Have to agree with CS, they have no idea and they only care about the top end and the sales. Thats why I don't think in the medium term this is that positive an outcome for NZ racing.

I would have liked to have seen some stakes money recognition for some of the historic races to perhaps assist in returning them to their former glories, I can't see how the new races contribute anything but a fabricated copy cat situation of Aus racing. Why not bring the Parliamentry,Whyte Handicap, Tauranga Classic, Kiwi Fruit Cup the list goes on back to their former glories. One $350k race prizemoney would achieve that for a number of them.

Fair enough, that makes it seem even more strange. If you have a decent 4yo surely your likely to be looking at the G1 with it at any rate, now the $1millrace will do to the G1 what the Karaka Million has done to the 2yo G1s.

What do you think they have been doing to these venues for the last decade? How much more user friendly can they get? What you say simply will not happen, any benefits accruing from such retail actions have already more than materialised. Same goes for getting young people into the sport, what magic wand does Entain have that the TAB or NZTR didn't?

The question is though , should that cut of a horse really be racing here in $14k races or piss poor Saturday stakes for the prices paid for them? It's a joke , the KM a prime example. Decisions in this industry in NZ are made to suit an agenda and a certain select few simple as that, that in a way explains the success of Aus. they've made an industry that caters for the many not the few. The shame of it all is in due course there will be only a few left, then the industry won't function like they think it does.

You're correct on all fronts, the AWT in the SI is most certainly there in the capacity you've suggested to make Riccarton appear like it's needed at the expense of the rest of the industry...disaster awaits!!

Just more nzracing admin I'm afraid. They are trying to build an industry based on a fallacy. The resurrection of the industry has been steering them in the face for years, better use of existing assets ( awt were never needed) , better (fairer) programming, better handicapping, stop the favouritism & bias for the good of the industry & better admin from people with skin in the game . Jumps racing no different - in fact it's ruined now. Instead we get a bunch of I'll thought out chibberish or Aussie & International plagiarism from our administrators.
