  1. I do think not doing the last race was a bad call , whoever decided that. I only tuned in to hear his last call and that wasn't it.
  2. Crowd didn't look great for a Wellington Cup day? Weather perhaps?
  3. In my view that is the plan , but it would quite simply kill the industry.
  4. Secured Deposit one of my favourite Wellington Cup win, others I enjoyed were Yes Indeed and Flying Luskin.
  5. Tomorrow looks a great day racing at Trentham , hopefully the crowds support it.
  6. Not a chance its the best race day in the country! Perhaps for the poser club it is.
  7. Saw that , was it filming the race?
  8. Clipped heels I'd just forget it went around. Gonna need to be something very special to beat that amazing mare though at any rate.
  9. Looked like a few jocks were getting a line of the track today, imagine things will be considerably different in 2 weeks time with the rail also in True position. They don't half pump the Karaka Million night and also the track on trackside, reminds me a bit of the first race day on Cambridge AWT re: the hype around it. I'm sure it won't be a waste like that , well here is hoping.
  10. A sad state of affairs indeed.
  11. Forget the Pen , how bad was the crowd for fields like that. I thought it was good racing there today. Breaks my heart, Trentham have needed a change for sometime , the club is massively underachieving the industry.
  12. So the TA crew would likely have been considerably better off keeping her and breeding her to WB instead of selling her, I mean in the long run. Amazing the swings and roundabouts in racing you sell a mare to a stud by their Sire for $4.1m then end up buying her first yearling for $2.1m oh the irony of it all!
  13. As always the main goal is to spend other peoples money , plenty of off the track winners when that can be done. The part I find so funny about the sales is people in particular TV presenters. sales company execs, fanboys etc congratulating buyers on spending huge sums of $$ to purchase a horse. Whilst ignoring those who do the hard yards to find value.
  14. Won 5 NZ 2yo races , a huge difference to winning decent 2yo races in Aus. by a Sire not generally known for getting top Aus 2yo types, 2 of his better 2yos did it in the considerably weaker NZ scene (Avantage & Heroic Valour). For any owners sake I hope they can see plenty more that just the mother in her at that price.
  15. Coolmore bought Avantage from DE, DE buys her first foal . Nothing to see here. By a Stallion that is being hugely spruiked down under, imo unlikely to get the Aus type 2yo that market requires , the toughest area for any Sire to break into the Aus 2yo arena. In the photos she actually looks a bit small and like she will need a bit of time, but I don't have the amazing eye of DE he said she was the only "A" rated filly in the sale. MB & Avantage you can't take their NZ G1 form seriously , be lucky if it translated into an Aus G3. Unlike Imperatriz who has to be the best horse they have ever trained.
  16. You'd have to be a fan boy like CS or super naive to think this was all legit.
  17. Funny that , I would have thought at that price you'd pick up a weak looking under done type.
  18. One of the problems is the domineering status of one particular stable on the 2yo scene in NZ , that's also reflected on the Karaka Million night which is a made to order event for them and thus creates a massive distortion in the calendar. Any stable who can spend $3.5m on 5 yearlings on the GC and bring them back to NZ to dominate the local scene with those speedy Aus types is hardly going to fail much. I think many stables just go what's the point in trying to get a 2yo when you're competing with that ! Of course you get fanboys like CS who sing the praises & who blame the administrators on this one ,but far from the case in the 2yo ranks. Point is you just can't compete with that sort of firepower in the 2yo ranks.
  19. 7 starters last year and the year before. Nobody cares, so long as the Karaka Millions night is the showcase of NZracing and is still a reliable way to get suckers to buy shares in overpriced yearlings.
  20. All so predictable , such an incredible waste of $$$
  21. A warm welcome to you TAB4eva , always good to hear from others with differing opinions right or wrong!
  22. Those are the 18 that get through the system out of probably countless other well bred stock who don't even make it to the races. Surely you don't need it explained why he won't win the Premiership.
  23. Surely he should be, he has the biggest owners, one of the best jockeys and some of the best bred horses in the country at his disposal, pretty bloody obvious.
  24. Perhaps the TAB are making sure they don't miss out in the next Tom Woods.
  25. Currently 11 ahead , unlikely to be a contest. Looks very likely to break into the top 3 , a pity a decent trainer like this hasn't got any hope of winning the premiership for obvious reasons.
