  1. I'd venture to say 2 acres sold in the suburb of Ellerslie would be plenty enough to get ya started, surely? As you say , not sure of the specifics around it all, thats indeed why I asked.
  2. Getting back to the hill, does this mean the end of jumps racing at Ellerslie or at least the end of the hill in the GN ?
  3. Hopefully its stays put, impressed me in its maiden win, looks very talented.
  4. Couple that with the best jockeys on tap and a model that allows the TA trainer to concentrate on training the animal and is it any wonder they have days like this? Still a great achievement by the young man in charge and he certainly seems to take it all in his stride.
  5. Pitmans filly in the Guineas, any luck at all and it surely wins ?(speaking through my pocket)
  6. I'd venture to say destroyed by the new face of the industry. I can see the sport becoming totally irrelevant under its new look, despite what a lot of people say. The new look eliminates the loyalty imho
  7. You wouldn't if you pulled them up 40m before the finish ; 0
  8. and thats the real point having good tracks and good staff can help reduce these things. But the personnel running the industry have no idea about it all, they just write policies and pretend , there is just no progress in NZ racing with that in mind.
  9. I look at it like most things with horses, you can get the scan done and be in the all clear then tomorrow youre not , but you had the scan done at any rate.
  10. One concern I have is , what happens if the AWT don't deliver as expected and they have wiped out 70% of the tracks across the country in trying to prove they do?
  11. Looks like they are just at noms stage, so maybe they will split a couple when the fields come out?
  12. Coming for their assets. Lets be clear its good for racing if your stationed from Te Awamutu upwards. I do hope other clubs get their houses in order or understand the legislation etc before the real theft takes place!
  13. NZ Racings approach - Build it and they will come! - Won't necessarily work.
  14. Part of the problem is that racing won't take a fair an un bias view of itself and put something together to better utilise its existing assets , instead it has extreme bias (as seen in the M report) and decisions being made that make no operational or financial sense for the future of the sport, particularly in the CD. i.e. if one venue doesn't work the idea is just to keep doing what youre doing at that venue or build an AWT that solves everyones problems apparently.
  15. Wouldn't the SI be better to try to put a deal together to get a Strathyr in rather than an AWT, like is being done in Auckland? Certainly sounds like the resources are there to at least take a look at it.
  16. No most clubs don't care , because they are subsidised by the booze/party both from a financial and performance perspective - that in itself is a problem.
  17. I'm not much of a drinker, but aren't boozers more likely to drink more and misbehave at an event termed R18?
  18. Interesting developments: 1: Ellerslie and Counties to merge forming Auckland Turf Club. Avondale will support but retain its autonomy and race on as AJC. 2: Ellerslie to install StrathAyr track, close for over a year 3: Avondale committee suggesting to members they stay as AJC but from 2026 track closed and they race at Ellerslie, as will Pukekohe. 4: Deloitte reports suggest with hugely increased assets Ellerslie can hold 40 meetings a year with 100k average stake in 5 years 5: New mega club and Avondale plan to run its three current $1million races but also 10 other races per season of at least $500k. 6: A hugely positive time for northern racing that a lot of people have worked delicately behind the scenes to make this happen
  19. Heard it all before, sit back and watch it all unfold!
  20. Of that I have no doubt. What will be funny to watch though is the massive noms for the few turf track meetings left after the AWT begin their destruction of local racing. The sport has sold its soul , there are bigger issues on the way , adequate staff being one of them and a lack of planning and assistance in that area from the governing body is coming home to roost in the industry.
  21. They are coming for the assets you can be sure of that. A similar approach went on with the race days, it's all been mapped out. You cannot trust them!
  22. lol youre probably right !
  23. No idea, has there been behavioural issues at Riccarton in the past the Police are focussed on?
  24. Really poor response , gonna be fun to watch it all unfold though . its not gonna be the beer and skittles you think it is!
  25. So certain people can get their horses ready to go across the Tasman, screw the rest!
