There isn't any , its all smoke and mirrors . That Waipuk meeting has lost all of its character and charm since moving to Hastings, just another meeting now or more to the point a nothing meeting.

You say this the day after one of the chosen venues has fallen over again, in fact on numerous occasions this venue amongst several of the other chosen venues. Youre showing yourself to be ignorant of the machinations of the industry by coming on here spouting this dribble, most of us have heard it all before and its just complete nonsense.

Same old nonsense spouted by people who know nothing about how the industry works. There are no savings,there are no benefits in closing down venues the industry is a fluid animal not a stagnant pole and it needs all the tracks and resources it can get. You'd think that would be obvious by now , but unfortunately it isn't. We had one of the worse CEO of NZracing a few years back who spouted this very nonsense .

I thought for the first time in a few years the fields are a bit on the ho hum side , usually some decent match ups but take out the hype & the amazing Legarto & there isn't a lot of substance there.

Could not agree more with this sentiment, I do not see any of these alterations strengthening or reigniting the foundations of the sport, in fact I think they'll probably have a negative impact in that regard. You forget the foundations of a sport at your peril as many a sport has found out. Despite $$ being thrown at this I thinks its just more of the"Grand Tour" culture & their is a pervasive view amongst many that just because $$$ being thrown around it's got to be good. Rest assured those with the firepower at the top have little or no consideration for those at the bottom!

I tend to agree, but a slot race and most of whats being thrown around won't get the ones you really need back in the sport to breed those bread & butter horses that create turnover etc.

It has every chance of interfering with the Derby, many likely milers who would be tried over the Derby trip as a 3yo will head the slot race way nothing more certain. We aren't talking Railway horses vs Cup horses here , at a glance the 2nd,3rd,4th horses in the this seasons 2000 Guineas are all nominated for the Derby.

It really does feel like we are running building the house without the foundations. Hard to be excited about a slot race, we all know there is only one way to get involved there $$$
