  1. Yes the Stipe
  2. also related to that , I've heard a few murmurs about the stipe in question also and her lack of empathy for those dealing with the horse, so in this instance perhaps its not as clear cut as its made out to be. Not sure if she hasn't had any experience with horses particularly before races or not , but maybe she could take the opportunity to lead a big strong 3yo Exceed and Excel filly around the bird cage before its asked to do its thing on the race track.
  3. Yep goes with the territory somewhat with 2yos, but I can see your point, would the field be any different running for $70k save the other $30k for 3 industry races.
  4. Isn't that just an outcome of our racing being so weak though? Take the WFA this week as an example, you could make an argument for 3 or 4 horses being genuine G1 NZ class , there is also an argument none of them are international class? That top layer of horses is also being reflected across the board in NZ and thats why that stables dominance is so prevalent. The quality of animal in that stable is so far beyond anything else in the country at the moment that statistically they are going to be successful , barring any significant bad luck. Have a look what they line up at midweek meetings and couple that with the pool of jockeys they have at their disposal and you'd have to be pretty delusional to not see why it all comes together. As for comments regarding MB ,OTB, Brando & Amamerilinha 57.5k,90k,500k & 300k are significant purchases when you're racing in NZ well at least in my humble origins of the sport. Now take a look at what this quality of animal and jockey they are lining up against in NZ ( I think its getting worse as well) and that gives it a bit of context. Agree and don't get me wrong I think he is an extremely hard worker and deserves his success but it does need to be put in some context.
  5. Absolutely agree, I'm guessing wasted I'm also in the future guessing going to be wasted.
  6. It's certainly going to be an interesting scenario to watch unfold and I must admit I look forward to seeing it, though I still think NZ racing is so weak and that stable so dominant in every single facet of the sport the results are somewhat amplified.
  7. The grabbing is coming , you think not?
  8. Interesting you say that with the loss of Poverty Bay, Wairoa , Woodville, Stratford, Waipukarau any others can anyone apart from the obvious asset grab give any evidence as to how this is making the industry operate any better ?
  9. Youre right there will come a time, but rest assured it isn't your fault, they have been told over and over again and will not listen, they won't even listen to the numbers , there is an agenda at play that will ruin the industry over the next few years.
  10. I'm not sure she is the same horse youre referring to CS, but lets hope youre right and she regains her form. I thought the track might have caught KL out , Brando had a tough run and had excuses, looked smashing in the parade ring, love to see him standing in NZ.
  11. Probably the most underrated rider in NZ, has done it all and incredible rider. Was very pleased to see him get the G1!
  12. I'm with Horace , I'd be surprised if she won a G1 in Aus. on that run. The fields are only going to get better in Aus.
  13. and others they just don't get !
  14. Well let's hope youre right, I saw the race and thought she looked in trouble a long way from home.
  15. Fantastic result, just me or anyone else think the mare has had enough?
  16. What is the twitter handle? Always looking for some value in my life.
  17. I think its been up to the clubs to cater for the kids and most have done a pretty good job at it, with the kids go racing scheme one thing that stands out to me. However NZracing is just so disjointed in the calendar & seasons that its difficult to have any real follow up around getting the kids interested and regarding it as a sport and not gambling.
  18. Good post CS I agree wholeheartedly with your sentiments, its now also becoming a lot harder for kids to get some sort of decent exposure to the sport given the direction its heading, which is detrimental to the industry in so many ways, many of which we are beginning to experience now.
  19. So very true and not a lot of roads available that you could pre-train on safely these days. I certainly think the thoroughbred has become a lot more highly strung animal than 30-40 years ago that may have something to do with what NM says, plus a lot don't really get the time they deserve to be a racehorse that they may have used to years back and add to that the very singular view our administrators take of the sport the animal is only becoming less resilient imho.
  20. Youre kidding right? There would be kaos at those TAB Self serve machines they are absolutely hopeless, give me tote operators any day of the week.
  21. They wouldnt know JB, they write papers about horse welfare etc , its all just lip service dont worry about that.
  22. So doesn't racing need to ask itself, what is the point in kowtowing to this generation if they aren't interested in the horse or the punt? I know the main reason is because they are a target to sell expensive booze to, but even that looks like it might be a risky strategy for the industry to continue pursue in the future.
