  1. They would have checked every blade of grass, no stone would have been left unturned and the attention to detail would have been that for which NZ racing is renown for! Rest assured I am quite sure there will never be another abandonement at that venue, and if they follow the current protocol which has been established via a rigourous process of trial and error the track should operate in a world class manner from here on in. I'm led to believe we have our best people on it so there is nothing I repeat nothing to worry about!
  2. Returning home I imagine.
  3. Smiling Joe to leave also I hear and Faye Lazet has gone, getting very thin in the jockey ranks.
  4. NZTR wouldn't know what to write if they couldn't write about TA, Marsh & Pike racing they'd be completely lost.
  5. Furthermore betting has become far too complicated which is another turn off. Added to that over compliance is far more serious impediment than racing chiefs realize. There is one thing racing is good at and that is kicking own goals. Racing does not need bookmakers. Hong Kong is the envy of other racing jurisdictions and they get along fine without bookies. Furthermore racing clubs do not need the TAB. With new technology and media they can offer betting direct to the public without the middle man. -
  6. We talking Bet Types here , at the end of the day the take out rate is the take out rate. Yeah its exorbitant and the fools would do more for turnover and returns to the industry by reducing it but i still enjoy a good Quaddie or Treble over Horse A running in the Top 3 and Horse B winning and Horse finishing in the first 2, you can have those types of bets.
  7. I think some of the hair brained Fixed Odds bets need the knive taken to them, but the tote bets are mostly worthwhile.
  8. No threat unless he can break the hold the big stables in NZ have over riders, well unless of course he rides them himself!
  9. Here is a reason the industry continues going backwards and its something the Chief has pointed to above https://loveracing.nz/News/39147/LOVERACINGNZPreview-CambridgeSyntheticThursdayFebruary16.aspx?utm_content=bufferabe19&utm_medium=social&utm_source=facebook.com&utm_campaign=buffer How many tipsters, form analysts , coat pullers etc does an industry the size of NZ need? We have The Shark with the TAB, every presenter of trackside giving out their tips before after and during races. Commentators giving their tips SENZ Good Oil tipsters and now the above a NZ Form Analyst. The sheer duplication of functions in NZ racing is mind boggling.
  10. If one of the above posts is post of the year then the above is line of the year! Couldn't agree more!
  11. Agree with alot of your points but I don't see any benefit to the industry in ridding itself of % bettting , that to me would reduce turnover significantly and in particular in exotics products where the takeout is high and the industry is doing particularly well out of. Reducing takeouts on the exotics would be a better idea to ensure bet regeneration on those products. But you make some great points around trackside.
  12. I've followed jumping closely for years and can safely say last season was the worst in memory, I expect this year to be even worse as a spectacle and its decline will accelerate. The fools running the industry did a document on all the new iniatives they were going to do years ago , they sent it out for response as far as I'm aware nothing happened, that is par for the course in the NZ racing industry ... its beyond saving now especially stayers and jumps racing.
  13. Unfortunately the breeding and racing of stayers doesn't fit in with the new type of owner, thus the sales, thus the stallions being sought. I can't see it ever returning (the interest in stayers) based largely on the above and those who run racing. The next generation will barely know our cup races and more specifically probably even the MC , they'll be focussed on winning a KM or an Everest of a Slipper , its unfortunate for our industry but it appears ineviatable.
  14. The "Grand Tour" has got that one covered Doomed, so probably sponsored by Jenka or some bean bag company.
  15. Wow , so looking at $5k easy by the sounds of it...ouch!
  16. How well are the stock of Wrote going , I make todays winner his 10th in a month including the Aus G3 winner. Also Belardo having a day out with 3 synthetic track wins today, the stock of War Decree are starting to get going as well off limited runners, good to see these young sires getting going.
  17. Would that be less expensive?
  18. Wasn't the partnership a ways and means of getting around the ridiculous NZTR Covid restrictions?
  19. Perhaps , perhaps not though the myth you speak of has certainly hastened it.
  20. Exactly just some easy Blacktype available.
  21. Certainly nothing to do with the former, there has been multiple occassions where this has been the case elsewhere. Definitely the latter , as NM has alluded to there is certainly a manufactured move North taking place.
  22. Agree its certainly there in nzracing whether transparently so or not. A good example this week is how quickly the Taupo meeting has been rescheduled , compare that to the many many meetings in other locations which were just deleted and never rescheduled , you have to have your eyes firmly closed to not think nzracing partakes in geographical favouritism to say the very least.
  23. Certainly on results compared to previous years he has been, but as we know in the sales arena they can go from Hot to Not very quickly for no apparent reason at times or one horse by a sire can make them hot property not to mention the timing of that performance to sales.
  24. Interesting the take up for the stock of Ardrossan , they certainly look nice enough types but my word they gone a bit the early crow on him ... time will tell perhaps he is the heir apparent at WS.
  25. You mean as a Sire at the sales or to view in the flesh or both?
