching it just so darn boring , despite my improvement in "positivity" through my self improvement audio tape course.
