  1. What a farce ! Champion Two-Year-Old: Tokyo Tycoon (45) Other finalists: Ulanova (11), Pignan (2), Trobriand (1), Zourion
  2. Imperatriz was amazing, hats off for that performance, exhilarating turn of foot. As for TA domination at Hastings, well that's just more ho hum , nothing unexpected men vs boys here in NZ with the fire power they have in the 3yo ranks unfortunately. Tokyo Tycoon winning champion 2yo , if this is true that makes racing in this country a huge joke!
  3. It's supposed to be a G1 and plenty of them on their way to bigger things via the race. Just good to see a very decent field go around in my opinion.
  4. Lol ... I see , I certainly can't put them away like you CS , I be lucky to place a bet after the 10th one.
  5. Acromantula to upset them from the draw.
  6. What's wrong with the first 5 races? , look decent fields to me R5 in particular.
  7. Pity that great field wasn't going down the straight at Flemington, instead of the goat track at MV. Hastings fields look pretty good as well, a great day on the couch with a couple of 6 packs!
  8. So long as Awapuni is ok at the end of it is all they care about. Same as Ellerslie situation.
  9. The worrying thing here is , if any of these silly ideas see the light of day our silly lot will plagiarise them.
  10. Goes very nicely with the $700k worth of horse flesh they had win on the Synthetic at Awapuni on Thursday.
  11. That's should equal about half of what they pay for a horse & it'll only get better now the industry is throwing even more silly $$ at the only race day they think exists.
  12. We keep making the same mistakes again & again , this will make no material difference to all but a select few high end breeders & pinhookers.
  13. Top it off by winning the Karaka Million next year perhaps...you heard it here first!
  14. Huge reality check for anyone coming off the comfort zone of training for TA in NZ, a good honest assessment. https://www.ttrausnz.com.au/edition/2023-07-21/hong-kong-is-a-very-difficult-place-to-win-races-richards-baptism-of-fire
  15. Agree , I think trainners are working out that Ruakaka isn't the winter nirvana its made out to be & watch it get left behind once they throw everything at Ellerslie. The problem is a lot deeper as you allude to, horse population another issue on the way. More races for slower horses required to keep them in work perhaps?
  16. I agree an awful decision for the industry, I notice how a fair amount of US racing is streaming live & free on YouTube nowadays I can't for the life of me understand why NZ racing streaming on that platform would not be good for wagering turnover. I realise they probably full their pockets with the $$ from Sky but one thing racing desperately needs in NZ is to broaden its appeal to a larger audience & break down the barriers to consuming the product that it currently has.
  17. Call me negative again , but I see nothing changing substantially enough to make it all substainable. But the biggest sign to me is , I cannot see how they are going to increase wagering in this NZ environment. The interest levels locally just aren't there, the punter owner breeder is getting so old now and we are missing 2-3 generations & that's assuming the next generation are even interested. For me it's another false dawn but this time a false dawn that wipes out all but the elite.
  18. No such thing as the mafia in nz racing ... 😂
  19. Racing Industry does not need assistance from the Government to cock things up, they can stand alone in delivering results in that area.
  20. What a wonderful spectacle that racing was on the AWT from Cambridge yesterday , some fantastic 5 horse fields and some really interesting racing, Watching horses drop out 500 from home was great to see also. Give me more of this exciting, enthralling winter racing on the AWT please NZTR this is what we need, I couldn't leave my seat all day I was glued to the silly box watching the drama filled afternoon unfold. Can't wait to hear Pops & Rodders give us the low down on those all important sectionals as well, especially with some of these horses going back to the grass tracks to race that will certainly be helpful. Great to see the crowd right behind it as well, people dressed to the nines getting their winter AWT racing fix. Absolute genius move by everyone to get these grass tracks closed down as they have the AWT as replacements, we need to close down more and more of these tracks so we can have more and more races on the AWT. I know I'll be sending my mare to stud this season in anticipation of her producing a 1st class AWT horse, particularly in the winter. AWT racing is the future, embrace it, love it, live it ... its the kiwi way!
  21. Is that the same crowd who want to raise the minimum bet in this country?
  22. Been there done that , I wouldn't waste the binary on it!
  23. Only the case cause theyve been ignored, please explain to me how $350k mdn races enhance net revenue...I'm all ears!!
  24. $3k for industry type races and thats rewarding mediocrity...wow just wow!
