  1. Currently 11 ahead , unlikely to be a contest. Looks very likely to break into the top 3 , a pity a decent trainer like this hasn't got any hope of winning the premiership for obvious reasons.
  2. Youre making things up now, not all of them have stable licences and most certainly haven't in the past or need to at this present time just because the governing body deems it so , its not a prerequisite for developing an interest in the sport.
  3. My point exactly, they won't be doing that nowadays.
  4. Is enough being made of the incredible performance of this trainer? 4 runners at Kumara for 3 winners, 6 runners for 4 winners at Otaki. Has anyone ever had such a hot run? and being done with average bred stock i.e. not CS Idols purchasing power.
  5. If the organisation that captures the data used it appropriately then of course it would. In this case no chance of that.
  6. Those places only have 1 race meeting no jumpouts, trials or horses worked on course when you developed your interest?
  7. Rubbish they all start somewhere, same could be said for those attending race meetings.
  8. and that correlates how?
  9. Well they are certainly diluting it , thats for sure.
  10. That's back in the day when was some sort of pattern to it all, not the case now , not by a long shot. Kumara for the locals then 12 months for the next meeting , not even trial, jumpouts or trackwork there.
  11. Stables experiences are more likely to get a young person involved, something I understand isn't possible at Kumara?
  12. Understand the WRC doing it as its his last meeting, so of course that makes sense but every club across the CD seems like an overkill for mine.
  13. Hardly. But the chances of that meeting having a significant impact upon a young person getting into the sport are less than negligible.
  14. You'd have to say he has been an outstanding commentator , but he is hanging up the mic and probably the right time. All beginnings have an end. And to that note, why were they celebrating him doing his last meeting at Hastings, whats the significance?
  15. I doubt they'd be one bit worried about it, i.e. do something to significantly increase it. The gate is the gold for them no doubt about that.
  16. Not true, most are well and truly utilising technology for racing purposes.
  17. If they are getting $20 a pop through the gate & a crowd of 6k, I hardly think they'd be too worried about the oncourse turnover. Be interesting to see what they gate would be like in the middle of winter?
  18. I strongly doubt that, with NZTR approach to racing in this country.
  19. Of course you can come from anywhere at any track depending on the track/tempo, but you cannot tell me youre not at a considerable advantage jumping well and putting yourself in the first 3 in a race at the likes of Kumara , that imo makes for boring racing and thats mostly what I saw yesterday. As for praise Kumara RC gets and has had more than enough praise compared to its peers , apart from the novelty factor etc at Kumara much of it is no more warranted than other country/picnic venues that's the point I'm making. Many let a piss up in the countryside distort their view.
  20. Trentham imo is the best track in NZ or rather has the potential to be the best track in the country, this of course may well change with the introduction of the new Ellerslie surface which at first glance looks amazing. But I agree with everything you say regarding the facilities and the running of the club, my recent visits have not been as pleasant as the in the past. I go to the Oaks meeting every year with a group of people and that day has lost all of its impotence imho.
  21. I think people have always appreciated those things, thats always been the case , there has always been a demand for them. The point I'm making is its now quite acceptable for Trackside,NZTR & In crowd to give country picnic racing the thumbs up in public.
  22. Trentham doesn't always play like that, Kumara does however.
  23. More interestingly why is there now a culture of acceptance of for these country/picnic meetings?
